The flavor did NOT change with this new formula. Both the old and new versions of the Big 100 Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bar have exactly the same light almond flavor. The new version is slightly less sweet, but other than that the flavors are identical. It tastes good and has no aftertaste (Of course, if you’re buying these things purely for the taste, you’ll probably prefer the Super Cookie Crunch bars). I prefer eating the new bar because the old bar was syrupy sweet and the surface of the bar was so tacky that it was sometimes difficult to peel back the wrapper. The old version wouldn’t even hold its shape; it’d bend over in my hand like it’d been left out in the sun. Also, the new formula has more protein than the old formula (30g vs 28g) and the protein appears to be the highest quality of all the Big 100 bars. Two others have a gram or two more protein, but this is the only bar that lists the proprietary V100 protein as the first ingredient. In all of the other Big 100 bars, the proprietary protein blend is further down the ingredient list, meaning that some of the 30-32 grams of protein is actually from soy and other sources. This new formula has the most V100 protein blend and appears to have the least soy. For a competitive athlete in search of quality protein, this bar is a good choice. I was initially concerned about the extra 30-50 calories and the few extra grams of fat in this new formula, but it’s been working well for me so far. The new version satiates my hunger better than the old version and serves as a better meal replacement. If I have one in place of lunch with some water I find that I'm not thinking about food again until dinner. These bars are big enough that you might sometimes find that half a bar is sufficient. If so, just cut the bar in half and put the rest in a sandwich bag until your next meal or snack. They've worked well for me both pre and post workout. If you're willing to order in bulk, you can get these directly from Met-Rx for around $1.60 per bar, shipping included. Watch for one of Met-Rx's 20% sales, and then order a large enough quantity to get free shipping (around 72 bars). Or, you can just set up auto delivery for around $1.80/bar and not have to worry about catching the sales.

Overall I loved the cookie dough flavor taste and was pleasantly surprised. This has a thick and chewey version of cookie dough texture with a hard chocolate coating bottom to it. Its not like a literal baking homemade cookie dough, but similar to the chunks used in ice cream flavors in texture and flavor. It’s not crunchy at all, and not gritty like other bars I’ve tried. Very pleased with texture and felt indulgent to eat.Has some cholesterol in it so if restrictions apply in your diet for health reasons check that out to make sure amount is ok.Chocolate could pose an issue with melting so don’t leave in car or hot places.I felt very full and satisfied with this as a meal replacement and it’s size was pleasing because took a while to enjoy and consume (in a good way).My main problem with meal replacement bars is mentally feeling like I didn’t eat then snacking. I was so pleased that I did not feel the need to snack at all after having this as breakfast on the go until lunch.Really happy with these. Highly recommend based on taste and size- but check the content out (pictures included) and make sure it’s what you need nutritionally.Made in Canada (cool- like that).

These bars are big, and 410 calories each. By big, I mean about as much mass as three or four Clif bars. They taste just like cookie dough, and are therefore cloyingly sweet, and must be consumed with water or coffee or milk or something. They are delicious, but in the way dessert is delicious, not in the way you'd expect a "meal replacement" to be delicious. But, if you're eating these in the middle of training, all those carbs are going to keep you going. I ate one in the middle of a 40 mile bike ride (along with a banana) and it definitely helped. Technically, I ate half right away and nibbled on the rest over time. To be honest,I think that these are not what you want to be eating unless you're eating them in conjunction with working out or physical activity. All that sugar and 410 calories is not going to do you any good unless you're working hard. If you're working hard, it's great to be able to fuel yourself so conveniently. My use for these is as a compact energy/nutrition source for long rides on my road bike. There's not a lot of room for stuff on that bike, so these ingots of sugar and dough and protein are a nice addition to the arsenal.

These MET-Rx bars are much better tasting than I expected. I like the softer consistency as compared to granola type bars and they pack a big protein punch. The amount of fat is low for a big bar like this and, with tons of protein and vitamins, these bars are fine as a meal replacement. The one thing that makes me cringe: 360 calories! Yikes.I am a woman who eats around 1500 calories a day unless it is a special occasion or I am unable to get low calorie foods at a restaurant. At my age - over 50 - my metabolism is just not that fast and I don't want to gain weight. So 360 calories for a bar is high for me. What I do is cut the bars into thirds.I still get a good amount of protein and nutrition but I lower my calorie consumption significantly. I eat the portions as a snack or after a workout to replenish myself. I rarely eat before a workout.I really like the flavor of these bars and enjoy eating them. I will buy more when this box is gone because, calorie for calorie, they are better than just about any bar I have tried. The box goes a lot further when the vars are split up so these are a great value for me.

I see a lot of people commenting that they don't love the new bars now that MET-Rx changed some of their formulations. I for one am a HUGE fan of these bars (and the new taste). I used to really like the older MET-Rx bars and ate them for years. And now MET-Rx has made them even better. I always look forward to eating my protein bar at 1:30 each afternoon. These new bars are really soft and creamy. And they really taste very good. One bar is 310 calories and fills you up. It's a great meal replacement for anyone on a 6 meal/day diet because it fits right in line with doing about 1800-2000 calories a day. They use sugar alcohol rather than sugar to sweeten the bar so it only has 1 gram of sugar.Plus it's got 32 grams of protein!I knocked off one star because as others are commented, the bars don't hold up well to shipping. I have received them melted in the past. So I now buy them direct from my super market or local GNC/Vitamin Shoppe. But these are definitely worth trying.

