Couldn't be happier with these bottles. I've now bought two of them (one for me and one for the missus) and they're fab!It sounds a bit daft to enthuse so much about a plastic bottle but basically:- Fit in normal cup holders- Don't leak- Fit slim bottle pockets on rucksack- Easy to open one handed*I've got whole cupboard full of water bottles and I'm continually surprised how many of them will leak, despite saying they're leakproof. I'd been carrying a Camelbak Bottle for some time, only to find its contents all over the inside of my rucksack. This, despite Camelbak saying their bottle was leakproof and the lid being screwed tight on. This lead me to try other options and since my old widemouth Nalgene had proven flawless (but giant)I figured these were worth a look.I was initially dubious of the OTF's press down lid, as conventional wisdom seemed to be that a screw down lid was needed for leakproof / waterproof lid. Since the Camelbak had that and had proved me wrong I decided to give this a whirl after numerous recommendations. Fortunately both OTF bottles have proven leakproof over the course of the past six months.A big win for these is that they're only about as wide as a 330ml coke can, therefore they fit in all the cup holders I've tried. Likewise, they slip easily into most backpack bottle pockets without an issue. Obviously this also means if you've got small hands they're easy to hold, unlike the Widemouth 1L Nalgene. The lid too is well executed. It has a steel wire bail which acts as a safety catch to prevent accidental openings and assure that the bottle is 100% leakproof. I generally use this when carrying the bottle inside my bag or if the bottle is in a side pocket and the bag will be layed on its side at any point. In this setup (bail open) the lid will pop a little open with a quick press of a button. The spout is easy to drink from and avoids the slashes of a widemouthed Nalgene. Closing the lid does require a decent amount of pressure, that is easy with practise and trivial with a flat surface to hand (leg, table etc). It's a lot less faff than screwing on a lid, that's for sure! I mention the above in such detail as the bail can be a little trickier. It's a real knack to remove that one handed, but is easy enough with two. Usually I only find this necessary when thrown inside a bag or as described above, therefore it's not a problemIt should be mentioned that the lid can screw off and fits the standard 1L Widemouth Nalgene bottle nicely, so I'd assume any devices (such as filters) designed for these bottles will also work with the OTF bottle. All in all I'm very happy with the bottle. As it's so easy to open and close It has become my 'desk sippy cup' and has saved me a number of spillages when I've knocked the bottle over.

The best way to show you what this bottle is like and its features is via a video, so I have made a video review. If you do not enlarge the video to full screen, it sometimes plays with sound but no video (a blank, black screen) - this seems to be an Amazon glitch. To cure it, press the 'full screen' icon. If you are reading this on a mobile phone, you may be unable to view the video - you will be able to watch it on a computer or tablet. This bottle has 2 closing mechanisms - a push button and a backup metal clip. I once put my bottle in my bag, full, upside down by mistake, using the clip closing mechanism only, and only realised 5 hours later when I went to use it. It did not leak.I've owned it for three years now, used it virtually every day, and not once has it leaked. It also has no plastic taste. Until now I have avoided plastic bottles because I believed that all plastic bottles make the contents taste of plastic. One advantage of the narrow-neck OTF over a wide neck Nalgene bottle - I once knocked the OTF over. I was surprised how little of the contents I spilt - it simply can't pour out very quickly because the neck isn't very large (approximately 2.5 cm in diameter).Critically, the plastic is BPA-free. BPA is often present in polycarbonates (which this type of bottle is made from). BPA (bisphenol A) is found in many plastics and may be linked to cancer. BPA is an unstable compound and can leach into food products. Once in food, BPA can move quickly into people - a particular concern for women of childbearing age and young children. So, it pays to buy BPA-free plastics for plastics used with food.Incidentally, I wouldn't use the OTF for hillwalking as they are not unbreakable. If you drop it accidentally and it breaks, you've got a major problem. Personally I use an aluminium bottle for hillwalking. But for everyday drinking I use the OTF as it is so much better designed than an aluminium bottle. My only gripe - the base is slightly too broad to fit in my car cup holder. In case you want to know if it'll fit in yours (and being far too anal here for my own good), I've just measured it - it is approximately 7.2 cm in diameter.I really like this bottle.

