I have extremely sensitive skin and so finding a combination of blade, shaving oils and shave creams is an ongoing experiment. I switched to double edge safety razors years ago and found Korean Dorco blades worked best for me. Shaving creams that I like varied from Proraso to Dr. Bronner to Taylor of Old Bond Street. L'Occitane products always seem to be priced at the higher end of the scale, but I thought it was worth a try to see if their product was premium in quality or just in hype. I went in with a negative bias expecting it to be comparable to less expensive offerings, but I have to say I was happily impressed. Proraso, for example, extrudes from the tube as a very thick paste and provides loads of lather when used with a good shaving brush, but after rinsing it seemed to leave a residue that was hard to remove completely. Dr. Bronner rinsed easily and left my face feeling very clean, but the lather it produced while effective wasn't particularly thick and creamy. This L'Occitane, seemed to provide the best of both creams. First, it takes very little, perhaps a quarter inch from the tube per shave. The lather it produces isn't hugely foamy, thus filled with air, but is luxuriously thick and protective. I sometimes coat my skin with oil before applying shave cream for the added viscosity and glide, but with this I found it wasn't necessary. Everyone's skin is different and each person has their own preference as to what makes a great shave for them. But so far I'm very impressed. While expensive, a little goes a long way, so it proved to be unexpectedly cost effective. At the moment, it's become my favorite product so far and though I'll keep experimenting, I plan to reorder it when this tube is finished a few months from now.UPDATE: MARCH 5, 2016; I've been using CADE for over a year now and can offer two insights. First is that time has only reinforced that this is easily the best shave cream I have ever used at any price. Nicks and cuts are thankfully largely an unpleasant memory for my ultra sensitive skin. But second is the incredible longevity of a single tube. Since my work requires frequent flying, I alternately use an electric razor to avoid problems with razors and the TSA, so at least half the time that's my shaving tool. That still represents getting over 6 months of use from a single tube of CADE shave cream! I'm nearing the end of the first tube and will be ordering my next tube in a month or so. So after a year of use, incredible satisfaction and remarkable longevity, making it a terrific value to me.

I have been a connoisseur of shaving with top end shaving creams and using an authentic Badger hair brush. I am picky about my products because I believe shaving is an art. I did not expect to be overly impressed with L'Occitane CADE Shaving Cream but I was. If you are just a squirt from the can kind of guy this may not be for you. There is no doubt that you can rub in in your hands and apply it to your face and get a decent shave, but this cream works best for me when applied directly to my shaving brush after it has been moistened with hot water (before applying the Cream to the moistened brush shake the brush once to eliminate excess water saturation). The amount of Cream squeezed from the tube to the shaving brush should be no more than the length of toothpaste you would squeeze onto your toothbrush. There is no need to spread this Cream on your shaving brush. Instead, working the brush starting on either side of the face using a circular wrist action will begin to work up this cream into a lather as you work he brush on your face. Once you have covered your face by circular motions, use a back and forth motion with your brush to make a consistent, smooth creamy layer on your face. I won't go into shaving technique but I found that this Shaving Cream significantly reduced the nicks I got in the shaving process. I still get nicks but they are few and far between and I don't get nicked every time I shave. To get the most out of your completed shave with L'Occitane CADE Shaving use very warm water to rinse your face and follow up with splashing your rinsed face with cold water.

I am a female who shaves her legs with a razor. And I absolutely adore this shave cream.I find the scent is of a slightly minty juniper, one of my all time favorite fragrances. Yes, this can go either way gender wise I feel. This comes in a 5.2 ounce large tube which is metallic looking with a handsome brown and black label to let men know it's masculine. The cream is a soft white creamy paste that transforms into a delicate lather as you spread it onto your skin. The scent is subtle but refreshing and clean smelling. The best thing is the way this lubricates the skin. It makes the slip of the razor on the skin with this a delightful experience. Nothing could make that blade glide more perfectly. This is enriched with CADE oil whatever that is,shea butter and one of my favorite skin ingredients, glycerin. This rinses off skin easily and completely leaving skin moist and delicately scented.I've become a fan of all things made by L'Occitane and this is no exception. Certainly the wonderful fragrances are a delight for the nose, but the formulas are simple natural and elegant as well as the packaging. This is wonderful, and I assure you it can be used by us ladies with pleasure.

I've been using a silicone based shaving lotion for years, and thought I had the best option available - until I tried this. This shaving cream is thick and creamy, and goes on easily as a nice thick cream. I probably use more than is recommended, but I have a thick beard, and typically shave 3-4 times a week. With good, hot water, and a good razor, I've had some of the easiest, smoothest shaves in my lifetime - the blades glide easily through a few days of growth with no irritation, and the cream easily cleans out from between the blades with no effort (a big requirement). The scent is great also - it reminds me of a classic barbershop shave scent, and my grandfathers' shaving creams/lotions,which makes me smile thinking of them. The only thing I don't like is the screw cap and the slick tube - a little water and cream, and it can be tough to thread the top back on - and can get messy, too. (Paper towels in the bathroom are a must to wipe the threads/top clean after each use).Pros:Thick creamilicousnessno irritationrinses from blades cleanlyCons:Cap area can get gunked up easily.

