Gelert Atlantis 4 tentOur requirementsThis is a nice large tent. We do a lot of re-enactment and needed a tent that would allow 3 of us to live and store our kit in. This tent had the right measurements for us. Also being a tall tent we could get changed in the front part standing up which makes life a lot easier for us.The tentThe first one we had leaked very badly as a seam on the entrance part was not finished. The rain was quite heavy but we had to abandon the tent. We contacted Amazon who replaced it with a new one very quickly as we were on the road and needed a working and dry tent quickly. The second tentThis one was finished much better, all the seam were double sewn and had much more overlap.Over the summer this tent has been our home and it has stood up well.Setting upThis tent is so easy to put up. Just lay the tent on the ground, push the poles through and that’s about it except for pegging out the guy ropes. With two of us it takes around 54 to 10 minutes to put the tent up. We have set this tent up and taken it down around 27 times in the space of two months.SurvivabilityThe tent is very stable even in very strong winds and we have never had to take any measures to reinforce it in any way. On one site with gale force winds we were still up and comfortable while others were chasing their tents around the campsite. After a summer of hard use everything still works and nothing has torn or broken. The tent has been exposed to several really heavy showers and everything has remained dry.Sleeping areaThis is well designed and double skinned to stop condensation and bugs getting in. It held 3 of us on camp beds comfortably but I think 4 adults would have been a big friendly squeeze. You can divide the sleeping area into two compartments if you wish.Front sectionThis is about the same size as the bedroom compartment and has two doors into it – one large at the front and a smaller one at the side. Getting in and out of the tent was easy considering we were dressed in medieval and Victorian costumes during the events. The zips are of good quality and strong and the zips have a storm flap to stop rain getting in.Ground sheetThis is sewn in and provides good insulation and protection. We did buy the under sheet as this provides a template to set the tent up with and better insulation. For a future designGelert need to address the side doors fixing. Wind tents to blow under it and it allows bugs in. Did not bother us but I think a better fastening design of the door bottoms would make this tent much better.OverallDespite the first tent being a bit of a disappointment due to a quality control issue the second tent was excellent and faired very well through a summer of re-enactment and variable weather. The poles, fabric and overall quality is good and seems to take quite a lot of abuse so I would say it’s a tough tent and well made. I am very happy with this tent but I will only give it four starts because of the issues with the first one and the side door needs some design work to make it better.

Three outings and the key things I'd like to mention are:-Light enough to lift on your own out of the car and carry along to where you need to pitch the tent without assistance. If you need to be quick it takes 15-20 mins to put up and tidy up the guy ropes, all without your friends & family looking elsewhere in complete shame at your efforts. I have a Grade 3 CSE in Woodwork and despite obvious intellectual difficulties quite able to suss out where it all goes.Had three outings with no signs of wear and tear at all. Particularly like the sleeping section with plenty of area at the front for storage, changing and so on (I'm 6ft). No leaks, no strain at the seams and robust in high wind (Tent not me).Handy windows to let the light in and very easy to vent the tent should you be lucky enough to go camping in temperatures above freezing.......I cant see how 4 people would sleep in it without killing each other unless they are national hunt jockeys. Personally, we use it for two adults with a king size'ish air bed, enough for two of us and the English Pointer to be comfy. Finally, really easy to pack away, no more than 10-15 mins if you are in a hurry.Previously owned a Coleman product which was well built but i gave it away after 4 tries due to poor instructions, heavy and tedious unpacking / packing complexity. The Gelert is much much better to live with by comparisonUpdate: 36 hours of solid rain and both the fabric and the seams succumbed to the weather. Not too annoyed as it was incessant rain but it did bring up two issues:1/ Really have to be careful how you open the door as rain channels straight in and you MUST remember to lift the flap over the groundsheet or you will get litres of water in a very short space of time2/ The fabric of the doors became sodden, I dont know if it was different fabric or treatment but they gave up the ghost very early.Taken a star off as awkward to get in and out without a lot of water getting into tent. I cant imagine many fabrics would have coped though so only the design an issue.

Firstly, for some bizarre reason the brownish colour variation and blue colour variation of this tent are really, really cheap here on Amazon - Gelert's own site is selling all colour variations of this tent for £250! So the price here is a total bargain. This tent is huge. It's be very luxurious for two people, while I'd say that three adults is probably the maximum comfortable capacity for the sleeping compartment. Even though it's essentially a double skinned tent, it pitches all-in-one due to the fact that the inner tent is stitched to the outer, so pitching this tent is a piece of cake (and the design creates a good gap between the inner and outer layers, which is important in case it rains). It took me about 20 minutes to pitch it on my own, whereas it'd probably be a little quicker with two people (particularly when it comes to inserting the poles and pegging everything down). Ventilation is good and I like the fact that it has two doors - front and side. One minor niggle, however, is that for some reason those main doors only zip down along their sides, while the bottoms are just toggled. This will allow bugs to crawl into the "living room" part of the tent. However, that's not really a huge issue, as the sleeping compartment is totally sealed, which is the most important thing. One other minor niggle is that the guy ropes are a dark colour; personally I prefer neon colours as you're less likely to accidentally trip over them, both during the day as well as at night. But replacing the guy ropes will be pretty easy.In addition to the tent I also bought the matching footprint groundsheet, to avoid having to roll up a big damp tent after camping. The groundsheet also provides a handy guide for where everything should be when pitching.Lastly, the bag that the tent comes in is unusually spacious for a tent bag; packing the tent back in, a nightmare for most tents, is no problem at all. In fact, I was able to fit the footprint groundsheet in it as well, and there's still room to spare.

