i bought these for the purpose of back country ski touring in new zealand. i needed something light weight and compact having ,hauled substantial steel crampons around in my day pack these are a god send. exceptionally light very quick and easy to clip on and get off and ideal for a day pack or overnight trip. i would not use them on some of the rough terrain i use steel crampons on but accept these are designed for a specific purpose. they provide solid and substantial grip on hard pack snow and ice and give me the confidence to move across the tricky bits that alpine skins wont touch.

Purchased to reduce the drastic weight of the backpack during ski touring. Now I never have to doubt whether or not to take crampons. Fantastic light, very easy to use. Adjust the rope as tightly as possible, even if it is a bit of a mess to fix it. Otherwise there is a high risk that the iron will dissolve when used. Once well set up, able to climb confidently. Not recommended for real mountaineering due to less durable material.

I made the error of believing these would fit my ordinary Meindl hiking boots. It immediately became evident that I had mis-selected so I returned them and the seller replaced them with correct FL version without quibble. Very good.
