Yes, these are popular. Yes, pretty much all "cinematic" youtube videos are starting to use these. But, that doesn't mean this is the only type of diffusion out there. There are different and better types, so though this is good, there are shortcomings. For example, this does give highlights a glow, which can make it look like a soap opera. Luckily, the 1/8 version is much better at this than the 1/4, so its more subtle. In conclusion, solid filter, but don't be afraid to experiment and not just rely on this because a bunch of people on youtube say its the best - chances are many of them have never tried any of the other diffusion filters.

I purchased this filter after comparing to others and all in all I just wanted to remove some of that digital feel the GH5 can give.I’ve captured two weddings with this filter and my footage looks so beautiful to me. The soft film look works perfectly for weddings and the digital look is gone!I would say get this one and not the More powerful options because this is enough. Unless you want it to be dramatic lol

Can be very expensive however I managed to get one for £30 or so including shipping to the uk (where they usually cost £70+!!!) and this was a great deal, I only have this 1/8th version and would prefer the stronger 1/4 however any more than this and it is a bit niche and wouldn't be ideal for most filmmaking or photography use.

This does a great job at emulating the halation effect that analog film has going for it. The Sigma art lenses are my go-to's, but they often have a clinically sharp look to them and this takes off just enough of that edge to produce a very pleasing image.

The glass is fine after cleaned, really like the filter and the price is alright among all the platforms, not sure why there is small mark at the ring, but it won’t affect the performance.
