I bought these just over a year ago to replace some old unbranded tyres on my road bike having recently punctured them cycling around London and dealing with some pretty rough and tough road conditions and these did not disappoint.I commute to work daily around West London, specifically within a 5 mile radius of Heathrow, coming across all kinds of road conditions from quiet residential streets to busy dual carriageways like the Bath Road/A4. I do around 80-100 miles a week. You name it I've cycled over it from speed bumps to potholes, gravel, broken glass, nuts and bolts and whatever other trash and debris gets left in the gutter much of which I have been unable to avoid because of circumstances on the road. Not a single puncture and not even much wear showing either given the several thousand miles I've put on them (4000 ish?). Just great.Fast forward to a new accounting year and a new bike on a cycle to work scheme (yay!). Decent bike with good branded wheels and tyres (Eastway E28s with Kenda tyres) but 3 days in and the rear has popped. So here I am writing a review and buying a fresh set of Marathons to put on (I'll be changing the front too before that punctures). These aren't fast or pretty but when you need to get somewhere on time and reliability is key these are absolutely brilliant but you won't win many races on them if that's your thing. I bought these Marathons with the following inner tubes in anyone is interested: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000NJL6OM/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought a pair of these back in November 2015 and they're still on the bike to this day. I've had zero punctures during that time.I commute on my bike (8 miles per day, all weathers) and remember going through a phase where I was getting a lot of punctures with my stock tyres. As I was primarily using the bike for commuting, I wasn't too fussed about the additional weight that came with these tyres. There is a noticeable heaviness even compared to my stock tyres, which to be honest probably weren't anything special, but the additional weight wasn't enough to be a concern when you consider how effective these are at preventing punctures. The tyres were a pain in the - tricky to fit.I'm not a particularly good mechanic by any stretch, but I'd been taking my old tyres off on the side of the road with no issue. These however took me a good 10-20 minutes to get on in the comfort of a kitchen, claiming the lives of one or two tyre levers in the process. My local bike shop have had the tyres off multiple times when fitting new wheels and they've always made it look annoyingly easy. Just something to bear in mind, as I think it could be tricky for the average joe - armed with cold fingers and fragile plastic tyre levers accumulated from various Christmas gift sets - to remove roadside were a puncture to occur mid-ride.But the whole point of these tyres is that you shouldn't have to worry about punctures, and in my experience they've performed admirably. Excellent value too. Would fully recommend.

Bought one of these tyres for my racing bike 2 months ago. I kept getting punctures on my front wheel (I used to have Continental Ultra Gator Skin Trye 700x23 DS - they wore down in about 3 months and I was getting punctures nearly once a month). These tyres feel loads better and so far I haven't had a single puncture; I appreciate it's still early days (I'll update if it changes). As you can see from the product photo the Marathon plus tyres have a "smart guard" layer between the inner of the tyre and the outside. You can physically feel this layer and so far it has given me the protection I need against London's pot-hole/broken glass-ridden roads. An additional feature of this tyre is the reflective coating along both edges of the tyre. I didn't notice this when I first purchased but it is great. I often cycle home in the dark after work and if, for example, I am facing side-on to a car i.e., when you are turning right at a T-junction, this adds an extra opportunity for drivers to see you (often your bike lights will be on the front and back of the bike... not the side).TIP: like other people have stated, these tyres are tight-fitting and relatively difficult to fit, but I am no expert and I managed to do it. I found wearing my cycling gloves helped me grip the tyre better, allowing me to ease it onto the wheel. It does take some time though. ALSO: because the tyres is tight fitting, make sure you don't pinch the inner tube when you put the tyre on, otherwise you will get a flat instantly!

