Strange I have ridden bikes since my youth some 45 years I guess and have never had to replace a gear cable until now. It has been fitted to my daughter's expensive mountain bike which is only 3 years old and does 1 mile a day to the school and back. It does not get any abuse and is looked after and stored inside. This bike can only have done 150 miles max and yet the gear cable broke! I have replaced with this one and made very sure it's not snagging any where so we shall see.....Its hard to review an item that will only show its quality with time but be sure if its rubbish I will be back to finish this review.

Just the job. Got this to replace previous snapped cable. Easy to fit by myself (using youtube vids) but then I dont expect shimano to include instructions for every bike type. Maybe a handy link to some vids or top tips to fit would have been a good idea(?).

Stuff I wanted to know before I bought it. This is the inner cable only. It comes with a crimp on end tidy included. It has a barrel end, with the barrel length in line with the cable and the barrel dimensions of 4.3mm long and 4.3mm diameter.

It is striking that it is very thin. A few times loosen and tighten the locking screws is not recommended, because then the Schaltinzug dissolves a little. But that's probably the case everywhere. Otherwise good value for money! Recommended!

av ed loads of gear, brake cables and ive tried to save sometimes, but never again these are the best.just remember to get them from amazom,dont go to places like halfords same cable 3 yep 3 times the price

Dear people, these are Bowden cables, as a spare parts store! What should I rate there? I'm just assuming that the trains perform their work of switching correctly at some point in the mission!

Already use other cables and must say only the original of Shimano are very durable and very well made. With proper care and use unspeakable.

Material good. A huge package for something that has space in a letter envelope. I do not understand. Postage could be saved a lot.

A straight swap for a frayed gear cable - has not required any maintenance and shifts ideally on the bog standard Sora shifters.
