Having travelled the world routinely on business, had multiple gold frequent flier cards simultaneously, and owned Tumi, Travelpro and other premium brands, I've finally settled on Samsonite as my luggage of choice. Why? Excellent quality that matches those other brands but at a reasonable price. I have a hard shell carry-on and a suit carrier bought in 1996 that refuse to die and still look good. But my last family-size softshells - bought in 2004 - finally gave up the ghost this year after sterling service on all holidays across a number of continents, so a replacement set was needed. So having bought three of these and taken them to NYC for a family holiday,I can report that Samsonite continue to be my luggage of choice. Here's why. Firstly, excellent construction. These have a tough polycarbonate base and back frame that, with the wire soft frame, provide a case you'd feel comfortable packing fragile items, albeit padded by clothes. We managed to bring back some really nice Chinese earthenware without probems. They also look cool, typically unostentatious Samsonite. The outer skin is hard-wearing yet good looking and the expansion facility is genuinely useful. This is finished with a slick TSA-compliant lock that makes each zipper pull do double duty as locking tabs. Neat.Secondly, they carry and travel with ease. The pull out aluminium tow bar is reassuringly rigid and positive in action; the wheels simply glide effortlessly whether vertical or tilted; even the side carry handle is well thought out, being highly comfortable, yet distributing the strain to the frame, rather than the side of the case. But finally, it does all this while being light - and I mean very very light. These are amongst the lightest in class. With air travel nowadays having almost everything as an optional extra, and the gradual erosion of luggage allowances, this was a huge boon for us, allowing us to pack two weeks of luggage yet still have both the space and weight allowance left over to get everything under our 23kg allowance upon return (with the usual carry-on canniness in packing). ;)What's not to like? Well, they're not "fashionable". Sure they look sleek and classy, but they don't stand out. Not important for me. And maybe you could say the style is a little anonymous. But frankly, after so many years of travel, I no longer care. So, another excellent product. I'll give it a perfect 5 stars after 5 years use.

This is a smart-looking cabin bag designed for budget airlines which operate strict limits on the size of cabin bags. I got the 55x35x20 variant and can confirm that it just fits the Flybe bag checker - you must take care not to stuff the bag so full that it bulges at all, since even a slight bulge would tip it over the limit. The bag is quite capacious and I can easily fit what is needed for a couple of nights away. The pull-out handle has been designed not to take up too much space inside the bag. The spinner wheels are effective and hopefully robust - they do take quite a hammering if, like me, you drag the case round city streets as well as airports. The case is very light but still seems pretty robust.Although not technically a hard case, the frame is not at all flexible, which is a good thing bearing in mind that you do not want the bag to lose its shape at all. This is a premium brand and the case is quite expensive but you do get a smart and well-designed bag for your money.

I bought this suitcase for a 3 week tour holiday involving long-haul flights, internal flight and coach transfers and a crowded bullet train journey. It survived unscathed and I was very pleased with my choice. For me, it offered the right blend of sufficient room, sturdiness and lightness (after initially considering a number of different suitcases in store, I realised there is a trade-off between lightness and strength). For a case this large, I found having 4 wheels made life much easier vs 2 wheels when wheeling the case in airports and up/down ramps. The true test will be how this suitcase wears after several trips (I've had my old, smaller 2 wheel Antler case for years, but it was too small and heavy for this trip), but it was ideal for this particular holiday.

No doubt the quality of this bag is excellent. I am very impressed and used it for a first trip and managed to fill it up to 20kgs. The dimensions, while accurate, can be a bit misleading as this Medium bag is a bit small. I would say its slightly bigger than a carry on bag. Not like a normal Medium suitcase you would buy from a shop. I checked and the one they call Large is like a medium size from a retail shop.Nevertheless, it had quite a bit of space and managed to fit in more than I thought it would. And with 20kgs of luggage, it never felt like it was overfull or could burst.Overall, I am happy with my purchase. Just wish I would have known exactly what size I am getting beforehand!

