This is an excellent bag. It is exactly as described on the website. I took it on 3 transatlantic journeys to test it out before writing this review. It is light weight, strong, good looking, well designed and multifunctional. First, it has a clean and streamlined look and the colour is distinctive enough for you to be able to pick it out quickly from the crowd of other bags at baggage pick up at arrivals. It is expandable whcih is a very useful feature. If you accumulate extra items on your trips, you can still fit them in to this suitcase. There are two rows of circular zips running around the outside of the bag, and one row is concealed inside the other. When you unzip the second row,an expanded section is released and this adds several more litres of space to the bag. There are two zipped pockets inside the bag, a large net envelope inside the lid, with retaining straps, and a small inside side pocket in the main compartment. The main compartment also has retaining straps. There are two very useful outside pockets on the bag, a long and a shorter pocket. The bag has a nice additional security feature, a slim steel cord which can pass through the dedicated holes in the zipper pulls to lock the two outside pockets. It hooks up wth the main combination lock on the bag. When not in use the cord is almost invisible and fits into a little compartment. The main compartment locks through the zippers. The lock is TSA approved. There is a side handle and a top handle. Both are well designed, secure and comfortable even when the bag is jammed full. The main extending handle is strong, light and has several length positions. It operates smoothly..I also bought the bag because the wheel design was what I was looking for. I wanted a two wheel upright bag with robust wheels instead of a spinner bag. I have had a wheel on another bag fail during a journey before and it is no fun. The wheels on this Samsonite are well made and are approxmately 7 to 8 cm in diameter and are partially concealed in a strong wheel housing. There are two strong angled rests on the bottom of the bag opposite the wheels, so it sits upright. If the bag is really jam packed, with all the front pockets and the expanding pocket stuffed full, it can fall over from the upright position. However, jam packed and stuffed people also fall over, but more easily than this bag.The bag has a water and stain resistant finish. Someone spilled a little coffee on the ouside of my bag. It sponged off easily and completely with a little water and mild suds, even after the spot had been left for 2 weeks. The bag was sold to me by Marken Koffer. The delivery was fast and arrived on time in secure packaging. Finally, avoid Brexit, do all you can to prevent it. It is bad news for travellers, business people, and international relations generally. Thanks for reading.

This is exactly the size & shape suitcase I've been searching for since my trusty 12 yr-old American Tourister bit the dust. The only issue as many others have said here is that, the case does arrive locked with zero instructions on what to do (hence why I've dropped a star). So, let me save you from having to consult You Tube like I did:1. Set the dial to the default code of 000. These numbers should be in the middle so that 999 and 111 are visible above and below, respectively.2. To actually unlock the case you need to press the large, square-shaped button with a key hole in it that can be found to the left of the dial. (Note that there is no key that comes for this keyhole - as another reviewer helpfully explained, this may be for airport security personnel to test the locking system or something. So the keyhole itself is redundant but this square shaped button is none the less the one you press to unlock). Once you press this both the wire and the zip locks should release themselves.3. To reset the code to another combination of your choice - you need to take a pen or something sharp, and press the tiny sliver button to the right of the dial inwards. Once this is definitely lodged inwards, arrange the dial to the numbers of your choosing then press the SQUARE button to the left again to set it.4. Now if you re-attach the wire and zippers to this lock, you should only be able to release them by selecting your new numbers and pressing the large square button. Only use the tiny silver button to the right again if you wish to modify your combination again.Et Voila!

When I purchased this I was fairly sceptical as to whether or not I could actually get this to pass as hand-luggage on air-lines. Well the good news is that you can! With the exception of KLM / Air France (at time of writing) I've found the majority of airlines will take this on as hand-luggage as it fits nicely within the limits. It is deceivingly large but that only works to your advantage!Spacious and can easily let you take a few weeks worth of clothes, or a small formal wardrobe for business-catered trips it's surprisingly flexible. Having the extra SmartTop pocket on top came in useful for smaller doodads (e.g. prescription sunglasses)that I otherwise wanted to have easy access to without having to dig through the more front-pocket or actually open the case up.Alongside the above, it's actually possible to expand the case beyond its initial limits to make it 'fat'. At this point it tends to remain within most flight-companies limits - but do be careful. Overstuffing it (as with most bags) can push it over the limit so as ever, be mindful of how you pack! The security-wire is an interesting touch and works well enough. It saves having to carry padlocks though I do question that if someone were to be carrying the appropriate tools, how long it would keep them out. Beyond that it works I suppose as a deterrence and keeps sticky-fingers out.For a Samsonite at the time of purchase it was a respectable price (£114) and the quality is as you would expect from Samsonite as well. As my travel companion for over 8 months now, I'm more than happy with purchase!

My case has just arrived with the security cord locking all compartments - code is set to 000 but I can't open the catches. There is a place for TSA unlocking but of course I am not TSA and can't access. There are no instructions on how to use the coded locking system on the outside of the case. I am going on holiday in a few days - looks like I will have to return as unusable unless someone can come to my assistance.Well - with the wonderful help of other reviewers on this site I was able to open the case by dialling in 000 and pressing the square button. So easy when you know how - and I don't consider myself an idiot! So the full review and change of star rating will follow after my forthcomingholiday.Having used this case as a carry-on during a 3 week touring holiday I can now give it 4* - It's been ideal and fitted into overhead lockers on both jumbo jet and small local planes. The compartments are ideal and I really like the elasticated straps which click into place holding the contents secure. Our lightweight raincoats were carried in the 'lid' the whole time and were easily accesses. I am afraid I deducted 1* as the security code was fitted upside down - a strange thing in my mind!