It's not recommended, apparently, because of the type of plastic used for the bottle. Supermarket bottles are, apparently, not intended for anything more than one use. I have no idea if the health scares are true - I just believe that an expensive bottle is more likely to be safer than a 50p one.Incidentally, I wouldn't use the OTF for hillwalking as they are not unbreakable. I live an on-the-go kind of life. I'm always running from point A to point B with a big tote or a backpack full of things that cannot get water damage. I've used dozens of water bottles over the years and there's always been a problem: one is too big so it doesn't fit in my purse or water bottle pocket on my backpack, another leaks like nobody's business, another has a straw that just won't stay attached so you're sipping air most of the time, and others just don't lock up nice and tight. One day, I was talking with my sister over lunch and I had noticed she pulled this water bottle from the dark recesses of her tote and nothing in her purse was wet. I was impressed. She had gotten this water bottle when she bought a 4 years ago and had used this water bottle exclusively since. She took it with her abroad and takes it to college classes everyday with no problems. After I hear her rave reviews, I decided to buy one.I've been using this water bottle for a few months now and I honestly am in love. The slim design makes it unique compared to the typical Nalgene but it still feels very sturdy. Not quite a liter of water but it's more than the typically grocery story water bottle. The loop on the top makes it easy to grab on the go and even hook, via carabiner, to a strap or your bag. My favorite feature is the locking mouth piece. In order to drink water, you have to flip the metal lock down and push the button to pop the lid off. I've read some reviews saying that this is too much effort but honestly, I love it. I know that the water bottle won't leak and it hasn't. I work in a school and I carry this around all day. Sometimes my students accidentally kick it across the floor and no water ever leaks. I also drop this bag into my gym bag and nothing gets damp ever. The small mouth piece also makes it great to grab a quick gulp of water while you're in the middle of a run. No twisting off lids: just flip the lock down, press the button and delicious H2O is delivered to your mouth with no spills.Bottom line: buy this water bottle. I love it and I think you will too.

Best general use water bottle on the market. I've tried a wide variety of water bottles from Nalgene and many other companies. While many are good, this Nalgene On The Fly bottle was the first time I immediately bought extras in different colors. The biggest aspect for me in a water bottle is how easy it is to actually get the water out of the bottle and into my mouth. Some bottles you have to squeeze a bit, some make you hold them completely vertical, some spill out no matter what you do, many have oddly sized and shaped mouths. However, the On The Fly was absolutely perfect. The mouth is a completely open, no odd contraptions between the water and your mouth, and its a great size.Drinks like a cup.The cap is attached which makes it impossible to lose, and when it flips up does not get in the way at all. It may come down a bit and touch your forehead and drinking slightly, but not at all in a way that is bothersome.Actually opening the cap can be a bit finicky sometimes. It requires a fair amount of pressure in a very particular area. Once you get used to it, everything works fine. You can very easily use this bottle completely one handed. From picking it up, opening the cap, drinking, and closing it again. Closing it one handed also requires a bit of learning as the locking mechanism requires a bit of pressure to "click" back closed. As with most bottles and companies, the world has mastered making bottles that don't spill. I can fill this up, close the cap, and am very confident that not a drop will spill out.The bottle itself is made of pretty standard water bottle material, but is sized and weighted perfectly to hold in your hand for extended periods of time. It's comfortable gripping while drinking and just walking or even running.Overall, if I was buying a general use water bottle, this is the one I'm getting. I have 3 right now that I use in different locations and may pick up more soon.

Nalgene = BEST water bottle !!!Prior, I was carrying a Camelbak, but got tired of fighting with the bite valve for a drink of water while hiking (especially uphill). I really dislike stopping activity to get a drink.Nalgene's drink- spout is optimally designed- compatible with human anatomy- & promotes ease of fluid intake while on the move. Cap/closure mechanism is secure & water-tight; Flips back & soft-snaps ALL the way back, out of the way- No unexpected surprise bump in the face, while drinking. EZ refill water/liquid directly through drink spout (no need to unscrew lid); Or, simply unscrew cap for wide-mouth opening to add ice, fruit slices, etc.I've used my Nalgene OTF with hot coffee au lait (soymilk); hot & cold green tea, bubbly seltzer, hot soups, ice-filled drinks, & plain water. To clean, I simply rinse bottle & cap. I never need to dishwash nor even hand wash it- just rinse. It's become my constant water companion. I keep a 2nd on standby.Nalgene .6 Litre, On the Fly (OTF) is the ONLY water bottle with an oversized thumb-carry loop! It's actually rubberized on the inside of the loop, which makes it incredibly comfortable to hand-carry. This level of attention to detail is both luxurious, & unmatched among ALL competing water bottles. Listening to my iPod, I swing my hand & arms, & move my water bottle around among fingers, across hands, etc. (Can-do.) Plus, during hot weather, my fingers swell. Many other water bottles' much smaller thumb-carry loops restrict movement- Some even restrict blood flow :( I hook 2-3 fingers in this oversized carry loop, or carry bottle on a single pinky. (Can also be caribiner-hooked).This is an extremely well-designed, pleasure to drink from, affordable, sturdy, durable, attractive, & easy to clean water-bottle! It's been my constant companion since I received it. My only regret is not discovering Nalgene a long time ago! Absolute perfection. 10/10.

