Well, If you buy cheap you pay twice as the saying goes. This filter is poorly constructed. The glass is not a tight fit in the holder, being so loose that it will spin. There is also far too much play front to back within the holder & the result is a filter that rattles loudly when handled & on the camera lens. It may not impair performance but it is EXTREEMLY ANNOYING!!!!Very very dissapointed.Since posting this review I discovered an inner Ring with two small groves which when rotated clock wise with a pen tip tightened the Glass in the filter & stopped the rattle. Now a very useful filter (Just poor quality control)Update -still being used & proving useful.this filter is actually well constructed.

I had a Hoya 1B HMC Skylight before, which broke over a pebble and saved my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (on a Canon 40D house) when I dropped the bag (a Soligor Classic Line, size M) from about 1m / 3.5ft.I decided on this filter mainly for the cost savings compared to a Hoya or Dörr etc, and am very pleased.I'm not a pro photographer, and use this filter mostly indoors (as mentioned above, it sits on the front of a 30mm f/1.4), so UV influx is rarely a problem anyway. That said, I haven't noticed any bad influence at all of this filter on the picture quality I get, and the fit (thread size and cap compatibility) is great and build quality seems all good so I'm a happy sailor.

I've found this filter from Tiffen to be just as good as the more expensive filter that it replaced. I've seen no noticeable drop in image quality with the filter attached and have no complaints about the build quality that some other reviewers have observed. It's pretty much "fit and forget".All things considered, this is a cost effective way of protecting a far more expensive lens and so is highly recommended.

amazon have asked me to review this filter, however i do not reckon to being an expert, i now have 2 of these as permanant attachments to my lenses, some one else will tell you if they are any good or not, i use them to protect the lenses, in that respect i have no complaints and i am happy with most of my photos, the bad photos i presume are down to me and not the filers, hope this helps

I bought this Tiffen UV filter for one of my lenses, and for the price I paid just under £6.00 from Amazon I am very happy it's very well made, actually made in the USA, very good quality glass rally deals with the UV light that causes haze in photo's it's perfect as good as Hoya filters but cheaper, buy this brand with confidenceHighly recommended,Paul.B

To be honest i bought this filter to protect the lens glass on my sigma 75-30mm having said that i found this filter to be of a good quality build with no distortion and cuts down light flare so all in all it was a good buy, i have had no trouble fitting the filter to my lens .so i`m very happy to recommend this filter to anyone

It protects the lens well and provides some UV blocking. I haven't experienced any ghosting or flares some people say they have. It's the filter I use on all my 52mm lenses. Only problem is that it came dirty from the box, it needed some cleaning with a lenspen and blower to make it even remotely optically clean and dust free.

a valued item to protect both the expensive lens from scratches, and also picture UV quality protection. Also comes in a solid protective box (once the filter is fitted to the lens you will never need to take it of? but it provides good protection in the post.)Good build quality, as you would expect from Tiffen, very pleased.

This lightweight UV protector lens is perfect for it's intended job. Whilst it is of quality build, it is not excessive in price and it is a great deal cheaper than replacing a lens which has been accidently scratched or bumped. Better to let this wee lens take any accidental abuse than the main lens unit itself.

For a small price this well made UV filter could save you from disaster as it protects your lens from scratches and smudges. Of course it also does a good job in filtering out UV rays. It fits perfectly well and will stay in place for as long as i continue to use my small prime lens. Don't leave home without it.

Excellent quality & fit snugly. I've always bought lens protectors - it's cheaper to buy a new version of a scratched protector than a new lens. I bought two & they came well packed and arrived well ahead of expected delivery date. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend both the items & the seller.

If you're looking for a basic UV filter to help in the quality of your shots and to help protect your lens, this does the job. Construction seems good quality and robust and I haven't noticed any faults in the image quality. Worth the investment to protect your precious lenses!

Essential for all camera lenses, this was the best value for money filter offered on Amazon and should adorn evereybody's lenses, as they are cheaper to replace that a damaged lens itself!Go on and buy one for all your lenses, and protect your investment.
