I obtained this item for our 15 year old son who was attending a party at his friend's house. Why young men want to soak one another remains a mystery, but he felt that it would be good fun to surprise a few people with it. I was fortunate to see it operate before he took it to the party and can confirm that it projects a stream of water around 8 metres, but try as he might, 10 metres was not possible. Whilst it does not look that powerful, he demonstrated to me on a cold day that it can dispense 16 ozs of water over an ageing adult without difficulty and surprisingly quickly.Filling up the gun was simple and although I did not feel it looked that robust. It pressurised relatively easily and the stream of water is sufficient to satisfy a number of pranks. He returned from the teenage party with the gun intact having allowed a number of people to indulge in a ritual soaking, suggesting that it is more robust than it looks. So why 4 stars? It may be me, but although he returned from the party with the blaster intact, I got the feeling that it wouldn't take long to break it, particularly when younger children get excited and the pumping mechanism gets repeatedly used. I may be wrong............

I've had various Nerf water pistols. My sons previous favorite was the Super Soaker Thunderstorm. The main issue with these were the battery mechanisms failing. I managed to fix them when I had time. However, just the time taken to open up the gun and fix the parts was just to cumbersome. I believe Nerf then switched to pump action, like the Nerf Switch Shot.I actually prefer the pump action as the mechanism is less likely to fail when compared to the battery mechanisms. I guess it is a choice, some like the battery guns as it means keeping the trigger pressed and running around drenching everyone in sight. The Squall Surge is pretty good as it feels futuristic as it isn't your typical gun.It seems more in-line to what you see in video games. My son likes it and it does squirt around 9-10 meters, depending on how much you pump it as it is based on pressure. Overall, a nice gun and I personally prefer the pump action water guns. I would have preferred a larger capacity. But, I guess this is ideal for younger children. For larger children they could get the bigger water guns, that hold more capacity.Overall, great for 6-8 year old children.

You know you have been doing things right when your brand names becomes synonymous with the item you make. Super Soaker has become the byword for water pistols, much like Hoover. When the product is this good, it is easy to see why.The NERF Super Soaker Squall Surge Water Blaster is perfectly sized as a pistol or for smaller hands, is robustly constructed, and can shoot a jet of water for well over twenty feet. The water opening is easy enough for children to open and the pump is designed to get you up to the required pressure with ease. My advice is that when filling it up, make sure there is some air left in the water chamber, as this will increase the pressure, and therefore distance, that can be achieved.Water pistols often end up being left lying around in the garden, but this will easily withstand the usual exposure over a summer, and for the price, is a sturdy, cost effective alternative to cheaper substitutes.

The Super Soaker Squall Surge is a good addition to the Nerf water gun range and reasonably priced. It's extremely easy to use and simple to fill up as well, both of which are essential in a frantic summer water pistol fight. The pump works well and the pressure isn't bad. It's not the strongest I've ever seen, you get a decent stream of water from the gun but it isn't terribly strong, which probably isn't a bad thing. The quoted range of 10 metres is optimistic, even with a lot of pump use I have struggled to get that kind of distance but it does comfortably make it to around the 8-9 metre mark. The water tank empties quickly, so regular refills are a draw back. The Squall Surge looks pretty good (in a generic Nerf kind of way)and it performs well enough that it's definitely worth a look for your next purchase in your water gun arsenal.

a solid gun and though it can take a while to pump the gun up the get the optimum pressure once you reach it the torrent it unleashes is very much worth it from both long and short ranges. Though the gun has a weird look that may slightly put you off it fits the hand well and allows large amount of space to hold water. Furthermore this gun can be used with out pumping it up loads as you can shoot as you pump which is very useful if you don't have the time to pump the gun up.

The NERF Squall Surge offers greater speed and accuracy, at the expense of losing some range. Continuous firing I can't see being much use in a water fight, but I know that some young adults have other alternative uses for such weaponry. What lets the Squall Surge down, is its apearance. It looks like a broken part off something else. I just can't warm to it, no matter what its advantages are.

I bought this as a cat deterrent to stop them using our garden as a public toilet area. It fires a single stream about 20 to 25 feet and requires a second bit of pumping to get the same distance again. It has worked well and hasn't leaked yet so I am pleased and would recommend it. The cats have been a bit too fast for me so far but one day............. :)

I have two main criteria by which I judge a water pistol. Does it fire enough water fast enough to get the target wet, and is it easy & quick to fill. This scores on both counts. Great for family water fights as the weather begins to improve, and provides Dad with a definite competitive advantage over the little people - what's not to like about that!

My son bought this and converted it into a Nerf dart firing gun by cutting a space to fit a barrel (a metal tube from a plumbers/hardware store). You just give it 40 or more pumps and it fires the dart very quickly indeed! Not sure Nerf would approve but it has a safety valve so you can't over pump it up.

Easy to pump, and can be shot after with just one hand. With a dog having just come out of surgery we need keep his excitement levels way down so that means no cats or foxes... this delivers a lovely jet of water far enough out of his range of sight. No problems so far.

Water guns seem to have become a lot more complex in the last twenty or thirty years! This is a reasonably high capacity water gun with a pump, so you can shoot water over several meters. It's good fun, assuming we ever get some summer...

The boys have had great fun with this. It's compact - just right for the seven and ten year old, and they find it easy to fill and fast to fire. A good buy for summer water fight fun

Lightweight and easy for my 7yr old son to maneuver and blast. Water shoots out quite a distance and very accurately! Lots of fun on a hot day in the garden.

Squirrels none to happy, but the birds and I are!A few pumps gives a very long blast of water, about 10 feet acurately, more than 15 feet in total.

Got this to stop cats using my flower beds as a litter tray and it works like a charm. Good range and keeps the pressure for a nice amount of time.
