I got two of these and they are clearly of good solid quality. The mouths are wide enough to drop full size ice cubes in with your beverage. Then cleanup is a breeze. If you have a bottle brush or a glasses sponge you can very easily get in everywhere to clean them. Otherwise you can just use a stick or long utensil to move a dishcloth around inside. These are not made to keep drinks hot or cold. Any ice will pretty much melt at the same temp they would have in a pitcher. Hot drinks should be avoided. These are plastic and so high heat insn't going to work with these.I ordered the Nalgene inserts for them too. The problem with wide mouth jugs or pitchers is they will spill all over you, especially if you add ice. They can give you a shockingly cold shower of whatever beverage you put in. With the Nalene inserts, you push them down into the wide mouth of the bottle. Now you have to drink from the lower part of the opening. There's no other place for an air vent and so you don't want to cover the insert's opening completely with your mouth or it won't flow. It takes a bit of getting used to sipping from it instead of quickly pouring. Some people poke or drill a small hole in the solid side to serve as an air vent. But the great thing is you can tip it way up without getting a face full of ice or liquid. You should get the inserts with each bottle you get because then you have the advantage of easily dropping in ice or even fruit slices. Then when the insert is installed, you have the advange that small mouthed tops provide as in less spills. Also the cap is held on by a well affixed plastic strip that can be easily pushed out of the way or held down by the hand while you drink. This plastic strap is pretty solid and you can use it as a handle for carrying it or hanging the bottle up.I'm quite happy with the quality of the bottles I got. Some reviewers talked of an odor till washed a few times. I didn't notice any such odor before or after their initially cleaning, including the inserts.I highly recommend these bottles.

Where do I even begin? One upon a time, in a land rot with hipsters, tree-huggers, Uggs, NorthFace jackets, and Starbucks, there was a parched young woman. It just so happened that this young woman was struggling to find her way in the world and so badly wanted to fit in with her peers. She noticed that all of the "cool kids" had many things in common including their NorthFace jackets and these weird, hard, water bottles that they all adhered photos and stickers to the outside of, using Mod Podge. Every day she watched the "cool kids" go through volleyball practice, throwing these bottles around when they were done drinking water from them. One day, she noticed a small logo that said,"Nalgene" and thought to herself, "Hmm, perhaps I should get one of those too? Maybe it'll make those kids like me more!"After much begging and pleading, her mother took her to the nearest REI and allowed her to use the money she'd been saving to purchase a pink Nalgene bottle and that's when the love affair began. The young woman and her bottle were never far from each other. She beat the h--- out of that thing (unintentionally, of course) and it embraced her treatment with undying love. Not once did it crack, falter or show any signs of weakness and stayed true to the young woman until one day she lost it.The EndBottom Line:This thing is amazing.Rough, tough and the baddest b---h on the blockI appreciate the wide-mouth so I can add ice to it (nothing annoys me more than a drinking hole being too small for ice)Easy to cleanI had one all through high school and it took a beating.I recently purchased this orange one for my 9-year-old in hopes that he carries on the legacy and passes it down to his children too.

Although I received this item a while ago, I have not been able to use it until today because I wanted to get rid of my 2 - 50oz water bottles first. Today was my first day using this bottle, so this is my review based on approx. 24hrs of use. I have to say I like it so far! First, I love that it is BPA free, that was my deal breaker when looking for a new reusable water bottle. I know the consequences of consuming water from plastic bottles. It also seems to be spill proof which is important to me because I travel to work with it in a book bag and would like to go on hikes with this as well. I need to be able to just throw it in a bag and it hang upside down, side ways etc without it dripping or leaking in my bag.My ONLY problem is the volume measurements, which says its approximate but it is actually WAY off. This was so disappointing because the thing that attracted me to the bottle was the measurements on the side. I like to drink 10oz with my meals and between meals, because I lift weights and I am very anal about the precise amt of water going into my body at a specific time. After doing the measurements myself, I realized it was off and I was a little annoyed. Its actually a 50oz bottle too, not a 48oz...I checked twice! I almost gave it a 3 stars rating but I did get 2 out of the 3 things I needed so that's why I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars instead! If you're not as picky as me I would recommend it, I'm actually buying my co-worker one as well!

