Let me add my experience to others who are considering adding a lower gear to their road bike. I have a specialized secteur elite with all tiagra components. RD is 4600 (short cage) paired with a 10 speed 12-30 shimano cassette. I wanted a lower gear and got the SRAM 12-32. Just needed to screw in the "B" screw so the cage would clear the larger 32T and checked the chain length. Largest to largest combination was tight but acceptable without having to add a link. The lower-lowest combination was also OK but marginal and there's the rub in trying to go to a 34. MIGHT be able to squeeze it on but you'd need a larger chain for sure and then in the lowest-lowest combo the short cage RD would berubbing so you'd need a long cage version. If you're looking for a little more power on the hill with min fuss go with the SRAM 12-32. Shifted better than the stock Shimano!

I gave up my 11-23 cassette as I needed a bigger gear for the hills and rarely used the 11-speed cog (11th cog was used only for a few seconds on downhills). And I wanted to stay with a 10 gear cassette to avoid paying $250-$300 to upgrade to 11 gears. I have a Shimano short derailleur but went with the 12-28 SRAM cassette as it has the 16th cog (the one I use most). Shimano states that a 27 cog is the largest gear that can be handled by a short derailleur. I've also read that Shimano is conservative in their calculations. I installed the 12-28 cassette and it works perfectly with my short derailleur. (I wouldn't go above a 28 cog - if you're considering it.)The SRAM cassette slid onto to the hub easily and tightened with only finger pressure - no tools needed. EASY!

I purchased the Sram pg1070 cassette to replace a stock Shimano Tiagra cassette on my new bike. I choose Sram because I had read reviews about its smooth shifting and it is the force model that goes along with Shimano Ultegra.I also purchased the matching chain and I must say that this combination is as smooth as silk compared to any other combination that I have used. Shifts are very quick and clean even with the 105 rear derailuer. The one and only issue I have is the weight. It seemed to be heavier than my 12-30 Ultegra cassette (about the same as my old 105 12-28 cassette). I didn't weigh them, but I was expecting it to feel lighter.I would recommend this cassette along with the matching Sram chain.

Works fine with index shifting on the 2006-ish model 105 rear derailleur (medium cage, I'm guessing) that came stock on my Giant OCR1. Took some minor tweaking of the adjustment screws but now shifts smoothly. My front is a 50/39/30 triple. Chain take up is not an issue, but I wouldn't do the 50-32 combo anyway. I lost the 50-11 top gear, but 50-12 will give 36 mph at 110 bpm, which is more than plenty fast for me. Nice and easy upgrade for a casual rider who wants to do some mountain riding. It replaced an 11-28T Shimano cassette and took all of 5 minutes to swap out, so you could easily have different cassettes depending on the riding you plan to do.You will want the special tool for the lock nut.

A very nice competition worthy performance cassette. Extremely snappy shifting with my tiagra 4800 rear mech. Packaging a little confusing: box says 10 speed but only 9 cogs are visible. To save space, the smallest cog is packed underneath where it cannot be seen. Holding the box you cannot verify if that cog is 11 or 12 teeth (which made me reluctant to open the box and have any return issues).A few hundred miles later the cogs show minimal wear and shifting is still sharp. I am careful to wipe down my chain and relube it as well as brush off the cassette with simple green.I have run the 11 cog variant if this cassette and am pleased with it. I will buy another when this wears out.

I looked around on ebay and a few other on-line sources that friends mentioned to me. Yet in the end, Amazon had the best price on the gear ratio that I needed. I could not believe how fast the items arrived to me in Hawaii ... and the shipping was free.I was adding this cassette to a pair of Bontrager X Lite wheels from ebay. It was boxed perfect; easy to install. The first ride was up the Chain of Craters Road in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It worked flawless. This is the one to buy. No need for that SRAM cassette tricked out of one piece of aluminum. Who cares? Save the $$$ - buy a few bottles of wine instead. If you need to save that few grams weight .... hmmm ....