Overall we were happy with these bars. My husband works a job that is constant movement and no predetermined meal times. Having something like this on hand is important for him to keep himself going for 12 plus hours. It seems to have a good balance of nutritional value for his needs. It may not be what everyone is looking for but for us they seemed to fill him up enough to keep him going. They do reccomend that you drink 8 oz of water with the bars.He enjoyed the flavor and thought they were pretty easy to eat, not to dense. The price seems a bit high at $3 a bar at regular price and $2 if they are on sale. I think the sale price is more reasonable for a meal replacement bar. They do have alot of calories so I dont reccomend eating them in addition to a meal. I would definitely eat them only as a replacement.

This is the bar for you if you are looking for a Gluten Free meal replacement bar. I tried the cookie dough version. It is a large bar with 410 calories and packed with protein. It is very filling and definitely meal replacement. If I were to snack on it, I would cut off slices and eat them over time. The texture is similar to most high end GF protein bars - chewy and solid. As for flavor, the cookie dough version tastes just like chocolate chip cookie dough on a bed of chocolate - yum! There are a lot of different bars out there, but this one is by far the largest I have tried. The calories may be high for some people, but as meal replacement the size of the bar and the number of calories is understandable.

I decided to check online for these Met-RX bars because my local grocery store had run out. They were being sold at a very competitive price, so I decided to order. The bars arrived according to the expectations set. My only issue is that they were stuck to their packaging inside due to melting (assuming during shipment). The bars are very good, but just messy when melted to the packaging as they flake as you try to eat them.I have found the bars to be a good protein source for my current regimen and I have lost 14 pounds since incorporating them in my diet AND exercise. The bars aren't the magic sauce for weight loss, but they were a great addition to my routine.

These protien bars are amazing! I've tried alot of different protien bars in the past and these ones are definitely my favorite. They are really big and pack plenty of protien and nutrients. They are pretty generous in caloric intake so something to be aware of. I like them for breakfast as a meal replacement on the go. My husband and daughter also liked them alot! The flavor actually tastes alot like cookie dough for not actually being cookie dough. The only negative is the amount of added sugars at 16g, but I'm willing to take the bad with the good as the flavor is delicious, and they pack alot of goodness still. I will be buying these again for sure!

This is not for the low carb crowd, but is by far one of the best tasting protein bars I have tasted and I have tasted quite a few...it might have to do with the added sugars but I digress. As I don't work out like I used to being retired from the Army, I currently use these for 'emergency' rations, keeping them in my car and backpack. They work great for when I get hangry and keep long (well past their ~1 year best by date) as. With 410 calories provided by a mix of carbs, fat and of course, protein, these are a great option for long hikes, ruck marches, day long riots, the collapse of modern society and TEOTWAWKI.

I love these bars! I can honestly say I have tried hundreds, and I eat these like candy bars. When I get a chocolate attack I pick up one of these and I am quite satisfied! In fact I subscribe to receive two boxes monthly and sometimes more. It is quite obvious that MET-Rx took the time to find just the right chocolate to make these taste normal, and to me they did. Every one taste the same too. I say this because some times I can eat a protein bar one time and it tastes pretty good and then I taste it again and it tastes stale to me, so it could be packaging or something else, but I have found my bar.

These protein bars taste great and are perfect for those times that you're on the road and can't eat. They are super filling, satisfying and relatively healthy. I suffer from low blood sugar and can't always eat at regular intervals due to my erratic schedule. I always keep one of these in my purse and it ensures that I don't become ravenous during the day. These are also perfect for sitting through long classes. Rather than eating a sugar-laden candy bar from a vending machine I eat one of these instead. I stay full longer and don't get a "sugar high" as I do with regular candy.

I have tried literally dozens of protein bars and meal replacement bars and have not found one that I could stomach until I tried these. They actually taste 90% like cookie dough! I would go as far to say eating these are a pleasure! The protein itself is a nice blend of Whey, and Milk Protein Isolate which combines faster absorbing and slower absorbing proteins. With 28 grams of protein these bars provide a great and easy way to start off your day and add protein to your diet.If you are tired of trying bland, chalky protein bars, search no further and give these a try today.

The flavor of these bars is really good. I got the cookie dough flavor and it has both the taste and texture of dough(chewy with crunchy bits) each bar is very large and has 410 calories. If you’re replacing a meal with this bar than that’s fine, but as a snack it’s a little high and I would probably only eat a bit of the bar. I’m planning on taking them to school with me for lunches or snacks, so I probably won’t be eating the whole bar in one sitting very often. The protein fills you up which is great for controlling hunger cravings. I would recommend them :)

I'm a weight lifting enthusiast, and I've been eating MET-Rx products (and other protein/meal replacements) for years. MET-Rx's chocolate brownie is my favorite from just about any company. The brownie is dense, chocolatey, and moist. They're great at room temperature, and have a warm, softer, fresh-baked texture if you pop them in the microwave for ten seconds. I frequently eat these as a quick breakfast when I'm in a rush to get out of the house in the morning. I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for good, healthy calories for their workouts.
