WOW!!! Not much else to be said. I have roughly 1,600 miles on a pair of these tires and just finished a 1,200 mile "Tour de Florida". I was fully loaded for self-contained tour. Granted, I took things on this tour I didn't really need, but this tour was a decision maker for a bicycle tour around the world.I didn't have an itinerary, so I took my time, visited with friends around the state and just did what I wanted to do. See Florida like I never have before in 2 months.I stayed mostly on roadways, although in the Everglades I ended up on 17 miles of a gravel trail. Which really had my decision to go on this trail reeling as there were so many alligators right on the trail. The tires also held up to an additional 7 miles of trail that was not maintained at all on the Lake Okeechobee Scenic TrailI just have to say, yes the rear tire is showing more wear than the front, I didn't swap the tires on the rims yet, front to back and back to front. But these tires held up very well considering the 108 lbs. of gear I was carrying. Knock on wood, I didn't have a single flat tire on the entire ride. Eventhough there were some areas I got nervous with what I was putting the tires through.OOOOOO YEA!!! I highly recommend these tires if you're worried where and what you're going to put them through. They are Durable!!!Update 3/5/2014: I can't get these tires to die!!! I want to put a new set on before I go on a 8 month tour around Europe, flying back into Toronto and pedaling down the Eastern Seaboard back home to Florida. 8,000+ miles now, riding daily, you can see they're worn, but haven't died yet. Annnnnd ..... Not a Flat "ONE"!!! The AWESOMENESS of bicycle tires for durability and dependability!!!

Update 18 April 2016 - I've been using these tyres for 1 year 3 months now. Still not one single puncture :) These tyres are excellent!I have done just over 4000km (2500 miles) on them and the tread is still really good. Even the reflective strips on the sidewalls still light up nicely when headlights hit them.If these tyres ever wear out I'll definitely be getting another set. Highly recommended.-------I've been running these on my MTB for almost 2 months now.My previous tyres (Continental Mountain Kings 2.2) I was averaging a puncture every 3 weeks on my thorn strewn route to work and back.So far I've had none with these tyres!Comparing them to my previous tyre the Marathon Plus':- rollbetter on tarmac (much better in fact).- are much quieter.- do not puncture easily at all.- are not as good in thick squiggy mud. They're still fine but I do feel them slip a bit more than my previous tyre.- are better at riding through snow - not sure why as I thought the Mountain Kings would have the edge as they are a more off-road type of tyre.- are just as easy to install on the wheel- are slightly heavier than my previous tyre, but I'm more than willing to add a couple of hundred grams to the weight of my bike if it means I don't have to stop and replace an inner tube in the rain on my way to work.I can't fault these tyres. If they remain as puncture-free as they have been so far they will be my replacement tyre, no doubt.

Following a roadside puncture and 3 failed repairs due to poor quality repair patches and kits, I decided to upgrade my tyre to one offering the potentially best possible puncture protection in a tubed tyre and stumbled across these rated as 7/7 puncture protection having already used a similar 4/7 Schwalbe tyre on my folding bike.I haven't have the tyre long enough to test its puncture-resist qualities but I have used the tyre, fitted to a heavy e-bike's rear wheel, on a range of surfaces including loose grit, dry sand, stone track, wet grass, wet road and a flooded road and found the grip to be exceptional combined with a very comfortable ride. The difference between this and my bike's original tyre was noticeable immediately.I'm hoping it will be a long time before I can report back on it fulfilling its puncture-resist qualities but if I do experience a puncture then I will update this review to share the tyre's performance. In the meantime, I am delighted with the improvement in ride quality and grip so ordered a second for the front wheel.I note some users have found the tyre difficult to fit. I have little strength or dexterity in my fingers following multiple fractures but fitted the 26x2" tyre myself in less than 10 minutes without any difficulty at all.

Cant fault these tyres so far, enough tread to do a little towpath, unpaved cycleways and wood tracks riding. Very fast rolling on the road, no noise at speed. Easy to fit I just used one tyre lever to get the last bit of bead into the rim. Fit will depend on exact rim size as there is quite a tolerance on bike tyres and rims.Time will tell on punctures but as the central part of the tread must be 7 mm + thick it will take a fairly lucky nail or thorn to get through. The sidewalls are quite sturdy compared to my previous Kendras, I used Slime inners, probably overkill but as the bike back wheel has a big fat motor in it removing it at the roadside would be a pain.Good road grip even on leafy wet roads but obviously take care,no two wheeled vehicle with any type of tyre on should be hooned around on when the roads are wet and busy. Result is potentially a car tenderising the rider!First impressions are that these will last well , ride is a little firmer at the same pressure than previous tyres as they are stiffer and more rugged. I brought mine at 51 for a pair a bargain.

After getting multiple punctures on my way to and from work I decided to look around for some better tires. These seemed to stick out as some highly rated ones so I thought I'd try them out. Once I fitted them to my bike, which wasn't as hard as some reviewers made out, I haven't had a problem with punctures since. I used to ride 23 miles a day, 5 days a week, some of it through country lanes where they mow the hedges and the thorny cuttings lie in the road. I went over thorny twigs, broken glass and any number of other things that would have gone straight through regular tires. No more punctures means these tires get a 5 star rating from me. You may not be as swift as someone on those 'paper thin'tires but while they are by the side of the road with the puncture repair kit out you can continue on your journey (after asking if they're ok!) without fear of a flat.

