Twenty years ago, I remember my dad using a product which was very similar to these Rexel Crystalfiles, for storing invoices and other paperwork for his business. However, with the massive increase in the use of computers, I would have thought that the demand for products such as this must have massively reduced - certainly, my dad no longer uses filing cabinets and the majority of his records are now stored electronically. Having said that, whether there is or isn't demand for this product is somewhat irrelevant, given that this is a review of the Crystalfile itself and not of the market which it is aimed at.This particular product is a box of 25 Crystalfiles, with the dimensions of the usable part of the file being 32.5cm (width) by 27.0cm (height). Based on my recollection of these files, the particular dimensions of this product are reasonably standard and enable A4 sheets of paper to be stored in landscape format (but not portrait). However, I appreciate that there are many different dimensions of files and filing cabinets so you will need to check that the width of the files is not less than the width of your filing cabinet. The capacity of this particular product is also pretty decent and it is claimed that each file can store up to 500 pages. I suspect that this claim might be slightly optimistic, particularly if using paper which is 80g/sm or higher however, they will easily store 450 pages. It might sound like this volume of paper would be too heavy to be adequately supported by this file however, despite being made from cardboard, they are pretty robust and unless you are very rough with the files, they should last a reasonable length of time. In addition, they also have a reinforced cardboard bar on the bottom of the file, to help prevent the contents from falling out.Included with each product is a set of plastic tabs and paper inserts for clearly identifying the contents of each file. Unusually, the plastic tabs attach to the vertical side of the file, rather than the horizontal (top) side, making it slightly harder to scan your eye over each tab when skimming for the appropriate file. The final aspect which I would comment on is probably the one which has the most relevance for the majority of people and that is the price. The RRP of this product is stated as being £114.16, which works out at just under £5 per file. I appreciate that Amazon are currently selling the files at a significant discount but even so, I would still consider this to be an expensive (premium) product. Only you can decide if it is worth the cost!

I know most people keep everything digitally nowadays but I’m quite old fashioned and prefer paper bill, invoices etc and also any transactions I make online I print out copy as a result I have boxes and folders of papers and documents everywhere.I recently started a home business selling home crafted items so have a lot of patterns and note books of designs, resulting in yet more boxes and folders of papers.I recently acquired 2 old filing cabinets from a tip and am currently paint and decorate to fit into home. I was delighted then to be offered these to test. You receive 50 files packaged in branded box.The files are made of cardboard and you do have to do a little pulling out/folding to formeach file from been flat packed bit faffy but simple enough. They are securely fixed to bars/runners at top and made of stiff cardboard ‘they seem a lot better quality than cardboard files used as a junior in office 25yr ago, they used to tear quite regular’ they have plastic label holder at sides which was new to me but they are secure and it’s simple to place file name labels in and remove when needed. These files are really strong and hold a lot of papers I placed 97 sheets in ‘the contents of folder’ and you could hardly tell I believe they will easily hold 300 sheets without any pressure on file. One thing I found a little confusing was cut out at bottom of file? I couldn’t see point, surely this will cause edges of pages to become damaged? But it may be a new way a storing documents,it is 25yrs since worked in office.Overall I would recommend these files,I at first thought were expensive but when you look at quantity and quality and fact will keep everything together and easily accessible it’s actually quite reasonable.

I have been using my home as a home office since the lockdown and the amount of paperwork that I have accumulated is staggering. I recently purchased a filing cabinet to sort out the mess and these files were the perfect size for the cabinet so I decided to order them. This particular product is a box of 25 Crystalfiles, with the dimensions being 330mm (width) by 280mm (height). This is perfect for the A4 sized paper which is 99% of my paper work. The capacity of this particular product is really good and it is claimed that each file can store up to 300 pages but you have to be careful with the GSM value of the paper. I guess, you can expect to store anywhere between 250-300 pages depending on the GSM of the paper.I initially was a bit sceptical whether this cardboard files can hold the weight of 250-300 pages but they are pretty robust and I didnt see any issues with them in my few weeks with them till now.The files come with a set of plastic tabs and paper inserts for clearly identifying the contents of each file which is perfect for sorting and categorising the different files. This was most useful in sorting out the mess in my home office and indexing the paperwork correctly.Coming to the main issue with these files, i.e. the price (around £48 at the time of posting the review), which works out at over £2 per file. In terms of quality, I cant find much to fault with these and at this price and the larger capacity of these files, I think they are really good value to sort out all of your filing requirements. If you want the best quality files, I would definitely recommend this. 4 stars

Whether you use the lateral or vertical suspension file system is a matter of preference – and space (the lateral file cabinets for obvious reasons tend to be wide rather than deep as the files are hung side-by-side and not in front or behind other files). For lateral suspension files it means you can see all tabs/labels at once so it’s easy to get an overview and therefore it’s also important that those tabs are well placed and of good quality. Fortunately that is the case with these files. They are also made from the usual good quality carboard and metal runner combination that have made them the preferred brand for many companies.I do think that the price is excessive, but other than that I can’t fault them.Do make sure you check the mm size and type of the files, so you get what you need. V-base suspension files are compact files that can hold a maximum thickness of 15mm of documents per file. These files can be used in filing cabinets that use a suspension filing system and are great for short contracts or small brochures.Square base suspension files (like these) are designed to hold more documents per file and come in 30mm and 50mm (like these) capacity sizes. The bottom of these files is strong, so thicker and heavier documents can be filed securely.