I had to choose between this and the Red rear cassette. After doing my research I was still torn. This is a component where there is a real weight differential between the two lines ( Red and Force), and also a severe cost differential. I wound up putting this cassette on my new build and decided if I really wanted to drop some more weight later , I would buy the Red rear cassette and new race wheels. The Red cassette is beautiful, but for bang for your buck, save the extra $150.00 and get this cassette. You won't be sorry. It shifts just as smooth and I've had not one problem from the start with it. Shifts are clean, smooth and quiet. Great cassette.

I bought this for my Specialized Source Expert hybrid. It came with an 11-32 PG1050 cassette and SRAM Apex derailleur, but once I added racks and panniers for touring and loaded them up, I was concerned about the bike's ability to climb hills with only a 2 X 10 drivetrain. Rather than go the expense of changing to a triple crankset, I went with the11-36 PG1070 and lost three gear inches in my lowest gearing, more than enough to get me over most hills. The only adjustment I had to make was to tighten the b-adjust screw (the one on the back of the derailleur) a couple of turns to back the upper jockey wheel away from the chain. works like a charm.

I’ve used the 1070 cassette for over 10 years and it’s been flawless. The shifts are crisp, regardless of the chain. I’ve paired it with the SRAM 1070 and KMC XL10 SL chains with no issues. The only drawback is the price is typically higher than the comparable Shimano Ultegra cassette. The SRAM 1070 11-28T and Ultegra 11-28T have slightly different cog sizes, but difference is subtle. Plus if I use a Shimano cassette on my Bontrager wheelset, I need to use a 1mm spacer. I don’t need the spacer using a SRAM. I’m a bit brand loyal to SRAM cassette, and want to spread the wealth amongst manufacturers.

The 12-25 SRAM PG1070 cassette is the best value for your SRAM road groupset - Rival, Force, or Red. Yes, there are cheaper. Yes, there are lighter. This one is the best use of your money if you want a very good cassette for a reasonable price. Shifting is smooth and consistent. I got about 8,500 miles out of my last one.The 12-25 gearing will give you good enough gearing for rolling hills and decent top speed for the flats but not the best for either. It's right in the middle of those ranges, so an 11-28 would be better for big mountains and 11-23 for fast flats with little climbing.

I own about 10 different SRAM and Shimano cassettes and love the 1070 series. They are reliable and lighter weight than the Shimano cassettes in the same price range. THey are comparable to the Shimano Ultegra and the gearing options in the SRAM cassettes are better (you have a LOT more options). I also like that I can break them down and swap cogs between cassettes to build my own gear ratios after I have enough of them. They are great and I would recommend them to anyone who is competitive on a budget. If you can afford to, the SRAM Red is lighter, but same performance.

I bought the 11-26T PG1070 cassette to upgrade from the 11-32T PG1050. Running it with a compact 50-34T Rival crank and a sram apex mid cage rear derailleur. Completely compatible (my LBS didn't even have to cut the chain) and I'm definitely loving every minute of it out here in CA. It is light weight compared to the PG1050 (though I don't notice it), and the ratios are perfect for me. It also feels as though it was built with much better materials, especially the lockring. If you're looking for a cassette I'd definitely recommend this one.

This is probably the best bang for your buck in cassettes. Low weight, very high quality and a high range of possibilities on the teeth .I asked the seller to ship it asap for a competition I had and it was home 5 days earlier than expected! (It shipped from Taiwan to Florida in 3 days!)The only drawback is that I ordered a 11-32 and got a 12-32... The box had the X marked at 11-32 but inside it was a different set unfortunatelly. I hope the seller (BrinVO) looks at this and put more attention on the next orders.

I up graded the rear end of my trike (20 inch wheel to 26 inch) and had to replace the cassette. This is a very nice cassette and does not make a sound when coasting (I really like that). I have about 400 miles on it and so far it is working great. My trike weights about 40 lb and I can carry up to 45 lb when I go camping. With a total load of around 300 lb I needed a cassette that can take a load and keep going in the dirt, mud and rain. So far this one is looking good.

This thing can help you climb! I like the color and love the range of gears. I can sprint and climb! This morning I was able to climb a short 18% grade without getting off my bike, a first for me. Also I was able to do a 10% climb for 20+ minutes. Another first for me. If you need help climbing, look no further.I only had one small problem where I had to add some of my old spacers between the cassette and the hub so it would not wobble. Just be aware of that.
