This is a notebook designed to fit in with the deluxe products of Moleskine and Leuchtturm1917 – who both make top quality books with prices reflective of that, and then some. Having owned Moleskine and Leuchtturm1917 notebooks on and off for years now I haven't found any real equal to them, but this one from Leitz definitely comes very close.It has a very neatly stitched textured cover and a very good quality elastic band fastener, which is actually better than the one on my current Moleskine actually, which has slackened a lot over time. This band seems to be made of better material. A small pen holder of the same material takes a lot of fiddling to get it to let a pen any thicker than a Parker ballpoint through,but it does the job.Inside the cover is lined with a thick cream paper stock, with a half pocket on the front cover and some lines for contact details on using the same lining paper of the inside cover. The writing pages are of a whiter 100gsm stock and feel as nice and smooth as any paper from the aforementioned brands above, though they aren't numbered like those of Leuchtturm1917. Each page has a 6mm border around the writing area (8mm on the inside), a top space of 8mm for titles/dates and 24 lines with spacings of 7.5mm. There are two book marks which are useful for marking two pages at once.After the lined pages there are eight plain paper pages which are perforated on the left side for tearing out, which could be a useful extra feature for some, but as there are only eight I wouldn't miss them if lined pages were in their place. At the back, the lining paper this time has an 18cm ruler on the left side which probably isn't ideal for precise measuring, but is a nice feature all the same. On the inside cover is an expanding full page pocket, with the expansion made from a textured strong material. Lastly there are two small pads of ten thin silver plastic page tabs, measuring 7 x 45mm. They aren't good for writing on unless with a permanent marker or strong felt tip, but have a really good soft adhesive to them, meaning they stick easily to the paper and can be reused. I think they are a really good feature. Overall I think this fits right into the high quality notepad market dominated by Moleskine and Leuchtturm1917, if not surpassing either and the price is still slightly too high in my view.

The Leitz A5 Notebook that I am using has a funky purple softcover. I like the fact that it is not a hard back cover which makes it easier for me to handle. The soft cover is very flexible but does not leave any “creases”There is an elasticated eyelet on the edge into which a biro or pencil easily fits –and does not fall out.There are some page markers inside the back cover so you and bookmark any pages within the Notebook itself. The cover itself also has an elasticated closure to keep the Notebook shut when not in use. It is also handy if you want to put the odd loose page interleaved inside the Notebook’s pages and it won’t fall out.I am a real fuss pot when it comes to paper quality.The Leitz Notebook paper quality is as good as my Moleskine diary.I have written notes on the Leitz’ with pencil, fountain pen, biro, highlight pen etc. There is no fuzz or blotchiness and the ink does not show through on the other side of the page.All the pages are lined except the 8 blank pages at the very back of the Notebook. These have perforations in them too for removal. I would have liked all of the pages to have been perforated to add a little more flexibility and let you remove any page of your choosing.It does not have numbered pages either which would be handy – even though you can of course add your own.I have used the Notebook for the past few weeks and sketched in it (I am no artist!). I have taken it to various meetings and written down bullet points. I have used it for lists and for making notes about other items I am reviewing.I do use Microsoft Office and other IPad stuff. But it is still a joy to use a writing implement on excellent quality paper. To have something tangible in your hand to “connect” to your brain is great. It is akin to my using my Kindle Fire for reading the majority of my books these days – but I do like to have the odd real book to read now and again.I will certainly use the Leitz Notebook on a regular basis and have enjoyed my experiences so far.

I adore a note book, I always have, I carry one constantly... This is the rolls royce of my set, and I think completely eclipses every other notebook I have.First off, the pages, they're a rich fine quality, quite thick (100gsm) and they're a slight off white, rules at top then through out, so you have a clear title area then your writing area, but also a halo of marking around the page frames it perfectly. Writing on it is very nice, though I will say as a right handed user, writing on the rear of a page (turned over to the left) is not as nice as writing on the main flat right hand page; and of course this would be the same for a left handed user, but in the opposite dimension....But this is a normal niggle when writing into a pre-bound book of any kind.The dual marker ribbons and elasticated hold closed strap are lovely touches, as it the thumb tab, which is a fixed to the rear cover and is perfect to slip your pen through to carry it with you easily. Though I use a triangular pen, and as such had to slip it into this holder with the lid off, regular shaped pens are no problem at all, and the pen when held does not slip nor slide.Inside the front cover is a fold (slip) area, to store a card or any additional sheet you want to carry,the rear has a concertina storage flap which is full height of the book, both excellent additions. On the rear page there are also little silver plastic fobs (post-it-like) which you can peel off their pads and place to leave additional markers; this is an excellent touch.On the rear page there's also an 18cm rule printed on the tail page, not essential, but nice to see.All in all, this is superb and I believe this will be come my daily driver, the quality, presentation and style far far justify the price paid for these.

