I like nothing better than the convenience, and the feel, of keeping notes in a notebook; rather than trying to capture my thoughts through a keyboard or touch-screen. Work often dictates that everything is translated into an electronic medium; be it a desktop or even my 'device' (phone). However, I still much prefer the pen and paper.I've toyed around with various formats of notepad over the years, from the 'budget' end of the spectrum, with the spiral bind. These are indeed cheap, entirely disposable, but more often lack sturdiness. At the other end (the polar opposite of budget, you might say), there's the bespoke pads, with the finer touches. Quality, weighted paper, premium covers and bindings.Lietz (along with that well known Italian maker of notebooks and diaries) sit firmly in the upper end of quality and versatility. Yes, they can be considered to be a little bit more 'premium', but they are worth every penny, in my opinion.I've never had a binding fail (loose pages get lost, which would defeat the point of keeping everything together) and the notebooks have withstood countless journeys and environments. The pad itself is spot on for A5 pages, which are fine lined and a joy to write on (whether pencil or ink). From notes to drawings, appointments to 'to do' lists; I find it a great companion for externalising those essential thoughts. The twin page markers are a nice touch, as is the 'ticket pocket' (for tucking away those smaller items, that you don't want to lose). The elastic banding is firm and secure, with the touch of green a nice contrast; and there's also a pen / pencil loop on the outside. There's no traditional margin (although each page is lined within a central space) and there's no date markers (remember, this isn't a diary, but can very easy be used as one). There's more than an adequate number of pages (I tend to use two pages to a week, with more then enough spare for extra notes).I really can't recommend this highly enough, as I adore the pad that I have and welcome the chance to keep using them in the future.

I generally use A5 moleskine-type notebooks at work. The brands I currently have are Notables and Silverline which cost around 2-3 quid each. This Leitz brand is much more expensive hence in competition with true Moleskines. The cover is hardbacked and is a vinyl black leather affairIt is all black with bright green accents to go with the new colour-theme in this range. It looks pretty smart in my opinion. The notebook has a strap as a closure and 2 different coloured bookmarks. This has a small elasticated Pen loop. You get a Rear pouch and an additional front pocket. There are a few sticky tabs in the back cover for bookmarking and 8 tear-out blank pages at the back. These are perforated so I guess these are for handing out handwritten notes. The pages are a fairly light gauge and a light cream colour. It is good quality paper which is perfectly fine for ballpoint pens. I’ve not checked with a fountain pen so cannot really comment. Each page has a header line & box margin in a light grey.Overall this is a PERFECT small notebook for work. It has all the bells & whistles you could need but this comes at a price. A basic A5 notebook may set you back just 2-3 pounds but at a rrp of around 23 pounds this brings the value of this Leitz notebook into question.

So many Notebooks, so many reviews... Why do people get so excited about a notebook? This is a premium product though, it looks and feels expensive. Colleagues glance covetously at it and surely that's enough reason to have one?I use this to take notes at meetings, to sketch out ideas and even use the back perforated pages to write notes or make lists of what I need to do. The sticky strips allow me to mark up important pages which I need go back to.The elastic band means my notebook stays closed when not in use. Which is ideal because I use the sleeve in the front and back pocket to store loose paper, receipts and business cards. But what I really love about this is the pen holder.I am forever going into my bag looking for a pen but to find they have all disappeared. Now I can be sure my pen is with my notebook.I know it sounds crazy but it just feels great to hold, although it’s a hard back it feels soft. The paper quality is great too; it’s not a bright white but a subtle soft ivory, which really looks the part.I carry it around everywhere with me and at work and it’s becoming a part of my 'brand'. I use it every day of the working week and fully expect it to last a long time. I don’t think I will ever go back to any other type of notebook.

I use a lot of notebooks and so I was very happy to review this one. This is A5 in size, with a plain black cover, held in place with a wide elastic band (black with a small green strip to make it easily visible). Apart from the word Leitz imprinted on the bottom left of the front cover, this is a plain book, with a pen loop - which works, astoundingly, and is a useful addition.Opening the book up, you have a small corner pocket in the inside cover, where you can put business cards perhaps, or notes. The other page has a section for you to write your name and address, should you lose this. The back cover has a wider pocket, in which you could easily fit a passport, tickets, etc. There are also some little green sticky notes, to mark a page in the book - or any book you want to flag.As well as this, you have two ribbon markers - one green and one black. The pages are good quality, lined and with a clear line for a heading and a small side margin for scribbles. There are even a few perforated sheets at the back of the book, in case you want to tear out a piece of paper to scribble a note for someone. Everything about the book is excellent quality, as well as practically designed. A really useful, well designed notebook; perfect for work or home.