This is my first Nalgene bottle. I had a couple requirements before making my purchase; BPA free, simple locking mechanism, and dishwasher proof. This ticks all three and more.First thing I noticed about the bottle was the clarity of the plastic used for the container. It looks similar to glass and has a premium feel to it. The plastic is very glossy and hydrophobic giving my confidence in it's ability to be cleaned thoroughly to avoid that nasty old water bottle taste (you know what I mean). The container is slightly tapered inwards towards the top which gives it strength and further stability. I haven't checked but I suspect the bottle won't fit in a standard car cup holder. The lid has no gasket for the main thread seal, instead using the slightly softer polymer to create a water tight seal against the container lip. This is fairly common now with drinks bottles and actually reduces that amount of surfaces that needs cleaning. There is, however, a gasket in the cap of the lid that will need cleaning. I am unsure yet whether it is removable or needs to by cleaned in place. The cap doubles as a finger loop to hold the bottle if you're so inclined to do so that way. There is a dual locking mechanism, one via a steel locking bail and one via a push clip housed on the lid. The one negative of the main locking mechanism is that there isn't any reassuring 'click' when you pressed the cap closed. I find myself double checking in between drinks (I don't use the locking bail every time I take a drink).Overall I am very happy with the quality of the bottle and the price I paid. I'd certainly recommend it to others.Pretty disappointed with Amazons layout for choosing a bottle. I bought this via the app so the starting price Amazon advertised was difficult to find and in the end I gave up, choosing instead the blue lid/clear container bottle.

I am something of a water bottle afficionado, and when I say that this is the best water bottle I have had yet then you know I mean it. The form factor is sleek and refined, with an elegant and dare I say sexy lid. If this bottle were a woman it would turn heads at every opportunity. I have received 2 compliments on this water bottle since I purchased it last week, which is 2 more than any other water bottle I have ever owned. I now look at my clunky aluminium SIGG with nothing but disgust, my Nalgene Wide Mouth (my previous daily drinker) sits in a corner collecting dust and my exceedingly expensive Punc remains a relic of the past. The OTF® is simply superior in every aspect, from the attractively angled spout to the ingenious anterior indentation which makes issues with grip simply non-existent (SIGG take note). Now I know exactly what you're thinking: "But what about the Klean Kanteen? Isn't this Nalgene OTF® bottle simply a replica of the 2002 Klean Kanteen Classic®, without the added benefit of being stainless steel?" That is a very interesting question, and while one might debate the design features which lead many to foolishly claim that the OTF® is a blatant reproduction of the innovative 2002 Klean Kanteen Classic® (a claim which has already been refuted for many given Nalgene's previous iteration of this product line, the On The Go®) this is neither the time nor place for such a discussion. What is necessary to address is the fact that the Eastman Tritan® copolyester in this bottle is far superior to stainless steel in any form in my opinion based on my extensive testing where I compared compressive strength and the weight-to-volume ratio (just to name a few). In summary this is a top tier water bottle which I would recommend to my own mother without a second thought, and receives a well deserved five stars.

I bought this bottle for my morning green drink that I usually drink it on the way to work. I was hesitant to buy this bottle since I have 2 Nalgene bottles (wide mouth and multi drink) already. However, the multi drink cap was getting really gross because it's very hard to completely clean the pulp out of the cap. The wide mouth one is not a good choice for using in the moving car either (already splashed myself with my green drink). With all of those reasons, I decided to purchase this on the fly bottle and I have to say hat I'm really sastified with my decision.Comparing to multi drink, the spilling risk for both are the same since it's a narrow mouth but the ease of opening the cap is totally have to give it to on the fly.I only need one hand to open it so it's very easy to have a drink in one hand and a food in another. The cap is actually have some places that are difficult to reach but I work around by washing it with a hot tap water and it works quite well. The bottle is also too long for my reach but the hot water trick works just fine.On the fly has a taller and slimmer shape than the wide mouth or multi drink and also lighter ( in my opinion) but it hangs on inside my car's cup holder just fine.Overall, I'm highly satisfied with this purchase. It's exactly what I need. I always trust Nalgene for the quality product and good customer service and it has not disappointed me.Note: the lifetime replacement is a real deal I requested the replacement for my wide mouth cap and they sent me 2 brand new caps with in 2 weeks for free, you don't have to send the broken part back, just go on their website and fill out the replacement form which will require a picture of your broken part and you're all set.