This is my first experience of posh pads and I really like it. The first thing to mention is that I thought, from the Amazon description, that this was a Leitz Style ie. not a real Leitz. The model of the pad is Style and it is made by Leitz so it is a genuine Leitz branded product with the Leitz logo melted into the cover.It is a very nice navy blue colour with a firm and rigid textured cover. It has a silvered elastic closure which keeps it closed but is very easy to move. There is also an elastic silvered pen loop which stretches very nicely to fit any pen securely.Opening the pad, the inner cover has a quarter page pocket to hold cards or loose notes.The back cover has a half page little folder for more securely holding items. There are also 2 little pads of post-it tabs which are silver in colour and give very nice marking ability.The pad itself if made of thick, smooth paper. Ideal for use with a fountain pen, the ink of which dries quickly with absolutely no ink bleed. Most of the book is lined paper with a small border and title line at the top. The last 8 pages are plain and have a scored edge at the spine for easy removal. The inside back page has a 18cm ruler which is also very useful. There are 2 marker ribbons, one silver and one navy blue which are also very useful for marking 2 areas of the book.This notebook really is a thing of beauty and the price tag matches this. It is rigid and sturdy, smart and neat with excellent quality paper which takes fountain pen ink without flinching.For precious notes, this is an ideal notebook. It's not cheap and there are notebooks out their for 1/10 of the price but for shear luxury and quality, I don't think the Leitz Style can be beaten.Thoroughly recommended

This is a genuinely lovely plush notebook. It feels so posh that I almost had second thoughts about writing any of my scribbles in it, I wasn't sure my ill-formed thoughts were worthy of such a luxury item... Thankfully I overcame that though and discovered that the paper (100gsm- fairly posh without being over-the-top) is a genuine joy to write on. I'll actually be disappointed when I've filled this book.The titan blue cover is soft and leathery, and the blue is somewhere between navy and purple.Most of the book is lined paper, with a fairly large header section at the top for if you're organised enough to keep all your thoughts on a particular subject on a single page...After that you get 8 easy-to-tear plain pages, and then at the back, a couple of little treats. The pull-off reminder stickers are a very neat idea indeed- I always use Post-It notes for precisely that purpose so to have some ready-provided stickers at the back is a great convenience.Then you get a little pocket at the back, which is a convenient little store that you could put receipts or business cards in. It won't hold very much (maybe about 5mm) before stuffing things in the back page will start to deform the shape of the book, but for a handful of little scraps of paper it's another great idea.The standard retail price on this item puts this out of the realm of everyday shopping lists and 'to do' lists, and into the realm of business note-takers, writers scribbling notes, and other people for whom writing things down is of high importance. Apart from perhaps on the price, I can't fault it.Yes you could get a notebook for a fraction of this price, but if you have important things to write down, by buying this you will be treating yourself.

As other reviewers have said this is a nice notebook. For me, the best points about it are the richness of the titan blue colour and the feel of the soft cover and the quality of the paper.It's A5 in size and I am used to using a moleskin notebook of this size, which stands up well to the hurly burly of my handbag. As the cover of this is so soft I imagine that this would get battered fairly quickly and the soft, fabric type cover might not fare well either. I'll be keeping it on my desk, therefore.Other plus points are the perforated pages which allow you to pull some out with ease, the silver elastic fastener keeping the notebook closed and the matching silver place holders and pen holder.The price point for the A5 size is currently £16.68 which is about 50% more than the moleskin and would have led me to expect something rather more luxurious in look and feel.I presume much of the price is down is down to the paper quality - I wondered if it were acid free but that isn't one of the claims. The specification says 'It contains 80 sheets of ruled, high quality, FSC certified ivory paper,' which stands for Forest Stewardship Council, and looking at their website they say 'When you see this logo, you can be confident that buying it won't mean harming the world's forests.'A lovely looking notebook with nice paper, but think about price and whether such a soft cover meets your requirements.