Arrived really quickly. Thanks amazon prime :) Really love this bag and can’t wait to use it tomorrow. The top access pocket is great. Can keep all my pens and other stuff in it. The two front pockets are excellent too. Both are deep and I can fit my iPad in either of them. Great for quick access at security. Plenty of room inside to pack for a couple of days. The combination tsa lock and the wired security cable is great. Was slightly daunted when I saw it was locked. All you need to do is make sure the combination is set to 000 and press the TSA button and it opens. The security cable tucks away neatly. To change the combination you just press the little silver button with a pen, change the combination to your choice then press the TSA button and it’s set. Simple! All in all I am happy with this and it seems that it’s worth spending extra on a decent bag. Time will tell as I fly all the time.

I'm a big fan of Samsonite and while I do appreciate they are very expensive, I have found that Samsonite bags stand up to the abuse luggage gets in airports when your beloved case is out of sight. This bag is huge and that's what I was looking for. Being a spinner (four wheels) means that it is very maneuverable despite it's size. I've noted that there have been reviews about the case not having keys to lock it. The reason is simple - there are no keys for the owner. The padlock is for us mere mortals and this can be set quite easily. The key hole is for those who inspect our luggage to ensure that nothing untoward is in the case. This lock is on Samsonite cases is seen as industry standard so that customs and border police can investigate any suspicious package and keep us all safe. It means cases can be inspected without any damage being caused.

Well worth the extra cost over the cheaper ones. Little things that make it worth the extra.I did originally purchase an Antler for 20% less - but the declared dimension and volume were wrong and it was too small - and whilst I really liked the case it was a bit too small. The Samsonite Spark is as good if not better in terms of build quality. I also like the built in security cable and the various pockets and compartments.I did a lot of journeys around Europe last year the Spark came out unscathed - even after being checked in on a couple of busy flights. I find the front pockets incredibly useful for easy storage of my liquids bag, my tablet, wooly hat and gloves etc.

I love this little case! It has external pockets just where I need them to be, there's a good security lock to keep all parts firmly closed, the colour is great, the wheels turn and roll beautifully, the handle sets at various useful heights and I think this is so strong it's going to last for years!I guess it's a little pricey but I have used Samsonite for longer than I care to think about and am really happy with this one too. In fact, this is actually my second one of these - I bought another one as a present for someone.Thoroughly recommended.

Feels sturdy, well made and I like the locking mechanism. It’s lightweight and the expanding section has proved very useful.I work as an airline pilot and use this when I’m away, it’s coped easily for 3-4 day trips. The expanding section should also allow me to add in a winter coat!My only gripe is the top pocket, designed to provide quick access to toiletries, doesn’t fit the standard clear plastic bag for liquids - it’s possible to force it in but instead I use one of the outside pockets, though it does protrude a little.

This is a great suitcase and definitely fits in the cabin baggage size frames for Ryanair, Easyjet and BA. However, it has one major defect (like so many suitcases today): inside it the contents are only held in position by elasticated straps, which can't be pulled any tighter for small amounts or in order to compress larger amounts. Very frustrating! I have solved the problem for myself by buying adjustable luggage straps (intended to secure or identify suitcases) and tightening these around my clothes etc.

13.6.2020

Seems like a great case, pretty lightweight, but the xl is absolutely massive, if you filled it up with clothes it would be 45kg+, I've returned it and ordered the large, I read the reviews about the lock, and there's no problem with the lock, code is 000 press the button! Also no problem at all with the expanding part, you can't even see the expanding zip until you look for it, it certainly would not get in your way.

Well made case and very practical. I have 3 of the previous Spark model available in 2017 and needed a fourth so purchased this 2018 variant, but I do not think it as good as the 2017 version. The shape, concealed main zip and top carry handle all appear to be changes made for the sake of it and lead to a poorer case overall - the 2017 version was just about perfect so why change? Regardless of this its still good.

16.11.2020

I have it for several years now i think and it is still in perfect shape. I did travel a lot with it despite the quiet 2020. Also doing many kilometers letting it roll around cities or on my way to airports (I don't like paying for Taxis !), definitely good quality ! I love the pockets, it helped me during last holidays also. The Pocket for toiletries is also very useful. I would buy it again if i needed.

Arrived as scheduled. Very light weight bag, look forward to using as cabin bag on holiday next month. Like having 2 front pockets, one for tickets etc. other for iPad and other bits for flight itself so I won’t have to open the main compartment. Have dropped a star as the ‘free’ toiletries bag was not supplied, although that probably should only be a half star reduction.

First I’d like to say Amazon have been amazing on replacing my first case. The replacement bag turned up next day. The first case had manufactured damage to the zip, which blocked the zipper from closing the bag. The question is Samsonite don’t have good quality control which should be checked out. The second bag is in good condition but do check them for imperfections
