The good: It does exactly what it's supposed to do, nothing to criticize except for the price. The bad: it's expensive no doubt about it yet you get what you pay for. It's a very good addition to your street photo toolkit. The filter frame is thinner than normal yet they've managed to cram in a trace of screw so that you can still attach the newer and stronger Canon lens cap. The rotating action is smooth from day one; don't be fooled by the current displayed picture (Aug 2014): the graduation border is "hard" by all accounts (as hard as any of the "grad hard" rectangular filters from Cokin or LEE).If you are reading this because you've tested other filters and want to know how this one stacks up: The manufacturing process for the dark area doesn't produce any discernible polarization effect so you're safe. They claim two F stops in the dark area and they're very close to that (at least on a 5D MKIII).Bottom line: if you have a Canon "L" lens (or Nikon equivalent) then by all means you can't go cheaper. Add a step-up adapter from 77 to 82 and you're safe from vignetting even at 16mm. If OTOH you simply wanna know what's this whole "fixed gradual filter" all about there's absolutely no point in spending money on this one, there's way cheaper alternatives for beginners.

You'd think you can achieve any kid of effect in Photoshop nowadays. But if you're trying to take a picture where the contrast of first plane and background is so extreme your photo will either blow one or make the other unworkably dark, your only way out is to pick an exposure somewhere between the 2 and hope that you can photoshop your way out of it later. This filter offers a simple way of getting those exposure differences less extreme. I have just used it in some 30 different shots of forests against a blue sky and it proved absolutely indispensable. One of the only filters out there that still make a lot of sense.

You know when you are out taking photos of lovely skies and either the sky is over exposed or the land is under exposed well this is the thing to use. I think it drops the exposure by about 2 stops on the dark portion. Easy to use on flat horizons not so good if you are in the mountains, you sort of have to make it fit the landscape or not use it. Anyway for me worth the money. Nice build quality, smooth rotation. Not multicoated so slightly difficult to get rid of marks. On my 12-24 Ultra wide it causes a little vignetting at 12mm. If you'd rather get it right with the camera and not software get one of these.

HiI own a canon 5D Mark11 and was looking for something that would make my sky blue, and stop down the light so as my foreground would not be under exposed, and this product Tiffen 77mm color Grad ND.6 filter really works. Very pleased with the photos i have taken with this filter, i know you can do this in Photoshop but there's no substitute for getting it right in camera.Glad i spent a bit more and got this filter as it just the thing for me

Decided on a circular Nd grad as didn't want to play about with the cokin type adaptors etc. and am very satisfied with this. Yes cheaper units can be found but can't see much point in putting inferior filters onto L series lenses. Have used it a few times and to be honest the lack of adjustment has not bothered me at all - so for me a good addition to my kit.

This fleet is well made and has survived a fair bit of us so far.If you are after a circular grad filter this is certainly one to consider. As for price, I used this on extensive L series Canon lenses so don't consider cheap filters as I don't want to affect optical quality.A make and filter I'd happily recommend.

This is a very easy way of balancing the exposure between sky and ground by simply screwing onto camera lens. It avoid all the fuss in attaching holders to the lens and then attaching the filter to the holder. Generally, with some exposure compensation in the canmera it works for most situations.

This is a great useful filter for photographers. The 4* are for the fact that the print around the filter starts to rub off quite quickly. And it should have a marker on the rotating ring for top

Quality filter at a great price, less than half what I would have paid at my local dealerswhat more can I say, top gear, top value, it doesn't get any better!! It works perfectly

Excellent product. Does what it is supposed to do. Recommended for landscape photography, very useful, no shift in color. I like the metal ring and thread, no plastic.

This is another great filter from the renowned manufacturer of fine filters. Good quality glass and reliable gradation of neutral colour. Good secure storage case.

Seems a quality product. However, my camara has a HDR capture function which probably performs the same function and is more conveniant.

Great quality and very useful in various lighting features. This was given as a christmas present and they really enjoyed it.

Was torn between a screw or slide in, but finding this very usable. Looking forward to taking som great landscapes.

Reduces the chance of over exposing the sky. Easier to use than a square grad.
