I took a chance on the gum wall just for cosmetics. Many complements from riders that own dual suspension/3X more expensive bikes than my 2018 f-si carbon 5! Original stock called for Schwalbe Racing Ralph 29x2.25. The Maxxis are 29x2.4. 100% difference. I'm 5'11", 218lbs, athletic built...the traction I get from these on wet/dry sand, stumps, rocks, gravel, man made mini ditches...and even dry single tracks (gravel)...are insane!!!I can punch my way through any terrain! Ascending/descending/ Cornering is as if I dismounted and rolled my bike through! Only thing, these tires have not been on pavement for more than 2 miles. So, I cannot comment on street riding. But off road....EXCELLENT!Highly recommend!!

Wow! I wasn't expecting these tires to make such a difference, but they do! I have a Trek Fuel EX7 that came with Bontrager 2.3-inch tires. I always felt that the Bontrager tires didn't have that much grip and felt hard on rocky trails. So, I used to ride them with very low PSI (in the teens), but kept bottoming out on rocky terrain.Once I got these tires, I was able to up the PSI into the low 20s and still have a lot more bite on the trails. With these, I confidently roll over sharp jagged rocks without hesitation. I am very pleased with these tires. Despite being more aggressive, I haven't noticed increased rolling resistance.

Very cool retro look. Not ust, but will seal up with stans. Light and fast rolling, great traction in wetter conditions. Casing is a bit thin for AM use, but more durable than other light weight casings. If you ride aggressively, the transition area is big and sparse making it harder to engage the side knobs for cornering unless you lean aggressively. Otherwise great looking tire that works great for wet upstate NY fall conditions. If riding aggressively, would definitely recommend the EXO casing for durability and tire profile however.

I replaced my front tire with this, and have been quite happy with the change. (I previously had 2.2 Ikons front and rear, still have the rear one.)With this in the front, I feel like I have just a bit more grip in the corners without any change I have noticed to top speed rolling resistance. I feel more confident pushing through corners with a little more speed than before.I only ride off road when trails are dry to tacky, so I have no idea how grip is in other conditions.I would definitely recommend this tire.

I used to have 2.25 and I loved that tire: fast, light and good in wet conditions. It was lacking slightly in grip on dry, steep and loose terrain, so you had to adjust a little for that. It was perfect for wet, rocky and rooty conditions. 2.4 Ardents arrived reasonably fast but at this price point I really did not mind waiting a few days extra. They are really full and look awesome on my new 35 mm internal width rims. I am going to have little trouble getting to the top of those long climbs.

I mainly bought this tyre for its aesthetics to get that classic 90s retro look on my hardtail 29er.I've used this on a casual XC trail loop around the Malvern Hills medium route. It rolled and gripped well on loose dry terrain.I've fitted 2.4" Ardent front with a 2.2" Ikon rear and for me it the setup is good.I also use my bike on short daily commutes to work. Bearing in mind this is an MTB tyre and not a hybrid it's okay.

An excellent moderately light tire with good grip as well as puncture protection with the EXO protection. This is the first Ardent Race I have tried but I've ran the regular Ardent with EXO and haven't had a flat in a long time. I've got about 100 miles on this tire so far and it really performs well. I am using it on the front. I may also try this one the rear as the other tire I was trying did not do well.

It depends on where you ride but I have found this to be my go to tire. It has the profile when I brake hard that this tire really grabs before skidding and I like the side nobs for cornering. The deal on this was great at $30 a tire plus $7.50 shipping. It took a while to get to the USA Washington state from Italy but considering customs and post office this was a great deal fro a great tire.

After running the Ardent race front and rear, I wanted a beefier tread for the winter months. The Ardent has been the perfect tire. Great cornering, acceleration, and braking but with very little rolling resistance. Pretty durable as well...9 months of 2 to 3 hours 6 x a week all on dirt. Longest wearing tire I've ever owned. This is my second set. 2.4 for winter 2.25 for summer racing season.

I've ridden this mounted in the rear of my 6" travel bike on around 100 miles of sharp, rocky trail and had no issues at 30PSI. This tire digs, leans easy and is easy to control on its edge. Butt stearing is almost as predictable as my 2.1 High Roller. Maybe I'm still getting use to it.. I like this tire and will ride another. Rocks don't seem to shred it which is nice.

Really light tyre , good reviews online , blocks are small but plentiful. Unfortunately I haven’t used it yet as I could just not get it set up tubeless .to be fair It doesn’t state it’s a TR tyre , I’ve read reviews saying it is, but I just couldn’t get it to seat. even with my air chamber and tubeless ready rims. If you want a tubeless tyre maybes look else where.

Excellent grip at low pressure tubeless. Fantastic cornering and braking performance. Performs significantly better in corners than the 2.25 versions and the larger volume really helps with smooth roll over roots and rocks. I feel rolling resistance is quite good. Use it in the front, mostly xc rolling trails. Too much for rear - I use ardent race out back.

These tires are absolutely gorgeous on my all mountain hardtail 29er. They roll fast and grip well too. Had been running Maxxis Minion's previously, but they were over-kill for most of the riding I do. Will probably be running these tires for the foreseeable future. Much less expensive than the Hans Dampf (and more durable in my experience).

Badass tires, the cornering ability is amazing on this tire, have yet to find the slip point. I live in a very wet place most of the year and these tires do well in them, but do not do well in thick mud like most tires. I ride this tire pumped up to 55 PSI on roads and the roll resistance actually is not bad on the center tread.

Swapped to these after using continental X kings and they are notciabley better - currently using them to ride through mud, woods and gravel trails and they give me a lot more confidence in the corners. I’m not one for saving grams is weight so I couldn’t tell you if I’m any quicker rolling but definitely faster down the hills!
