I never thought I would utter (or type) these words, but I seriously LOVE this garbage can. I like to keep a tidy house. Some say I'm OCD. I say I like things to look nice. I hated the garbage can in my kitchen. You'd but the garbage bag over the rim and that plastic just hanging there would annoy the heck out of me. This is seriously ingenious. You open the garbage can, slip the liner in (they giver you 10 to start), put the rim around the liner and close it. No ugly plastic hanging over the edges and the can looks great. It's also great that it's fingerprint resistant so I don't have to shine the thing (who wants to shine a garbage can every day) and I love the foot pedal (it really does work well)and the way the lid closes slowly so there's no chance of getting little hands or anything else slammed in it on accident. This is really worth every penny both for the aesthetic appeal and the sanitary aspects. Plus it works exactly the way it's supposed to. Very nice product.

Maybe you need to be a middle-aged woman to love a trashcan... but that's what I am and I ADORE this can! No really, sometimes I give it an affectionate little pat.I LOVE:- I love simplehuman specially sized bags. Yes they're a bit more money but they're stronger! And they fit perfectly.- I love simplehuman liner rims. They keep the bag in place so it doesn't move around every time you open the can. And they reduce spilling when emptying things into the can, because there is no sag or gap in the bag.- I love the nice pedal and the soft close lid- I love the easy wipe surface- I have a bigger simplehuman can in my kitchen (and one advantage to that is the special pouch for bag storage)but this model is perfect in my rec room because it has a slim footprint but is so easy to use (by which I mean you don't need to open the lid with your hands) that my grubby boys through their trash away when down there.Bottom Line: simplehuman simply makes the best trashcans ever!

I have had several SimpleHuman trash cans, two of which are still in my house, even though they are both more than ten years old. This is a beautiful trash can. The pictures of it just can not do it justice: this is an elegant looking trash can. It has a narrow footprint so that it fits really nicely at the end of our island. I have it pulled out a bit because my counter comes out over it and the long narrow lid comes up and hits it. I will eventually find the perfect place for it.I like the way the lid stays up. My former favorite one needed something stuck under the lid for that to work, and it was sometimes aggravating. The foot pedal action is a little sluggish. It needs to be pushed down hard but I imagine it is because it is still new.The only thing I do not approve of in the SimpleHuman line is the price of the bags. Each bag is individually engineered, just kidding. I go to a Big Box B store with my 20% off coupon to buy them.

This odd shaped can has been a perfect fit for an odd place: in my laundry room. We've been trying to find a nice looking can to put our recycling in, but there isn't much room between the washer, dryer, and the wall. Fortunately, the simple human slim fits in the spot with grace and elegance. The foot pedal works very well, its handy, and i like it better than my older foot pedal operated can as well as my new auto-opening battery operated can.A cool detail, when you put in the bag, there is a piece of plastic that goes OVER the edge of the bag, so you can't even see the edge of the bag. It makes a 2 inch lip that goes over the outer part of the trash can. This not only keeps the bag in place but also makes it impossible for any foodstuffs to land "on the edge" of the bag.The finish is beautiful and classy, and doesn't show any fingerprints.Overall, I think its a great can and I would heartily recommend it.

Simple human is a truly quality brand that has been well designed to accommodate a modern home. I say this with a certain amount of knowledge, I have three of their garbage receptacles in my home. This replaces my current kitchen can which has been relegated to under the snack bar for can recycling. My husband likes this can's solid foot pedal which opens with ease. I like its interior can which is easy to take out and put in which holds garbage bags securely and cannot be seen. This can holds plenty, but is a compact contoured design that fits easily in a tight space. The exterior is stainless which works back to my kitchen appliances and manages to stay very clean and very bright and is an asset to our kitchen. This comes with sample S/H bags that fit well, but are not particularly strong or flexible. I suggest going with a commercial trash bag. They work fairly well. This is beautiful and efficient. I love it.

I love these, even though it sounds a little strange to love a trash can. It's attractive. I have several of them scattered around the house in different sizes and shapes. This one is a space-saver. Some are round and take up more space, although they also hold more. This one uses the 'N' trash bags. You can use the other sizes and get away with it just fine, but if you want to do it right, it's the 'N' that is meant to be used with it.Personally, I prefer the ones with the round bullet-openings in the top and no step opener. It accomplishes the same thing. You don't need your hands for the round bullet-opening ones. I can be across the room from it and throw something into it.I haven't had any problem with odors from them even though there is no lid covering that opening, but it might be a problem if you have children or pets that are curious about what's in there. If you want a step-can, this one is great.

Don’t laugh but I’m kind of a trash can nerd. When it’s an item I use every day I want it to be well designed, and not annoy me each time. I’m a fan of simpleuman cans and I’ve been using the butterfly one for years. This is an improvement on that design and cheaper. The step mechanism feels high quality and it doesn’t take much force because the top is thin. What makes it so great is the collar below the lifting top that hides the bad liner. You don’t have to cram the liner into a tight spot to keep it looking tidy. Another key feature is that the lid and collar can lock in the open position so that it’s easy to take the bag out of the can.I know this seems ridiculously expensive for a trash can,but I can tell you that I’ve tried many and this is the best yet. If you care about quality and you can afford a luxury purchase like this, I don’t think you’ll regret it.

