I run an 1/8" chain on it but ideally suited to a narrower chain I think. Don't know what shimano recommends. Wear rate good especially as chain sinks down into sprocket as opposed to wearing teeth flat as on a cassette. Will outlast your chainring mine was totally stripped but this little guy kept going. Have used one before that's how I know.
