I have been buying the Holztiger Animal Collection for my daughter as I think they are extremely well made, and are in fact are hand made. I was very surprised as I loved the Shark!The collection is vast, and has many animals to collect, and dinosaurs too. The animal carving/toys are expensive, but they are made of high grade wood, and each animal is unique and special.Presently I am collecting the 'animal collection' and will eventually look at the other collections.I would highly recommend Holztiger to anyone who wants to give their child a well made toy.I also prefer to purchase from Amazon, and not another sub-store, as Amazon are reliable, and packaged well.

Hand made in Germany, colored with non-toxic water-based paints/finishes and smooth with no sharp points or edges. This is a great toy and the variety of creatures that Holztiger provides makes these an excellent alternative to plastic action figures for feeding your children's imaginations when they come of age to really play with their toys. And the large ones make excellent teething toys until then!Some of the Holztiger line up is made of smaller figurines that I would be hesitant to give to a small child, but the shark and the tyrannosaurus rex are both plenty large enough for a teething child and both have been big hits with my 7 month old son.

I recently purchased a number of Holztiger marine animals for my nephews first birthday. I was really impressed with the quality of all the figures, they are beautifully designed and well worth the money. I found that the 'Blue Whale with Water Fountain', 'Seal Head Forward', 'Dolphin Jumping', 'Orca Whale Wooden Figure' and 'Shark Wooden Figure' were all a great size for this age. The 'Seahorse', 'Crab Wooden Figure' and 'Carp Wooden Figure' were all slightly too small but will be kept in a safe place until he is old enough to enjoy them!

This little guy is enormous! I thought he would be about the size of the turtle or other Holztiger figures I had seen, so I was very surprised to see a critter as long as my hand come out of the envelope. He's very cute too, and obviously hand made with great care and craftsmanship. My little shark lover was very thrilled to see him on Christmas morning.

This is currently my child's favorite toy. It goes everywhere with us. I think it's one of the nicest Holztiger animals, not as cartoony as some, with nice colors and details, but more resilient in my one year old's hands than her Ostheimer animals.
