Ok so I paid just a few pounds more for the slim profile version of this Hoya PL-CIR filter as opposed to the usual frame unit. These filters are enthusiast grade rather than the silly money professional filters but I have used this grade of filter since starting out with transparency film 35 years ago. Always a great filter to have in your kit bag for colour and monochrome work to make skies more blue and clouds with contrast. An essential item for the landscaper and perhaps for wildlife shots as well. The only downside with using these on todays MFT cameras is that the lens hoods rarely have a filter window access to rotate the filter when in situ and they can be a bit of fiddle to rotate when you have the hood in place but once you get used to this, you will get a lot of creative joy. I was using my 52mm filter with s step down ring to 46mm but I thought that now was the time to have the correct size for my front element so I could still have my bayonet fitting hood on to control lens glare. Worth every penny, well made and with a silky rotation.

Seems fine to me. No obvious problems such as grading differences or interference patterns that you might expect when looking at the pixel level on a 25MB TIFF image. A firm smooth control of rotation between the outer and inner ring. Not 4 stars as I can feel a slight 'gratiness' when putting the filter on the lens, in spite of being very careful to remove any dust on the lens screw fitting and this filter. This could make it hard to remove as I found when I must have tightened it just that bit too much. However, it still unscrewed and is the correct size as stated. Not unimportant. All in all, it does what I need at a fraction of the price of a top end professional filter.I feel a bit mean about only giving 4 stars, but I do not have a top end PL - circular filter of this size to compare it with, which might give better results, also the gratiness issue led to me slightly over tightening when first attaching the filter. My excuse is, I didn't want the inner layer to revolve while adjusting the outer revolving layer.

Good polarizer filters make a lot of difference and add an extra dimension to your photography. I use to use a lot with film cameras many years ago and wanted one for a mirrorless digital. I tried a cheaper alternative from a company I hadn't heard of before and the results were pointless. Hoya have been making filters for many years and I use to use them and I should of ordered one from them first time. Having it on my camera has made photography fun again and when shooting landscapes with big skys or coastal shots with ocean in the circular polarizer gives so much control and extra depth to my images. Highly recommend and would say always use 'proper'companies for anything going in front of your sensor.

Great filter, works well on water to remove the glare. Have tested it a couple of times. You have to ensure (for best results) that the camera is pointing to a 90 degree angle to the sun for maximum effect. Nice packaging and comes in a protective case. Can be a little fiddly to remove as it rotates but if you dont over tighten it or (like me) have a lens wrench it makes it a lot easier. Also has a front thread for adding nd filters etc.

I have used this filter for over one hundred or so shots and it delivers good results as one would expect form this make. There is no evidence of vignetting at corners but this might be difficult for me to evaluate as it is being used only on a CANON 100-400 L series telephoto zoom: is it possible that vignetting is likely with shorter lens? I cannot comment on this as I have not tried it on any other lens.

Have only used a couple of times and it does do a lovely job - blue skies and clouds that stand out! I've had no vignetting on my 24mm (35mm equivalent) lens. I think the finish on it is a little harder to clean than the pro models - hence one star knocked off - I guess you get what you pay for, but I won't be using it all that often, so this was good enough for me.

Not a lot to say about Hoya that hasn't been said before. I've always used them. The polaroid filter works well with sky \ landscape or seascape shots to give skies deep blues and avoid the washed out look on bright sunny days. I've used the filter when "rock-pooling" to take photos of the various critters that lurk in them and again the filter gives good clarity.

Filter seems to be of a high quality. Screws on and off my 62 mm lens thread with no issues. This is my first PL filter and it took a little getting used to. However I am now finding that it can make a significant difference in the right circumstances.I have also found it useful as a basic ND filter as it appears to drop the light by roughly a Stop I'd guess.

I have had better CPLs but this was good value for money, reasonably effective and fairly slim for use with shorter focal length lenses (works fine with my 16mm). Not much to grip as a result so you may need a little help to take it off and haven’t had it long enough to add much about it’s durability thou it feels reasonably well made.

Next day delivery, at first could not unscrew from adapter ring ! After wearing a groove in my thumb I found the string trick on you tube and then modified my unscrewing technique to use all five fingers spread about diameter. This works every time, using 2 just distorts the filter and the harder you grip the worse it is!

I've had all the B+W filters at double the price. This isn't quite as good, but colour casts (not terrible by any means) are quite easily rectified in Lightroom etc. The main benefit is how thin these are, and they're quite easy to clean as well, whereas others seems to require fluids to properly remove smudges etc.

Blown away by this filter, I had been using an old Jessops one until recently but I lost it so after a bit of research chose this Hoya, it has made a transformer to my photography, I have just finished photographing an automotive event and it took everything to a new level. Very impressed, thanks Hoya!

Polariser works well , but has a slight brown colour cast to it but can be fixed in editing.Got the 77mm one which is the biggest lens that I have and brought step up rings for the rest.Screw the filter on so it just bits then adjust the polarisation anti clockwise that way it will not jam on.

As polarising filters do, this really brings out the detail in the sky. Losing a stop or too is compensated by image stabilisation these days so no problems there. A little more difficult to clip the lens cap on but that is because it is, as advertised, slim. Great price too.

Good quality polarising filter for my Nikon camera, still can't decide if this is actually original or a knock off as the case it came in doesn't look an original Hoya case. Either way it does the job and one can see the difference when using this filter for his/her photos.