I needed to replace some of my files with larger folders and these looked ideal. Unfortunately when the arrived, I realised they are much wider than the 330mm of the metal - you can see from my picture that they are a lot wider at either side, so do not fit the 330 standard rails. This is not just in length, but depth too.(However they are really good quality and I didn't want to see them go to waste- and I have a husband who likes a challenge so he set about making them fit my cabinet. By slicing excess card from both of the sides, and then folding the card over the metal, he managed to get them to fit.)If you have checked the size (including the depth as they are deeper than normal files)then these are really good quality. They come complete with large plastic tags (and inserts) which fit on the side of the folders. The card is excellent, thick and durable. The bottom of the folders is reinforced with a metal strip to make them stronger.Overall these are very good quality but I think they should be clearer on the sizing that they are NOT standard 330 files as stated, and they are expensive, which is reflected in the quality, but that's only a benefit if they fit your cabinets, so please check measurements carefully.

The great thing about these files is the sheer capacity they can manage to handle because of the wide base. They obviously come flat but it builds out. They are very strong files. The runners are very strong and made from powder coated metal. If you bend them, they just bend not snap. And you can bend them back into shape. The runner is under the flap and is glued down into shape. They are made from manilla card and it is quite thick. They are susceptible to tears after a while though. They come with the tabs which slot on the side rather than the top, so make sure your filing cabinet can accommodate this type. The tabs themselves are high quality. They are solid and have no bits on that could snap off easily. The window is clear. It also comes with the card inserts which are perforated to aid easy seperation. They individually are a rather thin height, so one would need to take advantage of the Rexel software (supplied free on their website) to use a printing template. The card tab hangs out at the top to aid easy removal for alterations or removal.I think for the price of these they are a great investment for any suitable filing system and can really recommend them.

A fairly good value pack of 25 orange Crystalfile polypropylene lateral suspension files from Rexel which measure 330 x 280mm in terms of actual file size and have a 50 mm square base with a reasonably large capacity which can see them comfortably hold up to 500 sheets of 80 gsm paper in each file without any problems of overfill or worrying they might fall off the runners. They're very sturdy and fit incredibly well but you need to ensure they are the right size for your cabinet as the rails running along the top of the file are designed to fit cabinets with a 330mm gap between the runners. These aren't cheap but they are a great way to update your old filing cabinets with an incredibly good quality suspension file which is durable and long lasting and very modern and fresh looking. These are made from 100 percent recycled premium quality manilla but the emphasis is on the premium quality as they really feel very strong and sturdy, so shouldn't suffer from as much wear & tear, breaking and collapsing off the rails like the cheaper/older style standard manilla ones. These will keep your cabinets looking good and well organised for a professional and tidy office feel.

...is something that can - as stated - be relied upon.Well made and a superior quality to some of the previous files I have used these will easily take the much larger files I amass during my research projects and/or magazine articles etc.Once I opened the box I could actually both feel and see the quality of these lateral suspension files and was able to replace a number of my older files that were falling apart due to their poor quality card and lack of extra support at the 'fold base'. the base fold is roughly 5cms and claims to hold 500 sheets [of 80GSM paper] although I have not tested that claim and I imagine it would indeed depend upon the GSM of the paper used [500 sheets = 1ream].Environmentally sound the files are made of 100 percent recyclable premium quality manilla.I was supplied with this item free of charge to use and to write an unbiased review which I believe I have and I recommend them.

These were listed as 330 A4 sized files but on arrival were Foolscap 330. I should have paid more attention to the 330 measurement but just saw the A4 and thought they could replace my worn old Staples A4 files (see photo that shows size difference). These don't fit my files. I have given them a 4 star review as they do appear to be robust well made files and can hold a serious amount of paper. They are made of strong cardboard with a black card runner along the bottom of the file to reinforce it ti take the weight of hefty volumes of paper (see photo). They feel much heavier than my current files. They have a cut out at the bottom right corner which exposes the paper. Why?I really dislike this feature - I'm not sure what purpose it serves but it can lead to a bent paper edges especially when the file isn't full. They would make excellent archive filing for a large office.

Since lockdown our dining room has turned into a makeshift office so we needed a product to store papers away securely. This product contains 25 files. The files are certainly big enough to store away A4 documents in landscape, which was exactly what we needed. The product claims to be able to store 300 pages and whilst I haven’t tested that theory I cannot see why it wouldn’t be able to as it is a very sturdy product despite the cardboard material. Within the box you also get some paper inserts and the all important plastic tabs which makes filing a lot easier. The price is high I feel for this product however ideally you only want to buy it once so rather than spend a cheap amount of money and having to replace the files (and maybe lose some all important work documents)I feel the product is value for money as it is perfect for what you need.

I like to keep everything personal in files and when i was asked to review i was so excited. this Chrystal files are excellent if you want bigger files and storage space. I remember having these years a go and lasted a long time before they went tatty with age. One thing to remember, ensure your cabinet is big enough to hold the files, please check the measurements, or take a sleeve to a shop to try before you buy. These are great for any members of the household, i like to file away household bills and private information in a filing cabinet with a key.The files are sturdy, a bit finicky to establish, once done, you are all set up. The packaging was very good as well. I am very happy, and cannot wait to use them for many years to come. Thank you
