Arrived really soon after ordering, I installed my new rear Shimano Acera MT400 disc brake.I was immediately disappointed - noisy braking (when dry!) and hardly any power at all. I have installed lots of disk brakes before, and this was the first time I thought I'd got a faulty batch.I know some breaking in is needed, so I did so and after a few miles of braking down long hills, the brake noise totally dissappeared and the braking power became really good and very easy to modulate. It's not quite as good a combination as my XT brakes with Ice rotors, but I'd say these are about 80% as good in every way. I read that the MT200 brakes are nowhere near as good, by the way,so I invested £30 more for the MT400's and these disks.I don't know how they are in the wet yet, but I hope they are quieter than my Tektro Auriga setup this replaces, which even with genuine Shimano pads (same as MT400 I think) fitted, were embarrassingly loud in the wet. Many reviews state these are much quieter, so here's hoping. My XTs are far quieter, so this should be true being a better product than Tektro in my view (I've been using almost every alternative for over 30 years, and now only use Shimano - it really is the best).I've strayed away from the disk in this review, but you can't really rate a disk on its own so thought this might help someone to know what brakes I'm using it with.

I use the SM-RT66 203mm rear and front on my DH bikes, instead of the Deore XT SM-RT86 brake disc with Saint BR-M820 brake callipers and the H01A Ice-Tech disc brake pads Resin. (With the metal version I have no experience) per season I need about 4 brake sets rear and front. In a direct comparison from the RT66 to the RT86, I can hardly find any differences with my weight of 75 kg, except that the RT86 costs more than twice. The RT66 buzzing when braking is but otherwise almost 100% quiet. In contrast to the RT86 the wet mostly their "singing" to the best. The RT86 is less sensitive to wear with the brake lining, but is less than the minimum thickness after the wear of the brake pads and builds on braking performance. Not so the RT66, it knows up to the complete wear of the brake pads, always the necessary minimum thickness. Also well I think that the RT66 more endures until it has Seitenschlag. Perfect for me! Ps. Almost forgotten! Delaying this can be both excellent!

Well Made stainless disc supplied with 6 new pins and three extra locking plates. The three locking links have a small piece with a small bend that locks into outer back edge of studs. These are to prevent studs coming loose, to remove you would flatten the little bend in plate. Hope images I've added explain better than my words.

Price / performance was really good. After I had slowed it delicately, I was fully satisfied. Good roundness and reliability. Summtens beautifully evenly at the brakes and can be packed when it arrives. Extremely fast dry to brake when it is wet.

I have upgraded from 203 (SM-RT55) to 203 mm (SM-RT66) at the front, the braking performance is much better than before. At the rear I replaced the disc from 180 (SM-RT55) to 180 mm (SM-RT66), also here a better braking performance is felt.

Nice solid component, well packaged and dead straight, I'm using sintered pads. I checked with the Shimano site and there ok for metal and organic pads, (the Shimano disk a few quid cheaper isn't ) it stops really well. No complaints so far

I have used this rota for only a few weeks but so far am very pleased with it. My brakes are the original Hope Minis, which from the start suffered from squeeking. With these Shimano rotas there has been no squeezing. Recommended.

These are my go-to disc every time.Great performance disc, great value for money, more durable than the ice-tech versions and its hard to see a performance difference?Best brake disc you're gonna get at any price

It’s brilliant, it slows me down over very rough terrain, at high speed, and I weigh nearly 18 stone. I have mechanical shimano brakes fitted (M375).It’s also very easy to adjust.

Top brake discs! Have again mounted the same, who were already on the bike and with whom I was very satisfied over the years! Easy to assemble! Good assembly instructions!

Old pads and rotors were squealing and no amount of cleaning would help. New rotor and new resin pads and the stopping power is increased hugely and the squealing gone.

Shimano disc for my new winter wheels Fast delivery. Direct in the box by express transport. In case of breaks the deadlines allow to repair for the following weekend.

Top value for money. Half as expensive as my formula discs and at least twice as good. No squeaking, no rattling, just pure bremspower. I'll stick with it.

I replaced the original Magura brake discs with these discs. These Shimano discs make significantly less annoying grinding smells than the Magura discs.

Hello I have this brake disc on my bike, and can only recommend it. I now drive about 200 km with the discs, but there are almost no use traces.
