The 'loss' of the venerable XR from Schwalbe was akin to Conti dropping the Top Touring (later Top Touring 2000). However Schwalbe have provided a replacement with the 20 gram lighter Mondial. Fitting was straightforward - out of the box, allow to 'shape up', fit to rim on one side add an inner tube, then it's a bit tricky to get the Kevlar bead to seat first time - so tie it on, cable tie, toe strap, whatever you can find then squeeze the tyre on with your thumbs. Pump up and ride your rims to destruction, yeah really (unless you've got disc brakes, chances are these tyres will outlast most rims) Oh and I'd recommend greasing any valve retaining ring, why? Because by the time you need to change the tyre /inner tube you'll have clocked up thousands of miles in all weathers and a seized retaining ring is a pain. These are my go to touring tyres, but of late I'm also using them for winter commuting, swapping out the front for a Schwalbe snow stud in light/medium snow. Many people swear by the Marathon Plus's of the tyre world but weight for weight I'd rather spin up these kevlar beaded offerings - Long live the puncture free ride....

For our tour across America - 7500 km - with lots of luggage we had a tire searched. It was the Mondial and did not disappoint us: Super durability, hard-wearing, it runs well and I also felt secure on difficult terrain or wet road with the tire. I can not say of other high-quality tires! The conditions at this long stretch were really hard: In addition to the above load (lots of luggage), extreme heat and cold also came. The next big trip is on and there comes the Mondial again. I just had to put on another tire and I noticed immediately that I felt much more uncomfortable: less Gripp. Very clear recommendation for the Mondial. My favorite!

After several flats, I wanted to upgrade to puncture resistant tires. Researching touring tires, I rapidly concluded that these Mondial foldable tires are the best. When I installed them onto my Specialized AWOL, i noticed that they rolled much smoother over pavement with less tread noise. The largest drawback is that they are heavier, which makes accelerating from a standing stop more difficult. I've put about 500 miles on the tires, and the tread still looks great.Overall, I am extremely pleased with these tires. Someday when they wear out, I'll replace them with the same model.Highly recommended.

The tire is distinguished by its excellent durability and its balanced handling characteristics (good on the road, sufficient on bad dirt roads). I was also convinced by the security of the trench. I had with the predecessor model and the current tire in 17 years (annual driving about 6,000 km) no plates, in which the air immediately escaped (extremely rarely a Schleicher). One more word about durability: The tire does not run down practically. A change is only due when the tire has a few years on its hump and becomes brittle.

So far I made one bikepacking trip in Indonesia in rather bad road conditions. The tires performed superbly. I had no punctures, and I had no difficulties riding long offroad sections and completely broken asphalt. While obviously, this is not a race tire, I did't feel much drag, and I was able to do long distances with reasonable effort. Honestly, I don't feel the Mondials any slower than some of the gravel race tires, such as Specialized Trigger pro, etc. To sum it up, it is far the best touring tire I ever tried in my life.

Great tires ! I've never spent so much money on bicycle tires in my life .I too more then 900 miles to get a flat tire . ( small piece of radial tire ) .My trip of 4,000 miles was a good mix of , dirt Roads , gravel shoulders and los of pavement . Good , bad , and ugly roads !They rolled way better than I had expected , a very nice tire . I only wish they made them for the 29+ bikes .

Mounted on mountain bike 29 "in 2.0 for use road and paths.Good riding compared to mud tires, a little heavy but anti puncture, it goes together. It is difficult to mount in flexible rod, so I hope not to die because certainly difficult to go up on the edge of the path. For me the good compromise roll / grip for those who do not make the big crossing with protection against punctures.

These tires are great! I got them to replace the Schwalbe Citizen tires that came with my 2016 Marin Muirwoods 29er. The originals were okay, but these are much better! They roll better, grip better, and have better traction off the road. I haven't had a downside to them yet. They went on relatively easy. I didn't break a sweat, but you'll definitely need the plastic tire tools.

Bought a set for my GT Transeo 2.0 hybrid. Currently only replaced the rear since the original front tire still has some decent life to it.Been very tempted to swap anyway because the marthon rides smooth, quiet, fast, decent on light gravel, & decent overall grip. Will come back to these if still available. Excellent overall tires for hybrid versatility...

Simply and exceptional tire. Probably best tire I've ever had on a bike. Don't have that many miles on it yet, but read exhaustively prior to purchase and flats were far and few in-between. The grip and handling are great, and the extra size of the 42 noticeably softens the ride for a steel touring bike. The tread and look of the tire is really nice, as well.

I've tried quite a few premium touring tires and these are the best. They are stable and predictable on the pavement, hardpack, and gravel. The tires feel connected on wet surfaces. I have about 2k miles on them and haven't had any flats. You might feel the weight when you're going from a dead stop but the smooth ride and dependability are more than worth it.

It is a good thing, but compared to the Supreme, which I ride in the summer, is more sensitive to longitudinal grooves, therefore a star print. This may also be due to the fact that I am currently at full pressure 5bar and the contact area is accordingly narrow. I will therefore drive the tire next week for a trial with 4bar. 50iger tire at 105kg Complete.

This is a good touring tire and the most popular tire among world travelers. For us, these tires last about 10,000 kilometers before needing replaced. If you don't tolerate flats very well you should consider replacing these tires sooner or go with another version. We started getting flats about once per week after 5,000 kilometers.

Had these on for eight months, no punctures in that time. Great grip on a variety of surfaces, confidence inspiring on wet roads. These aren't great in deep mud, but they're not designed for that. Muddy river banks, and trails are no problem though. Handle well at all times, even with heavily loaded panniers. Wear rate seems good.

I did a lot of research before buying a pair of these and I have to say they live up to the hype so far. The tires roll fast on pavement and have enough traction for gravel or light trails. Time will tell if they last as long as other reviewers claim, but I really enjoy them so far and think they are well worth the money.
