I think the terminology might be confusing here, as the description of the freezer calls this an "Under Counter Chest Freezer". As the images show however, this is a freestanding upright top-opening chest freezer. You can put it under a counter, but you will have to wheel the freezer out to open it and have access to the contents.Assuming you know what you are getting, the Statesman CHF101 is a good sized upright chest freezer where you have to stack the items freely. There are no shelves, just one top basket for smaller items that might otherwise get lost down in the "deep" freeze. The advantage of no shelves of course is that you can store larger items here that would otherwise be difficult to fit into the compartments of a conventional fridge-freezer.If you are getting this delivered,it's fairly light when it is empty and easy to move around and position in the kitchen or outbuilding. It's solidly constructed, quiet in operation, with operating controls and settings that are easy to access and operate. A 100 litre capacity is good for a small household if you already have a fridge freezer and just want some extra backup storage. This will provide additional freezing capacity for all your needs without taking up too much room space. It has an A+ energy rating, so it is designed to be efficient. This is exceptionally good value.

This was an opportune aquisition. I had recently purchased a fridge/freezer to replace an old set up,and quickly discovered that I hadn't done my mathematics homework. The freezer compartment was way smaller than the old freezer unit and consequentally, it caused no end of problems when we bought too much freezer food and struggled to get it in. Step forward the Statesman CHF 101 chest freezer. Despite being unpacked and discovering a sizable dent in the cabinet, just under the door, it did not appear to have caused any problems to the actual performance. The advice is to leave it on for 24 hours before adding food products to it. After stocking up in Lidl on freezer food,it was a relief to be able to buy what we liked without having to worry whether or not it would fit.It also allows you to take advantage of those supermarket sell off reductions which you can stock up on and stick in the freezer. It's a good size and will take more than enough for a family's needs. The only mild criticism I would make is that perhaps it would benefit from a basket system to store products. As it is, you have to just pile the stuff in which means digging deep to find what you're looking for. Although it does have one small basket at the top. Perhaps you can buy baskets to fit?Overall, a pretty good chest freezer at a competitive price.

Vine reviewers are allowed 30 days to assess items, which in the case of a home appliance where longevity and reliability is probably more important than aesthetics or overall build quality. This Statesman Chest freezer has been installed in our garage for a little over 10 days. It is a neat unit and ideal as an adjunct to our large American style fridge freezer in the kitchen. It is constructed from a composite plastic and metal materials and is very similar to other models you will encounter in retailers or online. The unit is solid and there is adequate room for storage in the supplied baskets. The hinges appear robust and well made and should endure the rigours of being opened and closed for many years. In operation is is quiet and the motor so far appears to run very smoothly and without any trace of an irritating hum.I am not sure of the price when it comes up for sale, but I would suggest that build quality is around the mid range and therefore I would expect to see it retail in the region of £150-£180, where it would warrant 5 stars, any lower and you have a bargain, any higher and then perhaps 4 stars might be more appropriate.

It's really difficult to review a freezer, as it doesn't do anything more interesting than freeze! We got this freezer to replace a broken one which is used as a spare/additional storage in our garage. It was easy to set up, just straight out of the box and plugged in. It has wheels on it so is easy to move around, handy for when you need to clean behind it. The capacity is good, plenty room for lots of food, and there's a useful storage basket inside the chest. Will be useful for larger bulkier items that I struggle to cram into my kitchen freezer with its sometimes too narrow shelves.Obviously, being a chest freezer,it's top opening so no use as an under counter freezer in a kitchen.Cannot comment on the longevity of it as we've only had it just over a week but all is good so far and hopefully will save a little bit on the electricty usage being energy efficient.

Good very quiet chest freezer. It arrived well packaged and was nto too heavy to position. Setting it up was easy. Just give a wipe with a damp cloth and dry it well inside having taken off the transparent coverings on the outside. Level it using the adjustable feet. Leave it for 4 hours to settle. Then start it up and leave it for 24 hours on the highest setting. Seems okay so far with food freezing inside. This is more an adjunct to a freezer than a total freezer solution for a family. Great way to store bargains or summer produce. Of course, only time will tell reliability. I'll edit my review if things go iffy but seems well made and has a two-year warranty.I might add that the CHF101 I received is slightly different from the picture shown here.Mine has a different control panel and lid insulation. Otherwise it seems exactly the same.

This is a compact chest freezer reminiscent of old-style chest freezers. This one does enjoy an A rating for economical running though, and is supplied with an interior basket to save rummaging through the entire contents. This is probably not large enough to be the main freezer for a family, but is perfect as a backup, to be used for the extra storage needed on special occasions, or perhaps to separate certain goods away from others. Importantly for me, it is suitable for use in an outbuilding, in my case a garage, where it will be used. The main drawback of this type of freezer is that it requires space to access the top-opening lid, so cannot be used under a counter, or in a fitted kitchen. However, with a 100-lite capacity, it has great uses as additional freezer storage, and works very well for that purpose.

We got this freezer to replace a very old (around 15 years old) upright freezer, and have been very pleased with it.The freezer is of single width (55cm), but is surprisingly roomy. You have to be careful not to put soft things such as bread at the bottom of a chest freezer, but the Statesman has a quite large basket which fits at the top of the freezer which helps in this regard. The amazing thing though about ths freezer is how quite it is. The normal hum is very quiet indeed - it does seem to get louder occasionally, but there have been a few times where we have wondered if it is actually working, it's so quiet! This is a good quality little chest freezer, and we are really pleased with it.Recommended.