This A5 Ruled Notebook from quality German office products brand Leitz is about as good as it gets with this type of product – and that is reflected in the price, currently around eighteen pounds from Amazon. A5 is a useful size for portability, being half the size of A4, and this expensive notebook is more likely to be found in an executive's briefcase than by the telephone for note-taking. This notebook is well designed and features 160 ivory pages (eighty 100 gsm sheets in total) plus eight perforated back pages for tearing out notes. There are also two self-adhesive index tabs, plus pockets on the inside of the front and back covers for holding your loose documents. To complete the luxury look the hardback cover has a top quality feel to it and there is a pen loop, elastic closure plus two different coloured bookmarks. Although it is difficult to get over-excited about items of stationery I am actually very pleased with most products from the Leitz brand and this notebook is certainly the best product of it's type that I have used so far - this is a nicely made and practical notebook that easily deserves five stars for quality and design; better if your Company pays for it though!

I am a long-term Moleskine user, and a notebook enthusiast. I probably own more of these things than I can possible use, and an absolute sucker for 'limited edition' notebooks. But I digress. This was my first experience with Leitz product, and in short, I am not left disappointed!Features:-Measures 14.7 x 20 cm-Hard backed-Inner pocket on both front and back-Two book mark ribbons-Easy tear note cards-Pen holder loop-Band fasteningThe paper feels to be of a high quality. Writing on the pages did not produce and ink leaking to through the pages (also dependent on your pen!). The pages are all lined, but cannot be torn out. There are, however, card tear outs to take notes on or hand to other people.Like moleskin notebooks, there is pocket in the back to store bits of papers, which I have always found to be most handy. There is also a smaller pocket to the front of the notebook, too.I would definitely recommend this notebook to anyone looking for a high quality and portable method to take notes or jot down their thoughts. As with Moleskine, the price-tag is high, but you are getting a premium product and the quality speaks for itself once you hold it in your hand. 5/5

This is a very nice notebook, but it is certainly not worth the current list price of £18.I really like the Black and Green theme, its good to have 2 bookmarks, and the elastic band to keep the book together. The paper is high quality 100gsm which is higher than any other notebook paper i have ever had and it shows too. I write only with fountain pen and violet ink, and the paper took it beautifully with no bleeding and it dried pretty quickly with no smudging.I am using this as a mindfulness and meditation journal as i have ptsd, i am using the pocket at the back for my meditation cd so that i have it on me wherever i go. With regards to that pocket,i did make a small adjustment to it and i put velcro on both sides to create a fastening so that the cd didnt fall out when i had the notebook open.Overall a really beautifully presented book that you will be thrilled with, but i wouldnt pay the current price for it, if you do a quick search, you will find it on viking direct for less than a tenner exc vat, handy if you are buying for your business.

This is a very good quality A5 notebook that has a padded cover that gives a highly professional appearance. An elasticated band ensures any loose papers stay safely in place and integrated flaps at the front and back can be used to store smaller items with ease.I like the fact there are a couple of batches of page marking flags at the back so you can find any important notes quickly, particularly if combined with use of the two ribbon markers (one each of green and black). The majority of pages are fixed in place, so this is a good option for journals or notes that you want to keep long-term; pages are stitched in place so are less likely to come loose although this does mean that tearing any sheets out will weaken the positions of others in the book. There are however eight perforated sheets at the rear, segmented into three sections, that can be removed without damaging the integrity of the book.It is a very attractive, professional quality notebook that has the potential to last for years; ideal for daily jottings of a diarist, perhaps.

This is a fantastic little notebook. I always have an A5 black notebook on the go, but until now my preferred brand has been Moleskine. This Leitz notebook is substantially more expensive than the average Moleskine notebook, but it's so well-designed that I might consider buying one for myself in the future. The hardback cover looks very high-quality and does feel like leather, as advertised, whereas the pages are made of lovely paper with faint ruled lines - I prefer lines not to be too dark, so you can write on them or around them as necessary. It has a little pen holder on the side, a flap to hold additional documents at both the front and back, and - the best feature in my opinion - TWO ribbon bookmarks.I'd buy the notebook for that alone, as I so often wish that my Moleskine had an additional bookmark. My only complaint is that I personally wouldn't choose a black and green colour scheme - it's a bit Halloween. I'd prefer black and white or black and red. However, I highly recommend this notebook.