My husband really loves L'Occitane CADE Shaving Cream. At first he was skeptical, having never used anything but the cheapest shaving cream. The way this product goes on without becoming a mass of thick foam had him wondering if he was using it correctly; it takes a bit of getting used to when you expect shaving cream to make a thick, foamy lather. However, he really liked how his skin felt after shaving and I really liked the scent. He has been won over and now turns his nose up at the can of cheapo shaving cream in the shower. In fact, my husband's love of the L'Occitane shaving cream tempted me to try it for myself. I have sensitive skin that tends to be dry after shaving but is often irritated by body lotions. My skin was much less dry after using this shaving cream and I had no irritation. This would make a nice gift -- the packaging looks classy. This shaving cream with a great razor would be perfect stocking stuffers or a good way to pamper the man in your life. Especially if you can then borrow it from time to time!

I ordered this for my husband, and he was very anxious to try it. He loves it. His skin feels much better (to him) a day after shaving with this than normal shaving creams. He has sensitive skin, and shaving with regular shaving cream often leaves him irritated This cream is soothing, and leaves his skin soft and smooth, and helps to prevent nicks and irritation. He does wish it had a more powerful juniper smell--but I think it smells perfect, and not too strong. It certainly would not interfere with any other fragrances and it is not overwhelming like some men's products. Yes, it is pricey, but it is a luxury product, and I've found with products like this, a little goes a much longer way than the cheaper options. This would make a nice addition to any shaving kit--and women will like it too, for the fragrance and for their own shaving needs.

Given the cost, I was initially reluctant to try this product, but after my first shave with it, I have to say I'm impressed. No question, it's double the price of Prorasso, and roughly on par with Truefit & Hill - which makes it a very premium product on price. Like Truefit & Hill, it's very concentrated, so a little goes quite a very long way. The lather (I use a brush & bowl) is superb and it lubricates well for great shave. The fragrance is really nice and subtle - lightly herbaceous and fragrant. The residual scent is so light and smells so good, I almost wish there was more of it. In my view, Truefit & Hill sets the standard for a high quality shave product. L'occitane is right there with them.In all, if you enjoy shaving and shaving products as much as I do, this is one product worth trying.

This is such a great gift for the man in your life. It's a bit pricey, but much like some of the fancy bubble baths, lotions and perfumes that we so love, this shaving cream is top notch and actually a treat to use. My husband loved the simple, but manly scent (no strong smell; but there). He loved how EASY his shaving experience was. He usually uses the more expensive bottled and moisturizing shaving cream, but this one REALLY made for a smooth shave with zero irritation, zero pulling and zero little nicks. Quality. It's very thick, so you add some water to it and it lathers up nicely. Honestly, I am thinking this little tube will actually last twice as long as "normal" shaving cream,so it's honestly not THAT much more expensive in the long run even though it seems like it up front.

This is the best shave cream on the market. It may be a little on the pricey side but it is worth it. My husband has tried several others but always returns to this brand. The smell is amazing and it leaves his skin so so so soft/smooth. My cherished moment of the day is when he leaves in the morning, super early and kisses me good bye..... I smile just thinking about that moment and the smell that lingers is just perfect! I purchase this every couple of months. It lasts a long time, you don't have to use a lot, and the price evens out over the long run! This product is a great one for any guy in your life (and it is also a great shaving cream for legs too.. I have used it a time or too).

I am not great at shaving, so I constantly try new products to see if they help. I often prefer shaving cream for men, so I wasn't afraid about the fact this was marked as a men's product.I have never used shaving cream from a tube before. You squeeze out a small amount, lather it in your hands, and then apply. The tube looks small, but there's enough to last a decent amount of time. The lather is nice but not overwhelming, and I got a pretty good shave with it. This is pricey for shaving cream, but works well. There is a smell (juniper), but it isn't overpowering.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He got a new job and has to shave everyday. It smells heavenly yet super manly at the same time. I hope that makes sense. It has a rich, but not overpowering scent. He hasn't had a chance to try it yet but he likes the way it smells ( he's not a man who uses aftershave or cologne so thank goodness). Don' t let the price tag scare you, L'Occitane CADE Shaving Cream for Men is worth the price. It's good for your skin and it will make your boyfriend or husband smell amazing and I say that's a win win.

Don't do a lot of reviews, especially ones unsolicited. But this item deserves comment. I have used several dozen high grade shave creams/soaps in the past 20 years and enjoy trying new items. But this one will be my go-to. I have always experienced the occasional ingrown whisker on my face and accepted that as part of the shaving experience. I have been using Cade for two months and have not had any ingrowns. This also gives me the closest shave I've ever had. One man's thoughts - give it a try...

I have very sensitive skin. I used to get cuts, abrasions, and red irritated skin every time I shaved. This product is the only one I've used, and I've tried most of them, that leaves my skin smooth and comfortable feeling. I just shave my neck, so a tube last me about a year. You only need a small amount since a little goes a long way. It's an all nautral product, and I think the shea butter makes the difference. If you have sensitive skin, it's worth the expense.

quite a lovely shave cream! Both my husband and I have used it and both thought it helped give a smooth shave. We both enjoy the light fragrance and that it's more of a mild creamy lotion rather than a big foamy shaving cream. It is pricey at $28 a tube, which I think will probably last me 2 months. I'm not factoring in husbands usage as I don't intend to let him have it back. I would definately recommend. I would purchase as I like the quality.

This is my favorite super luxury shave cream -- I get it at Christmas and on my birthday. Great slick feel and smell. The rest of the time I use Cremo, with the same slick feel but not quite as nice a smell. However, it's 75% cheaper than L'Occitane. I did say the latter was super luxury! The less you use, the slicker it gets! I pair it with a Dorco power razor and a Toilettree mirror to shave in the shower -- all from Amazon of course.
