Great reel. Cast really well. Manual bail arm takes a little bit of gettin use to but small price to pay for better distance casts. Would give it 5stars but this reel does not come with a spare spool. I cannot find a spool particularly for this reel but local tackle shop state Penn Surfblaster (1) reel fits. Bought one and it does fit-not tried it in anger yet with one of these spool but will report back when I do.

Excellent reel! I’ve used it extensively over the past few weeks with 40 pound braid and only have praise for this real. The only issue I have is that after casting the bail arm does not clip back automatically. Is this standard for this model?

My first spinning reel, I reviewed this expensively before buying, it does feel very sturdy and spins delightfully. Great that you can use it left or right handed. It is a big one because it takes a lot of line

Bought the penn surfblaster ll 8000 fixed spool reel for my husband and he is really happy with it said it’s the best reel he’s ever used. for him to say that then it’s got to be a really good one

WHAT AN EXCELLENT PIECE OF KIT. WELL WORTH THE MONEY. PRODUCT WAS FLAWLESS ON DELIVERY. I RAN THIS REEL PROPER HARD OVER THE LATER SUMMER MONTHS AND NO CHANGE IN PERFORMANCE WHAT SO EVER.

After two months I can say: Simply excellent, quality and price. I prefer the 7000. I like to hold my rod and the 7000 is lighter and balances well with my rod.

Reel is perfect handles the rough coast great arrived a few days late but was due to the time of year

I tend to favour PENN reels anyway but this reel is a great sturdy reel casts well and looks good

Perfect very very fast retrieve and helps brilliantly with long distance casting with a 15ft rod

Fantastic reel, I also have a battle 2 long cast. This is just as good for a lot less money...

Used the 7000 for 2 years, the 8000 gives more distance with a bit heavier line if needed.