This is a nice looking A5 notebook with lots of features and is a reasonable size to fit into a large pocket, handbag or brief case. Most of the pages are lined, but there are a few plain pages in the back that are perforated so they can be ripped out. Inside the back cover there are a few 'post-it note' type stickers which you can use for highlighting your notes along with an expanding wallet pouch to hold loose pieces of paper, receipts or tickets etc. There is also a printed ruler on the back, as an added feature along with two ribbon book marks. The cover has a satiny luxury finish, though after a couple of trips in my bag, it was already looking a bit bashed around,which if you are looking for a note book you carry around, might be something you consider as it is only a soft back cover. On the other hand, as it is soft back, it is lighter than a hard cover. The pages inside are quite thick and the pages are stitched together. This book does have quite a few nice features. The notebook and its contents are held together with an elastic band and there is a loop to hold a pen, however, I found when I did hold a pen in the holder, it flapped around and twisted, Overall, a nice looking note cover with some extra features. If you are looking for a notebook to make a statement, then maybe this, if you just want something more utilitarian, then perhaps shop around.

This is an excellent 7.5mm spaced feint ruled notebook, ideal for note taking on the go with 160 ruled + 16 plain pages (80 + 8 ivory 100gsm sheets). It takes various inks and pencil equally well, and is the best size to fit into a handbag or briefcase (or my large sagging pocket) alongside all the rest of the clutter.The wipe-clean fabric-look hard-cover has that comfortable slightly soft feel to it, not rubberised, not plastic, not leather, just comfortable. It will interesting to see how long it survives normal daily use. More on this in a couple of months' time.The pages are properly stitch bound so they will not fall out, even after being forced open to lie flat.The spine was quite stiff and needed to be well exercised to lie flat for easy writing. Now supple, it still looks good with no obvious signs of premature wear.The Az blurb is accurate concerning the features supplied, including the pockets, the fiddly thin post-its, the pair of book markers, the excellent elastic closure strip and elastic pen holder. A Bic type biro or a pencil slips out of the pen holder but any decent sized pen or grippy pen is well held.But being a wider 7.5mm line spacing than the 6mm I prefer and only holding 160 ruled + 16 plain pages it will not last as long as my usual

There's no question that this A5 notebook is high quality, much more so than supermarket notebooks.The 80 100gsm pages ooze quality and the case is a smooth dark blue material that catches the light. It has an elastic band to close it and a pen loop at the back to hold a pen.Unlike many notebooks, it also has perforated final pages which can be torn out and a ruler at the back, on the last piece of paper. The very back has a paper pocket for storing odd pieces of paper and silver sticky bookmarks to highlight pages.These are interesting additions that I've not come across in a notebook before, but I can see them being useful.The quality is matched by the price,though any review has to take into account the fact that prices can change. The current price is just over £17 for the A5 size and,to be fair, the page quality does mean that the notepad is roughly in that range.This is not, then, a pad to write odd notes that will be discarded next week. This is something for notes you wish to keep and re-visit, or for when you need to make a good impression. As such, the Leitz notepad will certainly do the trick.Maybe a little overpriced, perhaps, but this is a pad for those who want to write important notes and make them look good.

I love Leitz notebooks and this one is no exception. As soon as you remove the cellophane you are met with the silky Titan Blue softcover – almost has a ribbon like feeling to it with the grey elastic to hold it closed but yet still not too tight that you can’t add things to the notebook. There’s the pen holder sewn in so you know it’s secure to fit a BIC or larger pen.The 80 lined pages are thick yet well bound so you can open the pages flat without damaging it or causing them to fall out. There are two ribbon bookmarks and at the back you will find a pocket – no front pocket as the description seems to mention. There are silver page markers (sticky notes) which really come in handy for the important notes.Not the easiest thing to count but I think 18 or 20 in of those in total. I love that there are 8 perforated blank pages at the back and the last page even has a ruler printed on it.Personally I wouldn’t use it for every day use as it wouldn’t last very long but if you know a writer or anyone who loves to keep a diary or notes then this would make a fantastic gift. E.g. this one shall be used for writing ideas which I can keep coming back to rather than something that wouldn’t be needed once filled.