I bought this tent ready for my forthcoming camping holiday, and after a practise run in the garden i can honestly say this is the best tent i have owned. The "canvas" is of a high quality and unlike other tents i have owned the sewn in ground sheet has a high lip on both doors and the one on the main door can be extended up to about 6 inches high which meant despite a weekend of heavy rain and wind further inspection the morning after revealed no leaks and no bugs at all...v impressed!.The bedroom is good and large although i feel it may be a squeeze for 4 adults, it is of a good quality and is sewn in so no fiddly toggles to worry about and a separating curtain can be attatched to divide itinto 2.There are a couple of useful features such as a small 2 inch zip to allow electric hook up without any draughts/bugs getting in, there is also a place to hang a lantern and some velcro straps going up the side of the bedroom which must be for securing the electric hook up cable off the floor, the bedroom also features several pockets for storage.Downsides? well so far the only real gripe (and it is a v small one) is the windows are not the biggest so it is a little dark inside, but other than that all i'd say is shop around as i have seen this tent priced at £199 yet i bought mine brand new for £89.In summary...buy it you won't be dissappointed!

Just used this tent for the first time at Sonisphere (Knebworth, UK). The bedroom area is huge, fitted a double airbed, as well as our bags, & plenty of space all around the edges. I am 6' 2" & it was fine for me. I couldn't stand up tall in the bedroom area, but I only had to hang my head - amazing compared to most tents. The bedroom area can be separated into 2 separate bedrooms with a spare piece of material that can be hooked up quite easily (although we didn't bother as we preferred the single large area). There is no mention of this in the instructions, so this is what the spare bit is for!The living area is even taller - I could stand up straight. Masses of room for storage, sitting about, etc. The zips & seams are all strong - no sign of problems. The tent stayed completely dry inside - and it was raining very hard for times. Coped fine with quite strong winds too.Easy to put up as the inner tent is attached already, so literally just thread the poles through the loops, & then peg the guy ropes etc. Don't make the same mistake we initially did - do not pull the poles as far apart as possible, as this then makes zipping up the doors difficult - there should be a natural curve inward for the poles, the tent remains taut, but zips fine.Fabulous tent - fabulous value for money - no hesitation - get this tent !!

After looking at several - well many - reviews decided on this tent to replace old misshapen mess that we bought back in the bronze age. We are only occasional campers, so seemed ideal for price. Tested it out at Dalby Forest couple of weekends ago and have no complaints, (so far, bearing in mind we haven't had it up in the rain yet - hence the 4 stars). Most things other people said were correct - very easy & quick to put up, goes back in the bag very easily. No wind but it seemed very sturdy & well put together despite strange noises when putting it up (we think it was some velcro snapping open there was no damage). Oh, and after the mess of the last tent, the inbuilt ground sheet was like luxury, and no faffing about putting up the bedroom(s).So.. we are very pleased so far, ideal for two plus the dog and all our stuff, and if it does let a bit of water in when it rains, I'm sure some sealant will sort it out and still make the tent good value for our money.

I bought this tent with the intention of it sleeping 2 people and using the extra space as a storage area. I camp regulary. The instructions are easy to follow to put the tent up. I put this up single handed and found that common sense prevailed - I am a single woman so no strenght is needed. On your own obviously it takes a little longer but was still up within 30 mins.It has a sewn in ground sheet and the bedrooms are already attached. This is the only problem with the tent as there only a hanging curtain to seperate the rooms instead of a zip up curtain. The space inside the tent is good. I had a double air mattress in 1 of the bedrooms and the dining table and all our clothes etc in the other bedroom. In the living space I had the chairs and the camping stove. We had rain so everything had to be inside. The tent was very dry inside and everything is sealed.I can't wait to the tent again and would def recommend it to others.