Tough tyres! The cycle route to my workplace is 'helpfully' lined with hawthorn bushes. This resulted in regular punctures and roadside repairs...not good on a cold and wet morning ride to work. However, these Schwalbe tyres seem to be tough enough to (fingers crossed as I type this) withstand b*stard hawthorn thorns and other roadside crap/pieces of metal/glass etc. The armoured inner rubber layer inside the tyres looks pretty substantial, but they are not too heavy (I am riding a hybrid/commuter style bike, not a racing type with skinny tyres) and seem to roll along nicely on tarmac/concrete without too much resistance. I have coupled them with some gunk filled inner tubes as double defence, but as I say, fingers crossed, all good so far, and recommended to anyone riding on variable terrain/gravel/glass-strewn roads in North London!Read full review...

I've been running this since February, and now am cycling very regularly. Prior to fitting this tyre (and new tubes), I was running my bike's stock tyres, which offered no puncture resistence whatsoever, and, living in a rural area, I picked up several punctures from various bits of road rubbish. Since fitting these tyres, I have had precisely 0 punctures. In that time, I've been living in Reading, and have ridden over shards of broken glass, general refuse, rough ground, fields, gravel, etc. My bike has always had great handling, and these tyres don't affect it at all, although there is definitely a limit to how far you can lean the bike over, and they feel a little weak when the ground is wet (worse than the stock tyres, which were quite good), or muddy. On dry surfaces, providing you don't try and be too crazy, they'll give you plenty of grip.

This is a great tyre with excellent puncture protection and increased wear resistance due to the knobbly bits, which will most likely increase the overall life of the tyre.I've been using it for about 5 weeks on my very puncture - prone route (where normal marathons repeatedly failed) and I haven't had a single puncture. The large volume of the tyre makes for a nice and comfy ride. The only con is that on the road, the knobbly bits can feel a bit unstable when cornering as well as making a fair amount of noise compared to my otherwise noiseless slicks. I just keep a grippy tyre on the front, and I feel stable on the bike. The solution might be to go for a normal marathon plus, which doesnt have knobbly bits (but is thinner).I never give anything 5 stars, so 4 stars for this item is a strong recommendation!

Been using these tires for about five years now. They are simply the best; I like the size of the tire, between ugly mountain bike and pencil thin racer wannabe. They are stable and fast on a variety of normal conditions. And yes, likely you'll wear those treads out before a puncture happens.Edit, week later: I'd ordered two, which arrived on separate days, and reviewed after the first was received. The second one had a defect (wavy profile at one area), which is the first time for me (I've gone through six of these!). I did the warranty thing through the Schwalbe website and got a new tire real snappy without any back and forth. I'm amazed :->

These tyre are almost impossible to kill. I have had my current pair 3 years and have done about 5000 miles on them. They are showing very little sign of any wear and will likely do another 5000 miles. I have had no punctures at all in that time, despite doing 90% of my riding on trails and unmetalled roads. Yes they are expensive and a little heavy but they are worth every penny as you have peace of mind.If you are spending some of your cycle miles off of concrete and tarmac then the 'tour' version of the Marathon plus is definitely the one to go for on your hybrid or tourer bike.

Roads in Scotland are rough - to say the least. On my commute, roads and cycling paths are full of debris that is causing punctures on a weekly basis but I replaced my rear schwalbe marathon tyre with the marathon plus and for 3 years now I haven’t had a single puncture. Over the past two weeks I experienced two punctures on the front and I’ve replaced now this one as well.Be careful during winter months though. Marathon plus are really hard tyres - for obvious reasons - and they don’t behave well on ice! But for me that’s a minor issue as I’m using winter tyres with spikes.

Absolutely outstanding quality tires! They immediately upgraded our bikes, in both feel and performance, and our chronic flat tire problems are a thing of the past. I will not hesitate to install these on any bike I ever own, from here on out!Update 10/26/2016: These tires continue to impress me. Over the last couple months I've put over 300 miles on them with ZERO problems. I even had an incident with running over a carpet tack strip that was laying in the street, and it did not even come close to puncturing. Still love them, and highly recommend!

Having bought an expensive German bike I expected to have decent tyres, they wee allegedly puncture resist but obviouslr as I discovered they were not. I ordered the Schalbe Marathon Plus as I had had previous good experience with them. When they arrived the difference in quality was quite marked compared to the original tyres. I had no prblem fitting them and now ride with more confidence. An excellent product, noticeably superior in manufacturing quality, I have no hesitation in recommending them. To date I have been puncture free?

It has a reflective strip along the sidewall for additional visibility when riding at night. The tire weighs almost 3 and a half pounds, but it is a thick tire. I also installed two tire liners for extra flat protection. This is as close as I can get to an airless tire. I cannot find a 29 inch airless mountain bike tire. I have ridden 1,200 miles without a flat. My bike is my transportation so reducing the chance of flats when commuting to work and hauling home refrigerated and frozen food is of the utmost importance to me.

11.10.2014

These tires aren't quite flat proof, but they are close enough to it for any normal road hazard encountered. I had problems with other brands (even with liners) being punctured by the little steel wire debris left by truck blowouts along side the roadway. The only things that have gotten to these in a full season of riding has been a 3" deck screw and a large shard of glass. No fault of the tire, just bad luck on those days. If you like riding better than flat fixing these are what you need.
