This specific type of reel is a first for me. I have not used it yet on the water so I can't speak to its performance. Like much of Penn's lineup, this reel looks like you get good quality for a reasonable price. I wanted to try slow pitch jigging without a huge investment. This reel is a bit heavier than I wanted, but there is little else out there as an alternative in a price range I could justify. This reel holds way more line than I ever need where I intend to use it so I used a large amount of mono backing before winging on braid. Hope to find out how it performs on the water sometime this year.

Very very nice reel, especially for the money. Higher drag than most, lightweight, spool is super smooth, and good looking.. lever drag system functions exceptionally. I can push this into multiple roles. I use it for charter boats, jetty, shore. Dont be turned off because you want to cast, it'll handle pretty much anything your skill level can dish out.

Surprisingly smooth reeling for a LD at this price point. I am entirely happy with this product.
