I bought this to replace the cassette on a 2012 Carrera TDF road bike, as the bike is notorious for being over-geared (crazy considering its aimed at beginners) this made it really hard to get up hills. This 32t gear cassette now makes it a fair bit easier on the legs, but to make a bigger difference I'd have to change the front chain rings, and that would start getting expensive, and as I bought the bike 2nd hand I don't want to start throwing lots of money at it (I will upgrade to a better bike eventually).Luckily, I didn't have to change the de-railer or the chain and so far it's changing smoothly. It could just be me, but I do feel that their seems to be a large jump between the 2nd gear up to the 1st (32t)but at least it gets me up the hill. It's a worthwhile upgrade for the money.I didn't bother buying special tools to remove the old one, I just used some needle nose pliers to loosen the cover while holding the cassette with a thick leather clove. (took a bit of muscle but got there in the end with no damage to me or the old cassette).

I bought this to replace the original cassette on my 2011 Carrera Vengeance, because it had worn down with my old chain, causing the new chain to skip. The new cassette immediately solved the problem. I've done roughly 100 miles on it so far, and gear shifting is very smooth. It can take a bit of effort to remove the old cassette. You'll almost certainly need a Freewheel lock-ring tool, and a spanner or ratchet to drive it with. For a beginner, it's annoyingly difficult to work out which of the very similar-looking tools you need, but I did OK withhttp://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0028N57UU/ref=pe_385721_37038051_TE_3p_dp_1(equivalent to a Park Tools FR-5G)You might also need a chain whip, though I got the job done with a piece of old chain and a claw hammer.Fitting the new one is thankfully a lot easier.

Fitted this onto my 30 year old Peugeot Road Bike along with a new Rear Derailleur and Wheels to shift it into the 21st Century. The 32 Toothed Gear makes Hill Climbing much easier and faster. The 11 Toothed Gear allows me to push downhill to 40 mph. Sprints have also improved. I record all my training on a well known Phone App, I've seen these improvements, it's not just a gut feeling. The Eight Gear Range is plenty for me and allows me to use the original friction Gear Shifter, it also allows the use of a good strong chain. This Cassette is light in weight , very good value for money at the moment and it's chromed finish looks good on the Bike. I've ridden about 200 miles on it since purchased.I can't fault it.

I see so many people pushing the wrong gear or climbing with the tiniest gears that came on their new bike, then walking the second half of the hill. I'm at 265 lbs right now and combining 2 of these cassettes into a 13,15,17,18,21,24,28,30 put me over the moon on my last ride (also thanks to my triple ring crank). Big hills may take a long time in a 1 to 1 ratio, but I top them on bike. If you're wondering, the difference between 26 and 30 is huge in terms of climbing, if you think you need it - you need it.My only Qualm is that the second one shipped without the 11 tooth gear, didn't need the 11's but hey if I wasn't combining that would have put me in a pickle. Amazon, your hand has been slapped :)

Got a new chain. When I put it on it started skipping teeth on the old cassette. No surprise. So I ordered a new cassette. Installed easily and now it shifts perfectly with no skipping of teeth. New cassette + new chaing + new crankset = almost new bike for 1/10th the cost of a new bike. You do need a cassette removal tool, and a chain whip helps but is not necessary in order to remove and install one of these. Every bike owner should have one of those tools. It will pay for itself may times over if you can avoid going to the LBS to replace the cassette. I shopped around first and Amazon with Prime had the best overall price when shipping was considered.

I have a Trek 7500 with an 8-speed rear cassette. The original cassette was built with 2-tooth jumps from cog to cog in the mid-range. I wanted to create a custom cassette with single-tooth jumps from cog to cog. I purchased both the 11-30 and 11-28 gearing options of the PG850 and combined them into a custom cassette with the desired single-tooth jumps. Works perfectly. The result is finer tuning of gearing. The loss of the largest cogs was a no-brainer since I never shifted into those cogs anyway. Combined the new custom cassette with a SRAM 870 chain. Great performance and good value.

After much use, I decided to write and say that this is a great, inexpensive upgrade and have put on some miles- been riding all over the place with no issues. I ride both street and mountain. I bought the SRAM chain to go with it and I use XTR rapid-fire (old skool) shifters. Solid, durable, and smooth feel when shifting. There isn't anything I don't like about this product. Amazon shipped fast as always! The cassettes are still crazy shiny (I keep my bike outside and do minimal maintenance). I thought they would have rusted by now, but nope! The chain has rusted, but thats normal.

I just needed a lower gear to manage some of the steep roads. My road bike had a 12-25 cassette on the rear. I changed to the SPAM PG850 11-32T 8 Speed Cassette. According to the bike shop that changed it, the only concern is that when the chain is in the largest sprocket in both the front and the rear, the chain is at its maximum length. This is really not a concern because one never rides in that combination of gears. I now have a gear to pull almost any road around here (32) and also a higher top sprocket (11).

Once upon a time 30 years ago bike chains and cassette’s lasted the life of the bike. These days chains are consumables as they stretch and snap. While they’re stretched they then silently damage the Cassette. Something I have found out to my cost twice in 2 years. (symptoms are the new chain skips over teeth in the old cassette). I guess it’s due to the soft light weight materials used but sometimes I long for hardened steel to make a comeback……..This appears good quality as well as the SRAM chains.

This was my first SRAM cassette. From the front, all you can really see as differences vs. Shimano cassettes are the holes in the teeth of the larger sprockets. Turn it over, and you see that the sprockets are all much more significantly cut-out than a Shimano cassette, which makes it noticeably lighter. I can't say anything about durability, but it's a cooler, lighter part than the Shimano equivalent, and don't notice any difference in how the bike shifts.

I purchased this for a mountain bike that did not have enough of top end. The tooth changes from cog to cog gives you a very nice close ratio for the top end. I have this paired with a SRAM 28/38/48 crankset and I am still able to pedal at 35mph around a cadence of 90. This is more similar to my road bike gearing wise now instead of a mountain bike. Perfect for a commuter bike or rail trail riding.

Based on my limited knowledge and some interweb research to find a replacement cassette for my 2007 Trek 7300, I found this. I also purchased the Par Tools cassette removal tool, removed the old worn unit and replaced it with this. It works GREAT! Highly recommended if you have a situation as I described. Also replaced the original chain with a SRAM PC 850.

Very happy with this cassette, have gone from 13-26 to 11-28 to 11-30. Makes things a lot easier and very easy to fit, but definitely change and remeasure the chain at the same time! Have not had to change my rd2300 rear derailleur or mess with screws. It is worth noting the ratios are different between 11-28 and 11-30.

Bought this for my Giant with a Sora shifter. Expected it to be a Shimano cassette but on closer examination it was a SRAM one. Fitted straight on with no issues, previous one did 14 years so hope this one will do the same. Fitted a new chain to ensure smooth shifting and drive and all works perfectly.

Overall I'm pleased with the cassette with regard to function, build, and price. There appears to be a slight undulating effect in the rotation of the cassette when viewing its profile from, say, above. It doesn't appear to impede energy transfer significantly enough disqualify it for commuter use.