Other reviewers have described Leitz as a 'moleskine wannabe' which is not quite accurate since Moleskine was an invented brand going back to 1997 and Leitz have a history going back to 1871! They started out producing binders and hole punches including a binder with a lever mechanism (The Leitz-Ordner, i.e. the lever arch file!), Now it's part of the Esselte group.Whatever the truth of the accusation this is certainly a similar product. Having purchased and extensively used Moleskine notebook products in the past I was interested to see if this could justify the higher price. The cover and closure band are certainly similar but having the two products side by side I did perceive a slightly better quality to the paper in the Leitz product.In use they are very similar with minor detail differences such as two page markers and the tear off sheets at the back for the Leitz but I couldn't really put my hand on heart and justify why there is a price difference (albeit they are both on the more expensive side of the stationary market). I would think that you would be happy with either product but perhaps more pleased with the Moleskine having saved yourself a few pounds over the Leitz notebook.

REVIEW LEITZ 4485 NOTEBOOKOh yes, this is one special notebook! Rather expensive at £17.99 reduced from £23.03 but what a quality item. It would impress at any business meeting!It's A5 portrait size, hardback, beautifully bound in a navy blue colour with quality stitching all round and it just screams 'classy'. It has silver coloured elastic embellishments ie a band running from top to bottom to keep it closed and a loop on the right hand side for a pen. I teamed it with a silver pen and it really looks the business. There are also two ribbon page markers, navy and silver. You get my drift?Inside the cover there is a pocket to put your whatevers, a page for your name and address,then the ruled pages begin. Lovely quality paper. At the end of the ruled pages there are some plain pages which are perforated and can be easily removed. There is a page of heavier quality paper which is calibrated in centimetres if you should wish to measure something, some adhesive, silver, page index markers and finally a gusseted pocket attached to the back cover for your bigger whatevers.What a lovely book and one which I will really enjoy using. I feel I have to use my best handwriting!. Five stars!

This notebook is a very high quality book. Right from picking it up you can feel the quality in the hardback cover. It has a slightly padded feel to it which means you won't get tired of holding it if writing on the move. Inside the back and front covers have pockets - very well made as they are sturdy and feel like they could withstand quite a lot of use. To complete the tools available, there are two piles of small sticky notes fixed to the rear cover. These are slightly unusual as they are silver - useful for indexing and highlighting important pages.The key to a good notebook is the quality of the paper and after extensive testing I can confirm that there is minimal bleed through on the pages from rollerballs,biros and fountain pens. Only felt tips caused any bleed through which, given the industrial strength in associated with these, is no surprise really! The pages are all lined except for the detachable pages in the back which are plain. Personally I prefer plain paper - however the ruled lines are not excessively wide like some note books.All in all this is a very good quality notebook and manages to give the similarly priced competition a run for its money.

The cover has a really unique feel to it... It's almost soft, and it has the sound when you scratch it (like opening and closing a zip... cmon, you know the sound...)The strap to keep it closed is strong, it doesn't appear to break any time soon.The cover itself seems to be fragile against finger marks and scratches, both of which seem to fade instantly due to the material.I originally bought the product because of the contrasting colours and the unique 2 material place holders, i can see now that the feel, weight, and overall look of it makes it worth the money.The reason i haven't rated it 5 stars is that the book-mark style material place-holders (no idea what they're called)came folded and have rather unsightly creases in them - which ill most likely go away or get worse when closing the book.The paper isn't up to the standard that I wanted, the pages are a slight tint of yellow - this look may be complimentary to other styles of books, but I feel that white pages would have been better.I'll be happy to answer any questions, just ask them above.

This attractive A5 sized hard-covered notebook came in an a eye-catching colour called Titan Blue. It has 80 sheets of ruled paper. The rule on the paper is slightly wider than narrow feint.On the rear outer edge of the book, there is a narrow pen holder, which is elasticated, but will hold a fine pen (like a biro), but not a thick pen.Inside the front cover is a card flap to tuck small papers into. Inside the rear cover, you find an impressive and more durable pocket / pouch to hold some larger items. The hardback book format of the diary will not allow these to be pens and such, as the book will not close fully, but it is very useful nonetheless.I use mine for keeping train tickets in.The last 8 pages are not ruled and are perforated for neat and easy tear-off, without damaging the book and there are 2 sticky note piles on the inside back cover. Another neat touch is the metric rule on the edge of the final rear page of the notebook.It looks very neat, attractive and professional and the price is quite reasonable.
