I purchased this Shimano Nexave C5000 HG FE because I needed a strong, fast yet compact reel that weighs half as much as my other large Shimanos. I tried it for the first time last weekend off the rocks in F6-7 Beaufort , spooled with 40mm line. I am satisfied at the way it handled. It tolerated no nonsense from a couple of big bream (saragi) I landed. Even after three or 4 hours of fishing I could lift the rod high up in the air with one hand to avoid getting the mainline snagged with the rocks underneath me. I purchased this reel from Marlin Blu di Montanari and received it very fast with very good tracking.

SHIMANO reel quality product !! Feels very smooth.Cast a mile with 4lb mono.line lay is great.replaces olde sedona 1000 series with failing~bail mechanism.has only 3 bearings but for this size and cost feels like a more expensive reel. tyme will tell....I highly recommend this product! seller provided scratch free-cosmetically perfect pre-owned reel.well done !!

I like the reel. The quaily is just what you get for the money you pay. I have had those since 2003. I was buying Nexave models. I would say this is great reel for evryday freshwater fishing. The only thing I would change is the plastic handle (but like I said that’s what you get for the price you pay).

5 stars based on price and previous experience with Shimano typically Stradics. Bought a SeaKnight based on 4.8 rating 500 reviews. See review. Returned it and got something I can trust. I'll update after use but this cost the same as a SeaKnight or Kastking.

For the price point, you will forget you're using a cheaper Shimano reel, this thing has very smooth action and feels like a quality high dollar one. I have only used it a few times but, I think it is going to last a good while before I have any issues.

I haven't tried the reel yet but as always Shimano is a guarantee. Very nice design of the coil .. Unfortunately the box arrived damaged but the supplier was willing to make me a partial return .. Excellent response. TOP supplier / customer relationship

I have a similar priced pfleugar reel. I like this better, and if given the choice I would buy this again. I haven't got to use is a lot, but initial impressions from the first few times out are all good.

Caught some fish on it already, nothing huge. Got into some snags with it, had to button down drag to get my line back. Reel seems to be holding up just fine. Typical $45 Shimano reel, no complaints.

Shimano rods and reels are the best, you can not go wrong. I especially like this one. Very smooth casting, no tangling, and smooth reeling in with a 9lb bass I just caught. Great control.

I've always liked this name brand. Have my bbn own reels in this brand. But I got these for a couple friends who needed new reels. These where Christmas gifts.

Great smooth reels ! Ordered 2 of them for my wife and I. We were very impressed on how great they were. Solid made and seems like they should last.
