Villeroy & Boch is a long-established (1748) ceramics manufacturer based in Mettlach, Germany, and this attractive porcelain Flow Salad Bowl is actually made in Germany rather than in China. I hadn't checked the dimensions before it arrived and it turned out to be rather smaller than expected with only a 600ml capacity – about right for one person rather than for serving a group of people. The bowl is certainly stylish and although described as a salad bowl it could actually have many other uses too – I have used it for soup and cereal (not together!) and it was perfect. As well as looking good this bowl is very practical being suitable for microwaves and oven use up to 200°C plus it is also dishwasher-safe.

Villeroy and Boch are a well established and regarded German pottery firm. This is a well designed, attractive piece, which like its name Flows nicely. The handle touches the table making it stable in use, but easy to carry. The porcelain is thick and robust and I expect it to last a good period of time.It makes an attractive feature on the table and if used for a salsa or dip, the spoon can be rested on the curved handle.It is not big enough to be a salad bowl as we would regard it in the UK, containing green leaves, cucumber et al, but is a good size for a family of four who have made a large batch of salsa, or guacamole etc.Overall well made and an attractive design.

This salad bowl is my first introduction to Villeroy and Boch. In terms of design, I think it's very attractive and elegant. Quite unusual in its lines, and the "Flow" concept is well represented by its curves and shapes. In terms of quality, it's a very nice, weighty porcelain. It feels very robust and should survive occasional rough handling and turns in the dishwasher.My only issue is with the size. I had expected something much larger from the description. It's not an item of sufficient size that it will hold a salad for a dinner party. In fact it's much more suited to a single serving of a side salad.

A rather stunning looking bowl. Certainly a fair bit different from your standard bowl. Looks a bit like an over sized ladle with a bent handle. The white porcelain is perfectly even with no blemishes or colour variations. As well as salad you cold use these for all sorts...soup, cereal, chili, etc. I can't find any indication on the packaging or the bowl itself as to whether its dishwasher and/or microwave safe. Though the description on the Amazon listing page does indicate it is both. A lovely looking bowl that along with other crockery in the range will make any mealtime feel that bit more classy.

"Villeroy & Boch" label means the quality is a given, so no news here. The bowl is beautifully made, heavy but not clunky, and a creamy-white rather than pure white porcelain. It is also big and deep! A real feature, everybody who sees it comments on the lovely and very unusual shape.

This is a nicely designed salad bowl, as you would expect from V&B; approximately 15cm diameter and 8 cm deep, designed to look like an oversized cup.It is promoted as a "table" salad bowl; however, with my appetite, I would quite easily eat a salad out of it on my own!

This is a lovely looking bowl - it has a very distinctive shape - a bit like a ladle.It is white and looks really clean and classy.Its great for holding salad and other cooked vegetables.Will bring a upmarket feel to your dining table.

Too big for soup but excellent to put food on a buffet table. The design is a talking piece at any party.
