I've not fitted a chain since back in the 80's and in my early teens, but I still had my chain breaker tool (which you will need to make it the correct length). When I opened up the the packet I instantly thought the split link clip was missing. After reading the instructions I saw that this type of connector doesn't need one, it just needs you to slightly force the chain towards you, thus making the two pins sticking out, come together slightly so the fastening clip can snap on. On release of the chain the pins which were being slightly forced together return to their normal position, which holds the fastening clip tight.

I put the chain on to a Marin MTB (8x3 gears). Easy to connect and disconnect using the special link. I have disconnected the chain a couple of times to remove links. The knack to undoing the clip is to poke a thin screwdriver between clip and chain and then twist the chain so that it loosens the link and at the same time twist the screwdriver to pop the clip off. Don't forget to order a chain assembly tool to take out excess links (I removed 4 links). Also, when taking out links remember not to completely pop out the rivets in case you need to reattach them. I read up prior to buying, already had a link removal tool so removed the 7 links required (include the quick link) and used the supplied quick link attached to the bag the chain came in. Fitting the link was a nightmare as I'd somehow managed to bend it out over (or it came like that) and simply couldn't get it to reach the other end. I straightened it with 2 pairs of small pliers and bam! Problem solved. So check the link hasn't bent prior to posting bad reviews or poking around youtube!

This chain was not expected to be in stock for another 4 days upon ordering, however, Amazon emailed me 2 days later and I had the chain the following day before the chain was expected to be in stock! Chain comes pre lubricated with a master link and suited my needs perfectly. Would definitely order again.

As usual for Shimano stuff, an amazing quality bike chain. My kid had left there bike at the top of the garden for a few nights (grrr) and the chain was rusting to the point it was going to take forever to take off with wire wool - so for a few quid it was easier to get a new chain.Top marks, Shimano!

Its a bike chain what more can I say? I couldn't figure out how to put the easy link remover on the chain though and there were no clear instruction as to how to go about it so that's why I am giving 4 stars. It was my first time fitting a new chain though so maybe I was just not looking at it right?

Bought this as a replacement and it arrived well within the expected time. Did not take long to fit and has been on the bike now for several weeks with absolutely no issues. Gear changes are great as well and would recommend it to any prospective buyer.

I've had this chain on my hard working commuting bike for a couple of months now (26 miles daily) and no problems at all. Its the first I have had with a joining link so I was dubious about reliablity, but all seems well - it hasn't fallen off yet!

Well made Shimano chain. I had no problems fitting, however this is down to my experience of using this type of split link. I have seen several negative reviews because of this, but once you know how to use the split link it is a good quality item.

Very good price for a new chainWasn't easy to install as I needed to use a chain tool whilst the link was already snapped to the size of being on the chain. Took a while to install but the chain is already lubed up and is good to go

Exactly what I wanted and a very good length so I was able to tailor make it for a good fit.You will need a pin extractor to remove links and fit chain - if you dont have one then order it at the same time!Good price too

Good value supplied in a box as you would expect and now has a Quick-Link, unlike the ones they used to ship just in a polythene sleeve with what looks more like a short cost reduced pin they might use in a bike shop.

Got it by the end of October 24th 2020 already stretched out of limits by December 4th 2020 besides the master link was the worst system I've ever seen in my life and impossible to remove this makes it useless

So much cheaper than the ones in-store. Good quality item (as expected from Shimano lol) would recommend for any cyclists out there who need a new chain (bearing in mind this is a chain for 16 speed bike)