I bought this, and red and black and a sigel notebook. This was by far the most expensive being double the cost of the others. It is not really worth the extra money, the sigel paper is as good but also with page numbers, the sigel pen holder is better being wider elastic band which holds a pen firmer, and I am not keen on the bright green elements and inner cover of the leitz. The leitz has a leather looking synthetic cover which is maybe the best and about 10 page stickers inside for marking pages which may be useful although not sure yet if these are reusable; I also prefer the pages in the leitz because there is a border all round and more space on the top line for title, whereas the sigel is all consistent lines with no border. The sigel has card holders which are useful and looks more subtle and professional in black cover / elasticated bands etc and cream pages. They all have wallets front and back to hold papers. I probably prefer the sigel overall with the better pen holder and subtle colours.

This is a smart looking notebook. The cover is stitched around the edge and has a soft touch although it is a hardback cover. Inside the front cover is a flap for keeping lose paper in. Each page has a wide line, heading line at the top. The paper is quite thick and feels nice and crisp. The back 8 pages have perforations for tearing out if you wish to make a note for someone. Each page can be separated into 3 sections. Inside the rear cover is a full length flap for keeping folded document, stamps or other slim items securely. There are some matching green post-it type tabs included so that you can mark the pages. There is a metric ruler printed on the edge of the last page. There are two silky page markers, one green and one black that can be put in to keep your place. An elastic strap keeps the notebook closed and a pen loop completes it. It is all very good quality and a pleasure to use.

I love this, it looks and feels so smart and is packed with details and features that make it feel special. The cover is matt black and feels like leather, the inside cover has a small pocket, the pages are a light cream colour, lined, and smooth to write on with curved corners, and a title space at the head of each page. At the back are 10 unlined pages with perforations that can be ripped to produce little notecards. Then at the very back, there is a page with ruler markings for centimetres, another pocket and even two little pads of sticky flags/page markers !!! The detailing is all in a lovely bright grass green colour, and this extends to the black and green ribbon page marker, and the elasticated closure that holds the notebook closed. There is also an elasticated loop for securing a pen or pencil. Can't fault it in any way and love using it!

A superb notebook. Arrived just as I had finished my Moleskine favourite. However this certainly ticks all the boxes and more. It is superb quality (German) and looks leather bound with a good pen / pencil holder on the side. It contains lined A5 sheets for taking notes - thick enough to write in pen - without showing through; and then has a front part cut out wallet within the front cover and at the back has a more sturdy flap pocket for notes, receipts ... It also contains some green page markers and several of the back pages are perforated for tearing out - to write notes ... These are all practical and useful extras. It's a very well thought out note book and a very welcome addition to myoffice.Highly recommend and I'm now looking at other Leitz office stationery since the quality is so good and superior.

Love this notebook that I've now got and had loads of compliments about it! Its got nice quality paper, and also a pocket at the back so you can keep your loose documents/receipts etc in it when you're on the go! And you can mark important pages so you can find them quickly with either the removable adhesive tabs that it comes with, or the 2 ribbon bookmarks. Lastly, I'm a bit OCD and hate ripping a page out of my notebook as don't like the look of it - however, this book comes with some handy perforated notes at the back of the book that you can simply remove should you need to leave a note around the house or on a desk. All in all a great notebook - and I shall certainly be buying another one when this one is used up - I noticed they do an iPad sized one,so may try that next time.

This notebook is very smart and has good quality pages. I like the inside pockets which are handy. Having two book mark ribbons are good. My favorite feature is the elastic closure. There is nothing worse than the pages being ruined because it has opened in your bag etc or bits of paper fall out as they are not secure. The leather feel is nice but not essential. It is very pricey for what it is though. You can get comparable books for similar price if not a bit cheaper. but, you do get what you pay for. I have some cheaper books and they aren't as fancy or well put together. I think it's a matter of personal choice. I like this and probably wouldn't pay full price but if I saw a reduction,it would be on my list.