I've been using Nalgene water bottles for camping, hiking, and everyday use for close to twenty years, and I can attest that Nalgene water bottles are durable, and will serve you well for a long time. I'm unsure what is recommended by the manufacturer, but I've washed mine in the dishwasher (top rack) for years with no problems. I recently ordered the Nalgene “Silo” bottle which holds a whopping 48 ounces! This is the first time that I have had one this large, but it seems to be made just as sturdy as all the others I've owned over the years. I purchased it to use at work, because I recently decided that I wasn't drinking enough water throughout the day – this bottle will certainly help with that!Since it holds 48 ounces, only have to fill it twice per day to have all the water I want. It was labeled “BPA Free” and I have no reason to doubt it. The “Silo” will not fit in most cup holders, so I also have one that fits in the car cup holder – it's a Nalgene OTF (On the Fly). The OTF holds 20 ounces, and has a different style cap that pops open with a button. Nalgene sells many various sizes, styles, and colors so you should be able to find one to suit you. I've always been a big fan of Nalgene water bottles, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs a good water bottle. The picture on Amazon was of a Blue bottle, but the heading said Grey - which is what I wanted and received,

I'm someone that drinks a lot of liquid. When I first got this bottle, not only was I surprised by the extra height [I was used to the 32 oz nalgene bottles], but I found myself going through the entire bottle around 3 times a day and only having to refill those 3 times, rather than having to constantly refill a smaller water bottle. This is perfect for me as I'm usually stuck in a lecture hall for a couple of hours, so I can't really go to refill my bottle [but buyers be warned! it's dangerous if there's no bathrooms nearby...]Only thing that I'd caution buyers about is the lid. I have only washed this bottle around twice [I always refill it before it goes completely empty],but I panicked once I saw that nasty black scum in the ridges of the inside of the lid."Oh god, was I drinking some of that??"This is mostly my fault for not washing it and always having it moist, but it's an area thats often overlooked and is definitely hard to clean due to it being so tight. I had to get a Q-Tip and some rubbing alcohol to clean it out - something I'm not looking forward to doing in the future again. Hopefully letting it air dry every couple of days will work.

This is the second 48 oz Nalgene I have had. My first was blue (Boy Blue) and had served me well before I misplaced it (surprising due to the ginormous size). I had a brief stint with a 40 oz water bottle with a smaller mouthpiece (which was nice), but I felt myself losing hydration by the minute. I was reluctant to purchase another 48 oz Nalgene since I wasn't able to drink from the wide mouth at the gym (and needed to switch to a "gym water bottle" for part of the day). However, I was concerned for my health. Who knows what the long-term side effects would be of NOT drinking 150+ oz of water a day? So I did some research and ended up purchasing another 48 oz (pink)Nalgene PLUS a straw/lid combo that could perfectly fit the wide mouth Nalgene (here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017WQTX20/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1).I'm now questioning how I ever lived without her. 48 oz water bottles are really a Must in this day and age. She's sturdy (though a little scuffed), and does me well. While only measured to 48 oz, I've found you can fit up to 52 oz if filled to the brim. Keep that in mind when you consider your own hydration.

LOVE. IT. I was never a "reusable water bottle" person. I grew up on plastic water bottles, but after I saw that my water intake was increasing to the point where I was drinking 6 plastic water bottles a day, I figured that I should stop being so selfish and that I should spare the environment. So I invested in this bad boy, and I LOVE it. At first I thought it was too big, but after a while it became a norm for me. I go through 2 of these a day now, and I've only been using it for about 2 weeks. It doesnt smell which is great because I am a germaphobe so the first whiff of a stank would put it in the garbage.I fill up this bad boy everywhere. Super great. Worth the money. Buy it. Get it.I got mine for under $12 ( shipping was free). I also bought a Pur 18 cup water filter to put in my fridge so that I can fill up this bad boy multiple times a day with fresh water ( I am not NOR will I ever be a tap water drinker. The water filter was another AMAZING investment). Best investment thus far. :)

Traditionally, I have always used the 32oz. Nalgene bottles daily as a way to keep water with me wherever I go. Over the past 4-5 years I have successfully kept the same 32oz bottle in good shape, however I always reached the issue of having to refill it at some point during the day, and not always having a source to fill it with. This led me to do some research and discover the 48oz bottle, so I decided to give it a try. I would generally recommend Nalgene bottles for any use, whether for general recreational activity or more intense activities such as backpacking or biking. The 48oz. bottle serves its purpose while also providing that extra 16oz of water that really made a difference in my daily activities.Nalgene bottles are extremely sturdy and reliable, and I would definitely recommend the 48oz. bottle for any use.

