Running skinnies on snow and ice is a dangerous thing to do out on the trails in a Canadian winter. I had slipped and fallen hard 3 times within 10 minutes on the same trail on normal summer treads. My knees were all swollen and bruised for a couple of weeks. After getting these Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pro Evo tires for my bike, I feel so much better. The tire version I got are the EVO foldable tires, not the wire bead ones. So, they're lighter as well. These tires are fairly tough as I rode through wildrose bushes and other native shrubs by accident when I was bushwacking trying to find a singletrack after getting lost with snow covered trails. The grip on ice with these tires are good. You still slip on the steep incline if you don't have enough speed to go up and you're torquing the crank with the lowest gear to try and grind your way up. However, on the descends and on berms, these tires will grip like you're on dirt. Definitely recommend studded tires. The fact that my set is 2.35" specification makes it even better than having them too skinny. Now, why don't the manufacturers make 26x2.5 and 26x2.4? The only knock against the tires is that you have to break them in by running the studded tires on asphalt for at least 40km to set the studs in properly or else risk losing the studs while riding on the trails. I adhered to that and after another 70km of hard riding on singletracks with variable dirt, snow, ice and rocks, I haven't lost any studs yet on either tires.

I absolutely love these tires. I got them for my winter commute and I feel so much safer on the road! The studs are great on ice, packed snow and slush, although I do find it a bit dicey on powdery dry snow so keep it slow in those conditions. Yes they are expensive, but good tires + a good helmet is a heck of a lot less than a cheap casket. Some blogs will say you can get away with just having them on the front tire, but if you do that, make sure you are used to braking primarily with the front brakes, otherwise the back end will be sliding while the front end keeps rolling. I have them on both, it's worth the investment, especially if you'll be riding in traffic.Check the model number - the HS 379s have a nice spiked stud, while older models may have a flatter stud that don't grip quite as well (still good, but I think the spiked stud is the best).I haven't taken them out on trails yet, but I've seen positive reviews for them for trail riding.

The best tire for winter cycling in the North. This winter started with a lot of ice and slippery, so I'm happy with my choice. Works great in the woods, too. Unaccustomed to the high noise level on asphalt, I turn around and still think it's a car behind, but the sound I hear coming from the rear tire. But then it gets a little snow so silent that. Ran into my deck 4 mil on asphalt and has not suffered any double release so far, but I've only taken four rounds on the trail yet, so maybe it will ... However, had wanted it a little wider than 2.25 for better flotation on snow, but it is still a good compromise when the tires only weighs just over 800g.

Have the tire now extensively tested, snow and ice it has been enough this year. In front. He is loudly loud. It sounds like you're on popcorn. And as soon as you drive on hard ground. In the snow and mud I could not find any advantages over conventional good tunnel tires. But as soon as you ride on icy ground the tire plays out its strengths. Frozen fairways, puddles go through unimpressed. Ma has always grip, whether uphill or down, even a front wheelie is in it. My recommendation for the hard winter, despite the enormous noise.

If you want to ride confidently on snow and ice these tires are a great compliment to any mountain bike. I commute to work 3 days per week on these many times on compact snow and ice. The other day I saw a Subbie go off the road slipping on the sheet ice as I came confidently to a stop.Dry traction is definitely lower than regular road tires but they do very well on all loose surfaces and mud. These are very aggressive tread and they are noisy. Rolling resistance is higher than regular road tires too.

The tires have still paid off during the short winter break, even in the lowland. Even on changing ground, snow, ice, asphalt and Schneematsch bit the tire and had immediately grip. On bare asphalt and cobblestone pavement Is the sound development thanks to the spikes high.Located at the appropriate speed like an army jeep, also an advantage, so pedestrians and co listen to the something rolling. Even after about 200 km no spikes lost or major wear phenomena.

Used these tyres at Strathpuffer 2018 when it was deep in snow, -10 and icy as hell! These tryes climed up and down icy rock and snow all night long! The grip is phenomenal! I wouldnt use them, however, unless it was snowy and icy and i did loose about 20 spikes in total throghout the 24hr race. Well worth the money but only if you are going to use them in the conditions they were made for otherwise normal mud tyres like magic marys would do just fine

After having been without dice for five winters, it was dax again. Compared to my old Finnish tires with fewer studs and higher weights, these were lovely. Still heavy and sluggish but much nicer than before. After four or five rounds, all the studs are left and they roll surprisingly lightly to give such a super grip.

Excellent performance. Can ride on sheet ice. Maybe shouldn't be such a revelation but wasn't sure what to expect.Slight negative - I have used only twice and lost 1x insert already. If being used regularly this would be a bigger concern.Excellent service by the seller and item arrived within 5 days from Germany.

The tire is a nice aggressive knoby dirt bike like tire tibegin with that offers good slush and snow traction but the studs really grab at the ice. Great stopping power on ice but be worry if quick stops on asphalt you are likely to slide a bit. Great trade off though for bad weather traction.

The studded tire was mounted on an E-MTB. Several runs were carried out in powder snow (5 to 10 cm) and on ice. Excellent traction, good braking grip and excellent lane keeping. Loss of 2 studs on the rear tire

Gives very good traction on snow and ice, a great choice if you live in on the country side in northern Sweden. Would say overkill if you live in the city, they are very loud on tarmac / asphalt.

The best winter tires I've had so far. Very good on ice cream and ice cream. With 400 spikes, it becomes difficult to push a bicycle on a bare asphalt, which in turn gives a good training effect

Great tires! Unbelievable traction on glare ice. Reviewers (and Schwalbe) claim these are difficult to set up tubeless. I had no problem at all with Stans rims/sealer. No air loss over night.

Very satisfied. Sits like pasted on ice. Good on boats on snow too. Noise a bit on asphalt but it is to live with. The advantage is that pedestrians hear you when you are driving?