I bought a pair of these tyres after having four punctures (one back, three front) in less than three weeks. I had two front end let-downs in the space of 20 minutes one Saturday morning ride so I'd either been very unlucky or my (factory fitted) Continental tyres weren't up to the job. Reading some of the reviews it seemed that a possible drawback was the ease or not of fitting them but I must say for someone as bike DIY useless as I am I found that I was able to put them on without too much hassle. I used the cable tie (at about 1/3 intervals around the wheel) method and even with plastic tyre levers got them both on and inflated up to 100psi without any major hold ups. Now for the really good bit, once fitted they look like the dog's bollocks with the black & slver edge and when it gets dark (take a flash photograph) the reflective strip does what it says on the tin! Once I've ridden for a few weeks/miles I'll return to update the review wrt how puncture proof they are. One last thing, they weigh an extra 200gms each more than the Continental ones I took off but at my age and ambition that marginal gain stuff does not come into it. I want to ride around the city and along canal towpaths and not get punctures!

Brilliant tyre for the commute to work. Yes they do feel a bit heavy and remote at first, but I am not racing on them. What they have ensured, is that I am not pushing my bike too and from work. I am on my second set and my first set suffered no punctures in two years. Good enough for me. They are not too difficult to fit, you can do it by hand alone. However, be careful not to trap the inner tube between the rim and the tyre wall, this will cause a nip puncture. I think a few negative reviews may be due to this. Take care with inflation to ensure that the tyre is seated on the rim properly, you may need a couple of goes at this. The wire in the tyre means that there is not as much 'give'as in a non wired tyre. Once on it will give you trouble free commuting. I recommend the Schwalbe inner tubes too. They give superior air retention. I also run with slime inside from the start should disaster strike! I can leave my bike either at work or home and go to it confident that the tyres are still up! Peace of mind when winter is coming. Will not stop some prat sticking a Phillips screwdriver through the sidewall, hence the second set, but damn near perfect.

I bought these tyres as I was getting so fed up with having punctures.Averaging at least 2 per week, sometimes getting 2 on a single journey.I was appalled at their weight when they were delivered!HOWEVER and it is a big however I am now 1000 miles in and no punctures!!I have stopped even carrying my previous puncture repair kit and now just carry 1 spare inner tube.So I have managed to reclaim some of the extra weight.I have actually even changed my riding style and have stopped avoiding glass and other road obstacles, I simply go over them with these tyres. This has made me a safer cyclist as I am able to simply go straighter.I even hit a pothole the other day that was so bad I thought Ibroken my wheel and yet these tyres allowed me to continue on wards with no issues. With my previous tyres this 1 pothole would have blown both the inner-tube and tyre. For a long puncture free journey I would not hesitate to recommend, however the weight is an issue although getting less as I complete more puncture free miles.

My daily commute takes me along gravel tracks where the flints just shred tyres. I used to use Bontrager hardcase tyres and over 10000 miles they averaged 308 miles between punctures. Fronts used to last between 3-4000 miles and rears 2-3000 miles. I switched to Schwalbes which are averaging 720 miles between punctures and both front and rear have over 5000 miles on them now.Its not all positive though. They are very heavy, I weighed them at 950g each whereas the Bontragers weigh 550g. Also, the grip is not so good. I have to turn off the road on a steep hill and there is a very convenient braking point marker on the road. On the Bontragers I could lift the back wheel under braking whereas on the Schwalbes I just don't have the confidence to brake that hard. That said, unless you really want to do stunts like lifting the back wheel under braking then the grip from the Schwalbes is perfectly adequate.Bottom line is if you want to avoid punctures, go for them.

These are by far the best tyres I've ever bought. I spent years wasting £50 or more on expensive Continental tyres to protect myself from punctures on my daily cycle commute, and they would normally last at best around a year and during that year I'd expect to get between 3 and 6 punctures anyway. Then I switched to these beauties. Half the price, but in more than 18 months cycling with two of them I have got one puncture, which only occurred when a huge rusty nail went through the edge of the tread (not bursting the inner tube somehow) and then I tore a hole in the inner tube while pulling the nail out of these tyres. They also take a lot of punishment - I've cycled on one for 18 months now and it's not even close to having worn down the tread and probably won't have to be replaced before 2018. If you're looking for robust, reliable, and almost puncture-proof tyres at a great price, then, my friend, your search is over. Buy these. You won't regret it.