This is by far my favorite water bottle. I've had a version of this bottle since 2011. I love that it doesn't spill in my bag, I can easily take a swig when I'm running, and it doesn't have a straw that builds mold. The one thing I've realized about this bottle is when filled with ice cold water and when the pressure changes (on an airplane, for example), the silicone piece that sits inside the lid and prevents leakage gets sucked into the bottle when attempting to open. To prevent this from happening: 1) read the situation (in other words, remember that you're flying or that you filled the bottle with icy-cold water), 2) do not pop-open the lid as usual, 3) twist open the whole lid as if you were to fill/dump water,4) hear the pressure get released, 5) unlatch and release the actual drinking mechanism, and 6) screw back on and drink as usual. Several things have happened that have made me need a replacement bottle: 1) I lost the silicone stopper when the bottle fell and it popped off (I didn't realize that it had happened and had a huge leak in my bag; remember to always latch the bottle, otherwise, the bottle opens and your water will spill!); 2) I forgot the bottle had liquid in it and I went through airport security, but didn't have time to dump the liquid post-scan and go back through security with the empty bottle. I had to leave the entire bottle there--total sadness; 3) the plastic piece that snaps on the drinking mechanism broke. I was still able to use the bottle for a while due to the latching mechanism, but eventually got a replacement. Overall, a wonderful bottle with which I've had lots of experiences!

I was looking for a bottle that I could throw in my messenger bag next to papers and electronics and not worry about leaks. I also wanted it to have a wide mouth (for ice cubes and ease of washing), but a narrow drinking opening for ease-of-use. Oh, and the mouthpiece had to be covered so it couldn't get gross. And it had to be openable with one hand. And fit in cupholders. And be lightweight. And so on.Despite my very particular requirements, I had several bottles to choose from, but there are two things that tipped me over to the Nalgene OTF. First, Nalgene has a good warranty. Second, it's got a standard 63mm wide-mouth opening, making it compatible with lots of aftermarket caps in case the OTF cap were to break or I didn't happen to like it.It's comfortable to use, and I expect its durability to be decent. The spot I'd expect to break first is the hinge at the back, but it's held together by a little metal piece, so I don't expect that's going to happen for some time. The button assembly at the front is a little intricate and would be tricky to wash, but it wouldn't normally come into contact with your drink or your mouth, so I don't consider that a problem. It's otherwise very easy to clean, especially if you have a dishwasher. It's perfect for the purposes I bought it for.Despite certain reviews to the contrary, this bottle definitely IS leakproof... unless you've received a defective one, in which case either Amazon or Nalgene should make it right. If you're looking for an absolutely leakproof bottle, this is a great choice - just take a bit of time to test it first.

This bottle has been in use for well over a year, used daily to take water to work. It and its slightly less used buddy (two were purchased) have shown no signs of leaking or cracking after this amount of time. The bottle holds a full three cups (24 ounces) when full to just below the brim, and has a wide enough mouth to add ice. The narrow drinking opening is perfect for not spilling water on yourself, combining the cleaning ease of the old style wide-mouth Nalgene with even more drinking ease than the small-mouth Nalgene. Both the bottle and top (taken off and opened up) are sent through the dishwasher one to two times a week, and have shown no adverse affects from this. There have been no signs of mold as a small number of reviewers have mentioned, so these are either from a different batch or the dishwasher has prevented this. The bottle fits well into cup holders, and is short enough that it doesn't feel too top heavy. As much as I liked the four cup size of traditional Nalgene bottles, this one is more portable and comfortable to use, and fitting into both car and backpack bottle holders is very nice. Additionally, it holds almost an entire cup more water as compared to a standard disposable 16.9 water bottle, making it far more preferable for longer days or trips.I would love to see some darker/richer lid colors, such as a rich indigo blue instead of baby blue, or a hunter green instead of lemon lime, paired together with the clear bottles. I'm very happy with my purchase and would definitely buy a replacement if mine were damaged or lost.
