I am new to riding clipless, and was looking for a shoe that was casual and as "normal looking" as possible. These shoes arrived the day before I was going on a 20 mile ride, so I knew I'd have to make a decision to keep them pretty quickly. As soon as I had tried them on, I knew I had found my SPD shoe. First of all, they look good...not stylish mind you, but they look like a normal shoe (think grey New Balance, etc.) The fit is like a normal sneaker, and feels really comfortable and normal to walk in even considering the stiffer cycling sole. The toe box is roomy, but the shoe feels snug and secure across the top of the foot and at the heel. So snug in fact that I found myself loosening the laces, only to lack enough lace to tie a proper bow... so the laces could be a little longer. I'm replacing the laces with a pair of reflective ones, so no biggie.Installing the cleat was easy, and I was surprised that I nailed the ideal position (for me) on the first go... clipping in and out was a breeze. One thing I noticed, I had also ordered a pair of Chrome Industries Kursk shoes and those were easier to clip out of... I found myself loosening the tension on the pedal one stop for the Giros (compared to where it was for the Chromes). The cleat is almost (but not quite) completely reassessed, so there is the slightest "click" when I walk, and on some surfaces it felt a little slippery, but nothing dangerous and eventually I barely noticed it.The shoe totally rocked the 20 mile ride, clipping in and out was easy and consistent, and my feet were comfortable all day long. No blisters, rubbing, or pinching at all. The only issue was one of the elastic bands across the tongue (for tucking in excess laces) popped off the first time I tried to use it. I hadn't pulled hard or anything, so I think the stitching must have been faulty. This wasn't a big deal at all though, and the rest of the shoe is solid.

I wanted a well made and casual cycling shoe for riding around Brooklyn. I work sometimes as a bike courier. These are easily comfortable for walking around town. They just feel like they have a stiff base which is ideal for cycling. The materiel on top breathes well which I greatly appreciate. However, these shoes are not intended to replace your running shoes. I have not yet installed clips but the attachments are easily accessible and they send clear instructions on how to install. I like that Vibram had a hand in making these shoes because I have owned many shoes by them and they tend to have longevity.A tiny tiny bit more narrow than I maybe desired when i first got them but they seem to be a little roomier after a month of use.

Wear normal 35-36. For 5.10 shoes, I always had size 35, Suplest size 36. After appropriate rating size 36 ordered. Shoe sits quite tight in the beginning, after a few times wear perfectly, exactly what I wanted. Do not like swimming around in a click shoe! Despite its small size, the forefoot is wide. This is otherwise found in hardly any brand. Good running sole, only for pushing and carrying bikes in fine gravel is the sole rather scarce profiled. All in all, my new favorite enduro shoe and buy recommendation. Use Crankbrothers cleats with a plastic pad, otherwise the cleat is too deep in the sole (you will not notice that when running).

I wear 8.5 in women's athletic shoes (asics, Adidas, etc) and the 42's in this shoe fit great: wiggle room for toes without any heal slide. (I returned the 41's as they fit on my foot, but toes were just touching the front). Out of the box, I wore around the house for about 4 hours and felt a bit of a hot spot on top of one foot: that was fixed by simply loosening the laces a bit on that side. The next morning I did 40 road miles and shoes felt great the entire time. My feet are on the narrow side, and these do seem to run narrow. They look great, appear to be quite well made, and feel light and breathable.

These shoes are cool looking, at least in the world of cycling shoes! I bought them for my spin classes (only) and love that I can walk through the gym without wobbling around. I am a size 7.5-8 in most shoes. I bought the size 40 and found they are a bit snug...not enough to return, but they seem to be more narrow in the toe box and top of the foot. They are harder, which seems the norm, so I will need to add softer insoles. These are my first cycling shoes, so I am admittedly naive, but I can see myself being happy with these for class for several hundred miles :)

I'm a size 6.5 (sometimes 7) UK and got a 41 which fits perfectly - make sure you use the Giro sizing guide and then get something approx 1/2 a size bigger;http://www.giro.com/giro/fitguide/shoes/GIRO_shoe_size_charts_8_10.pdfReally good looking 'normal' sized shoe (some of the touring shoes have massively thick soles, these look just like normal trainers), very comfortable on and off the bike (so much so I'm not planning on taking another pair of shoes on a 6wk cycle tour), and company are excellent for customer service (quick replies, very helpful)

I couldn't find anything on the box stating these were a specific width, but they were noticeably narrow, too narrow to use, so unfortunately had to return them. Could this be why BackCountry has them priced so low - can't say.Ok, so I reordered these in one full size larger and they fit fine. Love the fact that I was able to get a stylish and functional shoe for a 3rd of original MSRP so increasing from 2 to 4 stars. Will try to update once I mount cleats and use on a ride.

Great cycling shoes! Doesn't even need clips and has plenty of support. I already have clip on cycling shoes but the spin bike we got on OfferUp unfortunately came with clipless pedals. Well I'm a spin Instructor and I ride hard with lots of jumps so I needed a good cycling support shoes with very solid soles. These look like hiking shoes but does the job! I ride hard following along to Peloton and Les Mills Ondemand. I just wish it was slightly more attractive to look at.

Clips in and out perfectly and they are still pretty stylish. I like that they look like normal shoes and you can walk around in them without feeling the clips. I have wide feet, so they are a bit tight for me, but I knew that when I bought them. I just wish they had a wide version. I got caught in heavy rain with them and let them dry in the sun and after that they actually loosened up a bit. Overall very comfortable, functional, stylish shoe for a great price.

I bought regular cycling shoes, but I get on and off my bike quite a bit, with some walking, so they just did not fit the bill. These, however, are perfect for riding and walking around. There is enough traction that you aren't slipping as you try to walk. I would not recommend these for century rides, unless you plan on taking a few waling breaks, but for weekend rides, and shorter distances fondos, these are perfect. I normally ride 30 miles or less at a time.

Giro mele was surprising out of the box comfort unlike other bike/tri shoes I have tried on. Simple easy closure easy to get in and out of fast. Breathable mesh upper and venting was good. I ended up returning however because the velcro gave me hotspots and I went with a boa closure/different shoe to avoid this issue. I would recommend if you're looking for a great shoe at a steal price!

I really wanted spin shoes that didn't look like spin shoes; not really sure why, but hey. I ordered these after searching high and low. I ordered a size up based on reviews, and they fit well...you definitely need to go up half or even a whole size, hence the 4 star rating. It was pretty easy to put the cleats on too--note they do NOT come with cleats, you buy those separately.

Super cute for a bike shoe, I bought them for my ride to school as I wanted something that was less performance based than my other ones, these are great, and the cleat is recessed enough that I don't sound like a horse when I'm walking around. They're stiff which is great for cycling, not so great for walking around. Glad to see something casual and stylish on the market!

Snug fit, as I expected. I wear 6.5-7. Ordered the equivalent of 6.5. I take off the inner sole when I want to wear double layers of socks. Put the sole back in for warm days and thin socks. I should add: I had a bad flat last week, had to leave the bike and run 5 miles home. Took off the clips and the shoes were fine to run the distance. No injuries, no foot/leg pain.

Great quality shoe, compatible with SPD clips that I bought and fashionable. I followed the sizing guide on Giro's website and it fit perfectly. 41 for a size 9 in women's. Clips in photo purchased separately.Unfortunately once the clip is installed it isn't recessed enough to use as a normal shoe, but the cleated outsole does make it a versatile non-slip shoe.