I have used these tyres now for several years and once fitted you are almost completely puncture proof. The Smartguard protective layer actively repels sharp objects from penetrating the inner tube. I rode for 2 years, commuting to work every weekday without getting a puncture using these tyres and only had to replace it because it wore out. The tyre was peppered with glass and flint and gravel fragments, but nothing reached the inner tube. Although no tyre can be completely puncture proof, these are about as close as you'll get. They can be a bit difficult to fit because of the thickness of the protective layer and once fitted they do feel a bit strange to ride on at first. They almost feel as if the tyre and the wheel are separated (?) but you very soon adapt. I will always look to fit these tyres again when required.

Very good tyres. Only have done about 300 miles on them but no signs of cuts or damage. Before I have usedschwable lugano - I think they are very good tyres for the price they are offered. Just because now I have got more mixed cycling- roads, canals paths, and little bit offroad I have decide to go for schwable marathon plus. You will notice they are about twice heavier than the lugano and bit thicker - I find them more comfortable. I don't know why people having problems to fit them, it actually took me about 15 min to change over two wheels ( I recommend to use cable ties, and tie the tyre down to the rim which makes the work much much easier). You can use 700x23c inner tubes which are bit cheaper than 25c.Would I recommend - definatelly yes. Will update later...

These tyres were quite hard to get on but not as hard as I expected from what I had read. They go up to 115PSI and that is what I put them at, although a lot of people say about 60-80PSI is best. I would rate them 5 stars but I have only done say 200 miles on them up to now so I cannot comment on the supposedly 100% puncture resistance, but I believe it - which was the only reason I got these tyres, puncture resistance. A worthwhile investment if you really don't want to waste time fixing punctures. Where I live there is glass everywhere, it all depends where you live really. I will say these tyres only purpose really is to stop punctures, there are far lighter and better tyres at the same price if you want something light and grippy.

Schwalbe Marathon plus, the ultimate bullet proof tyre*Not for the average, or indeed excellent, road racer. These tyres are intended fo touring or everyday life. So highly resistant to punctures they have earned their place at the top of the table.Excellent designed tread pattern gives a grippy feel without being detrimental to rolling resistance. In all the 8 years that my machine has been shod in these I have only had 1 puncture. The good old British Bramble bush thorn, but that would have gone through any tyre. Can be slightly stiffer to fit, but you won't need to do that so often.Well worth the price and effort.*Unless someone's actually firing live rounds at you!

Thank you very much wifi cycle for this lovely tyre. I bought the tyre for less than £25 because I had it in my last bicycle too. These tyres are great punctureproof with a very good grip. The only problem is that you need good skills since the tyre is very hard to put on and remove it, but with some effort you will put it on.I received the order within 2 days since I ordered. I am really satisffied since this tyre is not available from Evans Cycles or Halfords only from Cycle Surgery who charges though £8 just to put it on.So I would definetely recommend this tyre and please try to put it on yourself it’s cheaper and you will feel better afterwards.

Upgrading from my usual marathons by putting a Plus on the rear. Looks like the usual great kit, so 5 stars for now. Will update as I get some mileage on it.Update 5 months and 3000 miles without a puncture. Then a flint cut through the outer tire. This was only noticed when I got home as it was stopped by the Blue stuff. 10/10 for getting me home. No other real signs of wear. Still plenty of grip left. Unfortunately there is no way I can ride on it due to the cut size but that is just chance. Is it any better than the standard Marathons? If so then not by much. Maybe Marathon Plus for Winter and standard Marathons for summer.

1 Year and 6000 miles, over glass, thorns and other debris.1 puncture on rear. Brilliant tyres. They are as easy to fit as any other bike tyre. The tyres are not slow, they roll along as good as any racing tyre and will only slow you down when you run out of energy. I can outpace most other bikes. Also available in 700 x 28 which are just as good.Durano plus are good tyres if you do want a lighter tyre, but they only lasted 1 month on the rear without a puncture and six months on the front.Don't be tempted by Dutch Perfect, I bought one of their puncture proof tyres, it lasted 2 days before puncturing on the same route.