While other tents were being blown away at this years Isle of Wight festival ours was holding its own. The built in groundsheet and inner tent was a godsend too, and there was none of the usual "sail effect" in the outer layer as we put it up in some high winds. We suffered very, very strong winds, thick mud being sploshed up the sides, and about 12 hours of solid rain all in our first weekend use. The tent remained dry and inside throughout the weekend (bar the mud we walked in) and it being tall enough to stand up in (for me anyway) meant that while we were stuck inside it was very comfortable, even roomy!I'd say the tent would be very snug for 4 people (as is the way with most tents, IMO)but for 2 of us it was luxury! It has a few nice little features particularly the ability to clip the edge of groundsheet, by the door, about 20cm off the ground preventing rain/mud etc from working it's way in at the exposed edge.

Having read mixed reviews I bought with a little trepidation, but I needn't have. Tent was put up quickly by myself and my 13 year old son in a relative short space of time. The tip is to feed the supporting rods through the tent rather than try and push or pull them as the material bunches quiet easily and is then a pain to untangle.Tent stood up to the inclement weather over the August bank holiday with not leaks noted and was easy to take down and fit back in the bag, again a tip here is to do it with the interior and exterior doors open as this stops air getting trapped and therefore makes it easier fold up small. All In all a good purchase, sleeping room may be at a premium for 4 people if you all use inflatable mattresses but otherwise masses of room. Being able to stand up in the whole tent 5ft 9" was great and removed the stranded caterpillar shuffle first thing in the morning when getting dressed.

We bought this tent with the purpose of using it for our bike rally in Belgium recently. It was very easy to set up and was light weight enough to go on the back of the bike. On the Saturday morning we woken up about 6h30 from high wind combined with a torrential rain down pour....lying there waiting for the tent to start leaking must have looked funny. There was a very fine mist from the outer skin of the tent but the inner tent stayed completely dry. It rained for approx 30 minutes and all the gear stayed dry. During the day it was on and off rain but still dry! Some of the other tents around us experienced flooding....Would definitely recommend this tent for use as 2 man, with storage space, don't think it is a four man tent, well yes if you sleep in everything you wear and have nothing extra....... it is not big enough for 4.... - 3 people maybe.

I bought this tent in spring 2010 and so far it's had 2 outings. On both occasions it poured with rain, but we stayed warm and dry. It's relatively easy to put up (even for a novice camper like me) and I have done it on my own, but it is easier with two people. It's described as a 4 man, but I think that's a bit ambitious. In my case (1 adult and 1 child) it's very roomy and would easily sleep another adult, but after that it would be a squash. I also purchased the matching ground sheet, which protects the bottom of the tent from dirt and damp (very useful when packing it away after a rainy weekend) and gives you a guide for erecting the tent, well worth the money Gelert Atlantis 4 Footprint Groundsheet - Dark Grey.Overall, I would recommend this tent for 2 or 3 people, but shop around as prices vary alot..

I bought this tent in September last year after using a Gelert Quick pitch DS 2 man tent that was like a coffin (though a great quality one), I just wanted some extra room when I went surfing with mates from work. On arrival at CROYDE this June it poured it down as I was setting up - but because of the all in one pitch it remained relatively dry. Once up and in more torrential driving rain all was fine apart from the only to be expected couple of drips from the side door, this is my only disappointment , that the doors should be fully zipped instead of just the sides!! The front door is OK as it has a large lip from the groundsheet - though the side one doesn't have such a high lip and thereforerain and wind are more of a problem.Overall a great tent - though possibly a stretch for 4 adults!!

I bought an Atlantis 4 late last year, and have used it for 5 festivals this summer. It's still almost as new. I love this tent! A pal has one and when I saw the single large sleeping pod, knew it would be far better than my smaller 2 pod 4-berth. I can stand up no problem, the pod takes my large double height inflatable mattress quite comfortably with plenty of spare room. After the first couple of goes putting it up/taking down, I can now do it singlehandedly in less than 1/2 hour. Though mostly rain free there have been a couple of torrential downpours one weekend, and it's withstood long lasting gales that same weekend with no problem at all. Am SO glad I bought it.

This Tent arrived in great time from the seller and was complete and in perfect condition. I have only used the tent once so far but am looking forward to using it again soon. We placed our double mattress in the compartment and there was plenty of space around the sides for bags etc. The porch area was great as well, loads of space for chairs and a table, and it was really nice being able to stand up inside. I also purchased the matching groundsheet which made for a quick exit as the bottom of tent was not wet, but not a necessity. Great tent at Fab Price, would recommend for 2 people but 4 might be a bit of a squeeze.

Excellent tent, easy to assemble! My boyfriend and I finally got round to using the tent this weekend in the Lake District! Was assembled within minutes and we were impressed with the size! My boyfriend is 6ft 2 and was pleased to have a tent that he had a bit more room in! Would recommend this to anyone and a good feature is that it is all sealed to create one lining! Only problem would be that I'm not sure 4 could squeeze in but very comfortable for 2 or 3!!One downside is that we want to buy the extra awning part but they've stopped doing them in the peppercorn colour that matches the tent! Can't find one anywhere!
