I urge people looking to buy a 10 stop ND filter to look at the manufacturers website to learn more about how the filters differ in performance. The filter that I ordered and received is the Tiffen XLE Axent. Tiffen make three different 10 stop ND filters called Axent, Advantix and Apex with the level of infrared blocking ( 800nm wavelength and outside visible spectrum) going from zero to mild to maximum.I bought the XLE Axent 10 stop as I just needed a filter to extend exposure times in order to blur movement and remove people from shot without worrying about IR and making adjustments and this is the correct filter for my needs which are primarily colour photography but with an occasionalforay into monochrome. How well made is it?It is a slim well made filter and sits tight in its aluminium frame. The thread is precise and this filter screws easily into my Hoya skylight 1B that I use to protect my front element on my lens and is every bit as well made, but with a slimmer profile which is better, as there is less risk of vignette with small apertures on a wide angled lens. How does it work?I set up my shot with my camera on a solid tripod and meter for an average reading between the high and low areas in the frame, then switch to manual control of focus, aperture, shutter speed and iso. I then screw in the Tiffen filter and keep all values as originally metered, apart from the shutter speed which needs to be adjusted by 10 f-stops, sometimes called 1000 times as a 1/1000 second speed needs to be increased to 1 second, a 1/500 becomes 2 seconds and a 1/60 becomes 15 seconds with a 1/8 becoming a massive 2 minutes. Tiffen kindly have a table on their website and you can copy this and print of a cheat sheet to carry along to aid calculation.Remember that you will need to set up your shot with the filter off as it is so dense that you can't see through it all, but experienced amateurs will already know this and you will need a solid tripod and a form of remote shutter release such as a bulb, IR or wireless transmitter or a smartphone AP. You can also use the two second self timer on the camera shutter which allows the camera to stabilise before the shutter actuates. As with all photography, practice and bracketing your shots 1/2 a stop or more either way will get you the shot that you desire. Remember to have fully charged camera batteries and carry spares as long exposures drain your batteries much faster than normal shots.A great filter at a great price.

This is the AXENT 10 stop IR ND FilterThose complaining about colour cast haven't read the Tiffen website details1) only compatible with FF DSLR and Fuji X Trans cameras2) it has an IR effect colour cast - it is supposed to and the website details this - it is used for B&W and IR long exposures and NOT for accurate colour neutral colour long exposures! So all these negative reviewers should've done their research instead of moaning after buying the wrong filterif you want accurate colour and a normal 10 stop filter you need the 10 Stop "apeX" Long Exposure Premiere IR Absorption Filter.

Good quality, low cost 10-stopper.Really good fun to use, but beware of the purple colour cast especially shooting in JPEG when its harder to remove.I certainly prefer to use screw on filters than cumbersome and awkward (in my opinion) square ones - and I recommend this one. AF even works on my X-Pro, which I wasn't expecting.

Good quality (so far) is quite warm not as neutral as described in some reviews (I have WB fixed at 5000K and shoot in raw for all my landscape work, so this is an accurate review). Fairly thin mount so no significant vignetting with most lenses.

Does exactly what you bought it for. Well built with very little softening of the image and Minimal colour cast - basically irrelevant if you are shooting digital. Recommend to any landscape photographer.

Excellent value compared to other quality 10 stop ND filters on the market.Yes, there are some cheaper ones out there but this is a quality product with very littlecolour shift. Highly recommend.

Perfect for very long exposures and using in busy places for that clear view of your buildings or in extreme bright light. Easy to use and gives good results

Great but of kit and very reasonable. I don't have a £150 one to compare it too but brilliant for me.

Don't hesitate, this filter is perfect. Excellent quality and value for money.