Well designed lightweight suitcase ideal for foreign travel. Robust build and stylish. Internal compartments well designed with straps for main compartment, a zipped compartment in the lid and another internal compartment for small items. There are also 2 external compartments that can be locked with a padlock. The main compartment has an integrated combination lock that is easy to set. The 4 wheels are very stable and enable the suitcase to be either pulled by the integrated handle or pushed along. I have used the case to travel abroad and am very impressed by the design and build quality. Not cheap but worth the money.

I am absolutely over the moon with my new SAMSONITE suitcase. Much better than I ever expected as quality is superb. Much lighter than my last Samsonite suitcases I bought many years ago that are still as new as the day I bought them. As I have got older it is essential to use the much lighter new type as I am not as strong as I used to be.I cannot believe how quickly this order was delivered and really so well packed.I will buy more of these soon and intends to contact this Company via AMAZON again. The price was exceptionally good too.So I am one happy bunny thanks to my Amazon bargain

I haven't used this L suitcase in anger yet, but it is much lighter than my previous old Antler case (which is smaller). However the measurements are at best dubious. The only way to achieve the 78cm is to include the wheels - hardly usable packing space. I made it 70x47x28 (92L), which is fine, but misleading.Similarly the case is 'expandable' but only by a couple of centimetres..As yet I've not found an explanation of how to reset the combination lock, but I guess I'll figure that out (since found the instructions behind the warranty).

Product was perfect for my holiday. The lock was very good and was not flimsy like some other brands. Samsonite Base Boost Spinner was a great choice and a brand I am able to trust. I will certainly be sticking to this brand in future. Since purchasing I have used this case for at least 3 holidays. It's light and very durable. Just wish the wheels had some kind of brake system to stop the case rolling away when on an incline/decline or when travelling on the train. All in all it is definitely still a good purchase. Thumbs up!

Smart looking good quality little cabin luggage. Ideal for a 2-3 day trips although I packed enough for 7 days because I travel really light and pack only tshirts even in winter. My only complaint would be the telescopic handle. It is nowhere near sturdy and it feels like it is going to come off anytime. I know that Samsonite is using lightweight materials so the bag itself is not very heavy and you can pack more, but still it could’ve been sturdier.

A high quality product. Lugged this around for a 5-week trip and the suitcase showed no faults. The wheels are high-quality and roll very smoothly. The suitcase is well-balanced when sat upright and is very easy to roll around if not overstuffed. The outer material seems to be pretty sturdy too. No signs tearing or ripping. The mesh of the inner top compartment has come slightly undone, but that's not a big problem and was probably my fault.

I opted out for the 2-wheel version rather than the 4-wheel version because it offers more space. The product is super light, only 2Kg, comes with an integrated lock and hangers for the straps that secure your belongings from moving (simple but rather uncommon). I have not used it yet which means that I cannot provide more feedback at the moment. Overall, I hope that it can stand the 8 years that my hand luggage from Aldi Sued lasted.

We have two of these, both in size L. They're really good suitcases, light and sturdy, easy to maneuver. Well worth the money. We've had several cheaper suitcases in the past. You can really tell the difference between a Samsonite and that suitcase you got from Argos. We bought our suitcases from Amazon Warehouse. Both looked brand new, with labels still attached. Saved £20 on each one.

Bought a similar case 20 years ago - still going strong - but needed a second, small suitcase. The difference in weight is fantastic and, as I'm now 20 years older, I'm finding it much easier to handle. It holds all the clothing needed for a few (4 nights) days away and, although I can't judge sturdiness yet, it seems as well made as the older one so I expect it will outlive me.

Perfect for my needs. Super light weight and easy to manoeuvre. Lock setting instructions a bit basic to follow. More by luck than following them I got it to work. Make sure you note all numbers you even accidentally set it to. Only used once so far on trip to US.So cannot comment on sturdiness. But so glad if that USTA accepted lick as they opened my case. No damage done.

The suitcase make a good use of the dimensions you are allowed on a plane. The wheels sit into the body and increase the volume of the case. Also it is soft so you can get a little extra in there. If anyone complained to me about the bulge I would take the clothes out and wear them, but so far no complaints.
