A Mars bar that is not going to immediately undo a bunch of good healthy activity with its wicked mixture of sugar and deliciousness?? Can it be so?? Well, yes and no (sadly). I don`t have Mars bars very often at all, but there was a time - when I could eat stuff without instant weight gain - when I would have a kingsize every lunchtime. They were always my favourite bar. So the prospect of that flavour, but with increased protein and less sugar, is massively appealing. For comparison, this bar (57g) contains 13.0g of sugar (approx. three teaspoons) compared with a normal Mars bar, which has 20.8g per 36g bar (over five teaspoons in a much smaller bar) - so that`s a big improvement,as sugar is of course the real problem with snack food (and something the government has finally woken up to). My source for these numbers is the Mars website and the protein bar in my hand :)The protein content - 19g per bar - is favourably comparable with many similar bars. I often have Grenade`s Caramel Chaos bars, which are very tasty, and they contain 23g of protein but only have half a teaspoon of sugar (the rest of the sweetness is from polyols which can be disregarded as carbs, for anyone watching that aspect of their diet).Mars have made a delicious bar, undoubtedly. I have a sweet tooth and fight it most of my life! However, I wish this would make its mind up what it`s supposed to be. There is too much sugar to be considered healthy, and it is too expensive to be considered a normal snack (and the protein alone does not keep it in the healthy snack aisle). However, it is delicious...so I suppose it has a place as a slightly healthier version of an all-time classic bar. Bring the price down, and I might just go back to my old habits...

The world of protein bars is getting more and more competitive, meaning more and more options for us consumers.I'm sure everyone was as excited as I was when Mars announced they would make both Mars and Snickers 'protein bars'Having had 2 boxes of 18 over the past few months, I have come to the conclusion that I both love and hate these bars.Good points:1. The Taste. It's so very similar to a normal Mars bar, it's just slightly more chewy, which is to be expected.2. The Price. Both times I purchased these Amazon had a discount on, so I purchased 18 bars for the same price as most companies sell 12 bars.3. Protein. We all want to hit our macros. 19g of protein is going to help us.Bad points.1.The macros. Let's be honest, they are not amazing. 23g of sugar is not great.2. The alternatives. Quest bars and Grenade bars are both cheaper on amazon and both has better macros (Only slightly).I still would recommend these as a great treat on your diet and still give them 5 stars as the taste/price/macros are all worth it. Just a few years ago the options for protein bars were terrible, we need to encourage companies like Mars to stay in the game.

The chances of protein coming from Mars… are quite good, actually, with each 57g bar containing 19g of protein.I found the product to be harder in texture than a regular Mars bar and not quite as tasty, but not bad at all really. Some reviewers have complained of it being too sweet, but I didn’t find that – but then I do have quite a sweet tooth. This is less sweet than a regular Mars bar.Take care when opening the box – the cardboard that separates the layers of bars has quite a sharp edge to it and I gave myself a paper (well, cardboard) cut the first time I opened the box. Talk about healthy eating! No, really, I’m fine – the cut was annoying more than anything, and it healed within days. The price seems high.To an extent that is par for the course with protein bars, but even so these work out (at the time of writing) quite a bit more expensive by weight than similar products from Grenade.

These High protein Mars Bars taste pretty good - a bit tougher on the teeth than the normal ones to chew, but the same taste, if slightly less of it.In terms of its health food potential it contains 19g proteininstead of the usual 3g. It has a broadly similar calorific value 200g v 260g for the ordinary version, more fat in the protein version (though at least some is unsaturated) and overall the same amount of carbohydrate. So in all perhaps a little better than the conventional bar as a snack when you are training, but in all, it must be said the benefits are pretty modest.

Not the healthiest protein bar you can buy, but definitely the best one i've ever tasted, and i have tried quite a few. Tastes a lot like a regular mars bar, but with a bit of a firmer texture, which i actually prefer. With 23g of sugars, it's not exactly healthy, but should still be preferable to candy, as the protein helps with your overall macros and might keep you from being hungry for an hour or two between meals. I probably won't be buying them at their current price though (27.5£), whereas the price i bought them as a black friday deal (15.99£) was more than reasonable.

I have these on subscribe and save via Amazon. You can't find a better price on the internet, let alone in the shops. The macros in these bars are superior to most other protein bars. They don't taste as good as an original Mars bar because they're not loaded with sugar and do have a slight gritty taste. BUT, they are in my humble opinion pretty amazing. My other favourite protein bars are Grenade, Oh Yeah and the Quest strawberry and white chocolate. But this is my bar of choice. I've tried a lot of protein bars so I speak from experience...

Only 200kcal for 19g of protein and it does taste quite like a Mars bar. You can tell there is whey in there, obviously but they've managed to make a great tasting bar that you could give to your non-lifting friends without having to apologise. No increased bathroom visits either which is always a must for me...I didn't buy these super early, when everyone was going nuts over them. I only paid around £15 for the box, which is a good price for any protein bar.

I thought these might be too sweet but these are really nice the nougat part is a little dry compared to a normal Mars but given a choice i'd choose these any day a big dose of protein plus a quick energy boost ideal pre or post workout!I just wish they'd make their normal bar more like these!Great to keep in with your training kit to munch on after a heavy session!

I'll be honest, I'm not sure about these. To my mind they taste sweeter than the non protein version. But they do help me cure a sweetness craving whilst still hitting macros. My husband doesn't work out or count macros, and he likes them, he thinks they are less sickly sweet than the regular bars. Definitely worth a try and you can make your own mind up.

A protein bar that tastes this good can't possibly be good for you. I have tried quite a few over the years and most of them taste dry and generally horrid and are usually thrown out as they never get eaten by the use by date. This on the other hand is already half finished, shame about the price though, makes these almost £2 a pop.

Bought these for the first time to see what the hype was about . Fair to say there brilliant , really good tasting bar and also not a hard bar either unlike others I've tried . Would recommend these to be tried ! Excellent will be buying again!

I've been buying these off the Internet for a while until my local gyms shop started selling them. What a fantastic supplement for the day, it fits in perfectly with my diet plan and helps me get through a hard workout brilliantly.

Good price compared to when they were first released, have similar taste to that of a mars bar. If you're like me and had to stomach the chewy horrible protein bars when they first came about, these are like a luxury!

19.9.2017

Without a doubt, the BEST tasting protein bar available. It's a little drier than your regular Mars bar, which is to be expected due it to being a protein bar but it's easily the nicest I've ever tried!
