I admit I did not buy my set from here but Got them from Halfords one week ago and had them fitted by them. I had them fitted to my 52 plate astra 5 door hatchback, They look great for a set of roof bars very sleek and neat, they are supposed to be the quietest around.what a waste of money , at 35mph they start to whistle, for every 10 mph over this the pitch of the whistle raises and so does the volume , by 55mph even with the stereo turned up loud you cannot drown out the scream that these bars cause,I can`t dare to take them up to 70mph I don`t think my ears could stand it without bleeding, I have been back to Halfords and they are talking to Thule to see if anything can be done ,they have suggested a bar spoiler but I do not want any more trash strapped to my little car or anymore financial outlay. I cannot say how they perform on another vehicle but if you have a 52 plate Astra hatchback I would say that these bars are not fit for purpose and should be avoided at all costs, as you may have figured out I am not happy at all with Thule , supposed to be the best around ,forget it they are worse than having a flute orchestra on the roof !!!....further to my initial review , I have been back to Halfords and they found that the numpties who fitted my bars had left the rubber inserts off from the underside of my roof bars , they cut some rubber inserts from another set in stock and fitted them to the underside of my bars, what a difference, these bars are now almost silent , you know you have a set fitted due to slight buffeting at speed but no noise, so to update my initial review...these bars if fitted properly are great, I would praise them to any one thinking about buying them ,just make sure you do not let the Stevie Wonder twins fit them for you !!

Had the square bars before on my 2009 Avensis estate. It was like driving a haunted house on the motorway what with the 'whoooooo' sounds at higher speeds. These aero bars have so far been completely silent and they look much more modern. Fitting tip: the instructions baffled me a bit, especially the 4 black pieces of rigid plastic. After a bit of faffing I realised you slip one into each underside slot with the tab downwards and outwards. Then when you have got the bars finally clamped to the roof of the car you slide these bits outwards until they touch the clamps and this fills the gap probably to stop whistling noises etc.The 2 curved loops on the top side of these pieces are simply springs that bear against the inside of the underside slots to stop rattling. Obvious once you have seen it but as said took me a while to understand. Other tip: always put a thin film of grease onto all bolt threads when fitting bars to a car as it makes life much easier when you come to remove them. Slightly miffed that if you ever need new topside rubber strips (and you will be cutting the ones supplied once you start fitting T mounted stuff onto the roof bars) they are a steep £20 each. I know Thule isn't cheap but this seems excessive. Overall though very pleased they look good on my 2015 Honda Civic Tourer and I am happy with the quality I got for my money.Extra: just discovered today when covered in frost these bars are very noisy until it melts off. Had to stop and check, thought I had a bad wheel bearing...

Purchased these to hold bike carrier on a 2019 Tiguan.Install instructions are vague, and there are a few things I’d do differently if installed these again.I mated these to the wing bar evos and I have to say now I’ve got them quiet they are very good indeed. However this took experimentation.1) ensure the twin rubber seals in the wing bar eco sit ABSOLUTELY flush. If they don’t, it will whistle loudly below 40mph (see pics)2) fit the plastic sliders in the bottom part of the wing bar before installing. Once done, user the raised lip to pull the plastic slider up to the foot so it closes the air gap between the bars and the foot (see pics)3)cut a rubber strip from the offcuts and install it between the outer edge of the foot and the end of the bar (see pics)4) ensure you install the wing bars right way round (fat side towards front of car - see pics)Now they are installed they are easy to use, relatively quite, very secure indeed and look good.My only issue is despite being 6ft tall I can only just reach to put s bike on the roof. If you have an eBike this could be a nightmare, especially if you are sub 6ft. I’m now getting running boards to make life a bit easier.

After a lot of research I decided to pay a little bit more and go for the Thule wing bars and am glad I did. Once fitted they feel totally secure and having taken a drive down the motorway there was a bit of wind noise but far less than I expected and after a while I stopped noticing it. No noticeable effect on MPG as well so very pleased, and will probably make the extra cost back on fuel savings. As mentioned in other reviews, the instructions are pictorial only like IKEA. This is made more complex by having to refer at different points to three different books depending on the bars, feet and fitting kit.For any Audi A5 Sportback 5 door hatchback 2013 owners, you are instructed to fit different connectors to the front and rear bars. Do not do this, use the fixings with the semi circle cut outs on front and back. Then when attaching to roof, pull back the rubber seal above the window frame and locate the round pins in the gulley. Side the fixing into the gulley so that the cut out fits around the round pin. Do the same for the front and rear bars and you will find that the bars are perfectly spaced and very secure.

Coming from an old set of steel bars - I'm very impressed. These bars are very light but extremely rigid and strong. Their tapered wind like shape is pretty aerodynamic and I didn't hear them until getting up to about 70mph (ahem!).The central rubber insert that runs along the entire length can pop out for use with roof boxes that use flat/wide head bolts to attach directly to the bar (like the newer Thule ones) but you can just about fit the old style brackets around the width of the bar if that's the style you have. Well, depending on your bracket size I guess but my old Thule brackets did fit around with a bit of a push. There are also little plastic ends on the bars that lift up to allow you to put the bolts/fixings in to there's no faffing about,it's very quick and easy.IMPORTANT - These don't come with the feet, you buy those separately for your specific car. Personally I think this is better than the old single unit ones but don't get caught out.Overall I'm very happy with these thanks to their simplicity and light weight but strong design.

