Well, If you buy cheap you pay twice as the saying goes. This filter is poorly constructed. The glass is not a tight fit in the holder, being so loose that it will spin. There is also far too much play front to back within the holder & the result is a filter that rattles loudly when handled & on the camera lens. It may not impair performance but it is EXTREEMLY ANNOYING!!!!Very very dissapointed.Since posting this review I discovered an inner Ring with two small groves which when rotated clock wise with a pen tip tightened the Glass in the filter & stopped the rattle. Now a very useful filter (Just poor quality control)Update -still being used & proving useful.this filter is actually well constructed.

I had a Hoya 1B HMC Skylight before, which broke over a pebble and saved my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (on a Canon 40D house) when I dropped the bag (a Soligor Classic Line, size M) from about 1m / 3.5ft.I decided on this filter mainly for the cost savings compared to a Hoya or Dörr etc, and am very pleased.I'm not a pro photographer, and use this filter mostly indoors (as mentioned above, it sits on the front of a 30mm f/1.4), so UV influx is rarely a problem anyway. That said, I haven't noticed any bad influence at all of this filter on the picture quality I get, and the fit (thread size and cap compatibility) is great and build quality seems all good so I'm a happy sailor.

Protects the lens and in most shots I can't tell the difference between filter and no filter. Occasionally you will get noticeable reflections from strong sun at certain angles that go away when you remove the filter but on the whole I usually leave it on all the time. I use my camera paragliding and have to leave the lens cap off in the air as it is too fiddly to put back on with thick gloves. I have been through a couple of these filters in the last few years and they have saved an expensive lens from being scratched. Better to replace a cheap filter than risk scratching your lens.

With the cost of camera lens in the hundreds I thought I better get myself a filter which could double up as a protector should I have an accident. Happy with the filter, once it is screwed on you can forget it is even on. Lens caps clip on to them no problem. As they screw on they can be easily removed again if required. Should I have an accident and drop the camera I'd rather this lens take the impact and crack rather than the lens itself!Have used this while taking lots of holiday pictures and they've all come out well.

For the money paid, I'm delighted.A good quality, well manufactured, well priced 58mm UV filter. Bought to mainly protect my new lens, this is exactly what I needed and the price was excellent. I see no manufacturing gripes that have been highlighted in previous reviews, but for general protection (all my lenses have UV filters on them) and nice build quality, I find it hard to see how you could go wrong.Great stuff.

I've found this filter from Tiffen to be just as good as the more expensive filter that it replaced. I've seen no noticeable drop in image quality with the filter attached and have no complaints about the build quality that some other reviewers have observed. It's pretty much "fit and forget".All things considered, this is a cost effective way of protecting a far more expensive lens and so is highly recommended.

Bought this for my 450D and it does exactly what its supposed to. Not taken any pics where its UV filtering propeties will come in useful yet, but its primary job at the moment is to protect the len.Its got threads on its outer aspect to allow the attachment of further filters or hoods if you want.At £8 its a bargain, its for sale in Tottenham Court Road at £30!!! What a rip off!

Good fit and great protection. Had this filter in place on my expensive lens at Blackpool Airshow. Had a white salt deposit on it as the sea was rough. Protected my lens from salt spray washed and cleaned without showing any signs of damage. Could not have done this with the lens if I had not had it in place it could have been very expensive replacing the lens

I bought this Tiffen UV filter for one of my lenses, and for the price I paid just under £6.00 from Amazon I am very happy it's very well made, actually made in the USA, very good quality glass rally deals with the UV light that causes haze in photo's it's perfect as good as Hoya filters but cheaper, buy this brand with confidenceHighly recommended,Paul.B

i bought this item to use with sigma lens 70-300mm,i took some excellent pictures (in my view) and they are now displayed on the review page ,that amazon asked me to do.the filter is solid and actually proctect the lensand also in my view contribute to the overall excellent performance of the lens itself.excellent product ,satisfied.

It protects the lens well and provides some UV blocking. I haven't experienced any ghosting or flares some people say they have. It's the filter I use on all my 52mm lenses. Only problem is that it came dirty from the box, it needed some cleaning with a lenspen and blower to make it even remotely optically clean and dust free.

I was looking for something to protect the end of my expensive telephoto lens and came across this one. From the moment I put it on I haven't regretted it. It threads really easily onto it and I haven't noticed any compromise with the quality of the photos being produced.I am going to buying more for my other lenses.

For a small price this well made UV filter could save you from disaster as it protects your lens from scratches and smudges. Of course it also does a good job in filtering out UV rays. It fits perfectly well and will stay in place for as long as i continue to use my small prime lens. Don't leave home without it.

This product seems to be excellent value from a propriety maker, as it is mainly used to protect my expensive lenses it will not break my heart or my bank account should I ever need to replace it, it seems to do what is required from it and was delivered very quickly so keep up the good work.

If you're looking for a basic UV filter to help in the quality of your shots and to help protect your lens, this does the job. Construction seems good quality and robust and I haven't noticed any faults in the image quality. Worth the investment to protect your precious lenses!