This container blends really well with our stainless steel appliances; much better than the Rubbermaid we have used for the past ten years. This Simple Human can is sleek, modern, and fits well into a smaller space. I do have one objection: It takes special bags--a couple of inches longer, and and inch or so narrower. I went on-line to order some only to find that they are sold out. I shopped all 'Simple Human' products while I was on the site. They have a lovely compost bin that slides off-and-on the waste container. Alas, the compost bin is also sold out. I'm not faulting the company for this. I think it is the era we live in. A generic 13 gal kitchen waste bag should work as well. Maybe, someday, in the not too distant future, my desired items will be back in stock. Here's to a better future. Meanwhile, I am lovin' this can.

What I love about this trashcan is that it fits a narrow space in my kitchen. And I love the foot pedal, I do not have to touch any surfaces when discarding my trash into the can. It is also very quiet when the lid comes down. This design has a double rim design so that you place your garbage back inside the rim, then close the lid. You cannot see the garbage bag, only this beautiful trashcan. It is brushed steel, which matches all of my kitchen appliances. It came with 10 extra bags and a warranty. The only thing I wish was that the bottom of the trashcan was nonslip. We have tile floors with a grated design, not slick tiles. The trashcan moves a little every time we use it, and at the end of the day,I have to place it back in its original spot. Other than that, I am very happy to find this trashcan.

This can is OK but not the best that I have tried. If you want a can that is tall and narrow to save space, then this one fits the bill. This is also a good option for those who don't want to mess with batteries and want to avoid automatic/electrical cans altogether. But keep in mind that you have to press down on the step pedestal hard enough to open the lid, which requires more force than you might think. Also, I notice that if the can is empty, this often causes the entire can to 'wobble' back and forth a bit. Unless you specifically want a can that avoids batteries, you might want to consider the automatic (sensor activated) can that is maid by SimpleHuman and seems to be within the same price range as this product.Personally, I prefer the effortless TapCan by Halo even though it is pricier.

- Very nice so far in the month or so I've had this- Does exactly what it says, mechanism seems durable- I still can't believe how expensive trash cans are howeverUPDATE:I bought this trash can in Oct 2017 and it performed well for about 2.5 years. For the last 6mo or so the various mechanisms and fittings have deteriorated to the point where the pedal gets stuck as does the lid in the open position.I don't assume the "ten year warranty" would ever be honored so not even going to bother trying.Overall cost (not counting bags) is about $3/mo until it needs replaced. Not bad, but wish it lasted longer as I hate throwing out metal.I have tried cleaning and servicing it best I could but this isnow a weekly chore I don't want to do anymore.

I was SUPER reluctant to spend $100 on a trash can, but its been totally worth it. I love everything about it, from the fingerprint-proof finish to the silent close lid to the liner rim. It completely lives up to the product description. Plus, it couldn't fit more perfectly between a wall and the stove in my kitchen. A nice added bonus is that I didn't need to purchase the SimpleHuman liners. I've used both Hefty and Glad, which fit just right. I spent very little on my previous trash can and it showed: rust, fingerprints, sharp pieces at the bottom of the can piercing trash bags, a lid that loudly banged shut. I have never regretted this purchase. It still looks brand new too after one year and I'm anticipating many more to come!

We needed to replace our 14 yr old Simple human bin when the hinged lids gave up the ghost. This is the only one we found which will fit the very narrow space under the kitchen counter top. We did send for one (different brand, cheaper) with a sensor lid but had to return it as it was too sensitive to the counter top. This one is straightforward and although it’s a bit of a faff changing the bags, easy enough - and the bonus of wheels at the rear helps with pulling it out and putting it back. One minor caveat seems to be that you must always use the pedal to open the lid - don’t force it up by hand or the soft close mechanism will be damaged. So far impressively mark-free. So a good buy.I hope it will last as long as the other!

We looked at more than a dozen trashcans because.... they expensive. It fit our space perfectly and what it has that the others struggle with is a metal foot mechanism instead of plastic. Visit Target or Walmart and look at the mechanism and lookup reviews. This trashcan doesn't have that Achilles heel. We have been impressed with it's ability to prevent smelly food from filling our apartment. It takes 2 weeks before a trashbag with raw items needs to be taken out and the smell doesnt stain in the trashcan. Also, we have used the glad trashbags and the manufacturer ones. They both work just fine! Don't be sloppy like some of the pictures.Hide the trashbag under the cover like it's intended to do!

The garbage can arrived yesterday; I have been using it for 24 hours so far and am in love with it! I did a lot of research before purchasing this one. I love the slimness and the fact that so far I have not had to change the bag (with a family of five). It blends in beautifully into my kitchen, even adding a modern touch. My kids don't have to touch the lid and get germy anymore; it opens so so smoothly with just a tap of the foot. I do wonder how I will clean it in the event that the bags leak in to the can...The lid does not stay propped open...it would be a good idea to somehow be able to lock the lid in case I need to clean it or if I want to put in garbage continuously.