Firstly, let me say these roof bars do not look out of place at all on the car, they look sleek and as my car is silver they matched very well. I had no issues with getting the bars on the foot packs, they just slide in to place, use the plastic sliding guides (with measurements on to get them centered perfectly and clamp tight. The main thing for me as a first time roof box user was ensuring my roof box was secure and using the T Track adapter kit this was achieved. My roof box (bit of an older type) had clamps included but because the wing bars are so wide, the clamps did not fit even though the clamps were quite large so I had to use the adapter kit. This cost me a bit more but is well worth the extra,it allowed the roof box just to slide on and off easily yet held the box very securely. My first journey was a 600 mile round trip and the entire Thule set up stayed perfectly secure.Another plus was that all the bugs collected by the bars were also very easy to wipe off.

What a fantastic bit of kit this is.We go abroad a lot showing dogs and needed space in our transporter for cages for the dogs. I Fitted V.W. cool looking roof bars and then used these together with the Thule Rapid System foot pack. This created a perfect support for a massive roof box for storage of most of our other gear. (Jupiler Beer and Proper decent French wine on the way back - Not in the roof box, but everything else was moved up there)The most important thing is the quality of the products. Well made and with the lockable foot pack security is improved 100%.I am now In the process of looking at using the extendable bar system as we camp a lot and need that extra space inside but withincreasing the outside area as well for the windbreakers etc.

I purchased my Thule wing roof bars along with the feet, which I use to mount a Thule Motion XT roof box and/or my Thule Pro bike rack. I felt confident enough to fit them myself and after a few minutes of getting my head around the instructions I found them to be straight forward enough. The bars are very solid and fit well with the seperately sold feet. They feel like a premium product and frankly that’s what you want when you’re carrying your stuff on the roof of your car. I’ve driven a couple of thousand miles with them on and experience no wind noise from the bars when they’re on the roof without the box. When I bought them I thought I’d take them off when I wasn’t using them but as I don’t notice them up there I leave them on all of the time now.

There's not much to write about roof bars. They are, at the end of the day, metal bars. These, however, are a cut above.Once you've done the hours of research into the various different packs you need (we're using them on a 2009-2016 Peugeot 3008), the Thule system is really excellent. There is a bit of pondering over the instructions, but once you work it out it all does literally click into place. The aerodynamic shape really does keep noise down. The T Track system makes fitting accessories a breeze. After carrying two bikes around the Highlands of Scotland I can say they performed amazingly. Pricey, but we feel like they have given us great value.

This roof bar is very well designed, well made and looks good on the car, only driven up to 60mph with them on so far, very quiet, could not hear them even with the window open!.Well worth the money. My only gripe is that Thule have a problem with continuity of design across the range, the Thule Cycle Carrier Clamps do not fit this Roof Bar, T Track Bolts have to be used which is ok but they have to be left in place, consequently when the cycle carriers are not being used they are left behind in the rack looking quite ugly, also the Thule Roof Box cannot be fitted without removing these T track Bolts which is a right palaver!

Great bars. Fit easily look nice especially in black. I don’t think they will scratch easily. But mind out for Hermes. Or any delivery. 2 of the ends were slightly bent obviously been knocked about a bit either in warehouse or in delivery. This was not obvious on delivery until I took them out and tried to fit the end caps. Very nearly contacted amazon to complain. I managed with a hammer to hit the end bits in. This could cause issues later if I need them out but at the time didn’t have time to send back as needed to use them.

I'd had Thule bars before, although not this style of wing bar. After I'd removed the excessive Amazon packaging (coffin sized cardboard) was I was surprised how light they were.Although it came with no instructions, they actually come with the footings pack, so no worries there.I was expecting some sort of hum or whistle, but I've even gone on the motorway at 70mph and haven't heard a dicky-bird. On that basis, I am not expecting a massive hit on fuel MPG either.Really happy with the purchase

6.9.2013

Have been really impressed with just how much quieter these are than the old aero bars I had been using. They are as solid as all Thule's products and integrate well with the feet and accessories. All in all, they are solidly made, fit well and make very little noise at speed. The only thing against them is the price - good though they are, the price of the bars and feet is very steep. That said, I've never regretted buying Thule, and that piece of mind goes a long way to making up for the premium.

Overall pleased with the black finish on these - be interesting to see if this lasts over time. The plastic end caps are a little cheap in feel but seem to do the job.The rubber strip needed max 5mm removed to cut down for the rails - Be careful when cutting as natural action means the rubber gives causing an angled cut.Marked security features and easy to lock as a 1 Star as the rails don't have any feature to allow locking directly this is in the foot pack. Very easy to install.

Really pleased with these roof bars. I ordered the Thule bike rack and conversion kit to fit onto my old square bars, but when I saw these for £75 I make a snap decision and purchased them. Really glad that I did. Mine didn't come with instructions, so I went onto the Thule web site and watched YouTube videos on how to fit. Theses are so much more quieter then my old square bars. Really pleased with them. In fact, I have left the roof bars and bike rack on the car for the summer.