I've had this for about a year now, and I use it every single day filled with ice water to bring to work.Zero leaks, zero cracks, zero problems with this product and I wholeheartedly recommend it.Just make sure (like with any water bottle) that you wash it daily. Even if you're only putting water in it, the inside of the bottle and the threads on both the bottle and the cap will become pretty scummy. This has nothing to do with the bottle itself, and is just something people may not consider. Q-tips and hot water work well for this.I even hang it from my bag with a carabiner clip from the plastic loop, and with it dangling and bouncing around it has not damaged the loop -at all-.You simply cannot get something more reliable, especially for the price.

Great bottle-absolutely no taste of plastic whatsoever.I've tried water bladders for carrying water for bushcraft, and to be honest, even the top quality ones make me retch because they always have an aftertaste.I bought the 1.5 litre bottle, and not only is it excellent,it is long, not wide, which makes it excellent for carrying in a side pouch,or in my main bag.If anyone is interested it fits perfectly into the DD Bergen 2017 rucksack side pocket, with room to spare for a few other items.I use a Klean Kanteen 1.2 litre steel canteen, and can boiler water in it,and with this it gives me all the water I need for a good day or two away.Excellent price for a great product.Fantastic quality.Buy one!

I am a teacher, so I often have to do a lot of talking and projecting my voice throughout the day. My normal-sized nalgene was just not enough water! This bigger size is perfect for all-day use. I fill it up in the morning with water and ice. The ice melts within a few hours, so if you don’t like drinking warm water, you may want to buy something insulated. I heard the large size can make it a bit hard to drink from so I paired it with a splash guard which works perfectly. This is is quite durable. I knocked it off my desk and there was no damage. I rinse it out with baking soda every few weeks if it starts to smell. My only regret is that the 48oz size doesn’t come in mint green or teal.

I wanted a big water bottle that performed very well at the most basic function- to hold water and give water when needed. I didn't want complex systems, consisting of caps and buttons, and other movable pieces. I just wanted an almost simple water bottle, but one that was designed excellently at this basic thing. I think this Nalgene bottle excels at this, and it is very satisfying. The bottle is very large, it's lightweight, and it has only a screw cap that works very well. I really like the design of it, and I think the colors that you can choose from look good. On top of it all, it's very cheap and you get tons of value from the bottle.I would highly, highly recommend this bottle.

While it is quite large I bought the Human Gear cap to go with it and it makes it easier to drink out of than without it. It can be heavy to carry when full but I usually have it at my desk. It works the best for me because during the day I usually don't have time to go to the water fountain on the other side of the building to refill a smaller sized bottle. I also know that when I finish the bottle, I drank at least 6 cups of water that day. Having water readily in front of me keeps me drinking water rather than going out to buy other sugary drinks.I highly recommend it especially because it's durable. I've dropped it a few times and nothing happened, not even a dent!

I purchased this as a replacement to a steel, vacuum insulated water bottle that I've been using the past couple years. While the steel bottle works fantastic, it's taken a beating, and it's obnoxiously loud and heavy for use around the house. Nalgene has always been a good brand name, and I wanted a bottle that held a fairly large amount of water. The bottle is lightweight and feels exceptionally tough considering the construction. While it won't hold temperature for liquids like the vacuum insulated bottle, it's not really a concern since I mostly drink room temp water these days.I'm happy with the bottle, and will likely pick up a few more along the way.

I love this bottle. I had been looking for a bottle this big to use while running on my threamil because I was training for a marathon and it was a pain to stop my workout, get off the machine, walk to a water fountain, refill my regular size bottles, get back on the machine, and resume my run. I fill this one up and it usually lasts through the whole two hours run and it keeps me well hydrated. I also bought a humangear cap to go with it because the lid is just too wide to drink from it while running without bathing yourself in drinking water. I made the purchase a while ago and the markings are still intact.
