Just used this tent for the first time this weekend and can say it has performed brilliantly! With two of us, it took about 20 minutes to erect fully, the inner tent was a doddle to clip into place and I have noticed that there is a small loop in the centre of the tent where you can hang a lantern for a little light of a night. As others have said, you would have to be on very good terms with your fellow campers if you were to use this as a four man tent, I purchased this for me and 'she who must be obeyed' and as a two man tent this is great, leaving you with plenty of room for all your kit that you want to to keep close at hand.Whilst camping we had a good downpour and whilst I take on board what others have said about rain falling onto the porch groundsheet, I found this not to be a problem - all I did was to make sure that the fly was about half inch further out than the ground sheet and everything stayed nice and dry. One thing that was a bit of a problem was when opening the front entrance it would swing inwards into the porch area and deposit water onto the groundsheet. This might not be a problem with the side entrance, I have yet to try this yet. Lying 'front to back' in the tent as designed I found that the slope of the inner tent was quite intrusive, although I didn't try it the tent it looks like it might be more accommodating if you were to sleep 'across' the tent. Overall I am really chuffed with this tent and found it fairly straightforward to pack away.Definately a recommended buy as I have found all the Gelert stuff I have bought (daysack, mess kit and coat) to be top notch stuff.

I chose this item as I wanted a small tent I could just throw in the boot of my car and go away with.It arrived in its small carry bag and everything was in tip top condition.I used the tent for the first time and it was very easy to erect. It took one person apx 15 mins to do.( first tent I've ever put up.)There was just two of us staying in the tent so there was plenty of room for us and our Stuff. The porch area isn't so big so I wouldn't say it was good for more than a couple of people as there wouldn't be anywhere to put your things. We had a very heavy down pour and high winds the first night and the tent stood its ground. The only downside I can see is the attached ground sheet to the porch area,as it doesn't have a lip to it, when it rains the water does come in. We fixed this problem the second night by clipping the ground to the inside of the tent just lifting it off the floor. All in all it's a great tent for the novice.Oh and I managed to pack it back in to its little bag when we left. (now there's a first)

Used this to travel to Florence - 3 nights up and 3 nights back. It rained really heavily in Amsterdam but only a few drops of water managed to penetrate through. The only criticisms were that the front floor flap needed to be pegged up to stop it flooding and you needed to be fairly strong to be able to insert the poles into the appropriate pockets.Once you are used to erecting the tent it can be errected very quickly and the inner tent is put up easily after the outer tent has been erected thus if is is raining you are able to keep dry whilst doing this.Had a four man tent although there were only two of us travelling which meant that there was plenty of room for other items eg overnight bag etc.and to sit and have a meal.I would suggest buying the next size up if there are four of you using it as I can imagine it would be a bit of a squash. There was very little condensation whilst in use.I am really pleased with this tent and would certainly recommend it. Very good value for the price.

This is the second Tornado 4 we have bought, had the first one 2 years and although still serviceable was getting a bit tired. It's really easy to erect and reasonably lightweight to carry. We carry it on our motorcycle on a front rack. It would be uncomfortably cosy for 4 people unless you are really good friends, but ideal for 2. we have a double air bed and find there is ample room inside for our stuff and plenty of room in the outer porch, even for cooking and eating when the weather is bad. It is really good in high winds, but you do need to peg it down with all the guy ropes. One tip to help erecting is to leave the inner tent still clipped in as you can put it up in about 10 minutes this way with 2 of you. Also when packing place the pole bag on the folded tent to act as a width guide and roll it tight to fit in the bag. 10/10

Me and my wife used this tent for the first time this Easter weekend whilst camping in the Lakes. It did exactly as it says on the tin so to speak. We had an inflatable double air bed in the sleeping compartment which fit quite easily with room for our bags too. The other compartment/porch was quite roomy too.It only takes 10-15 minutes to erect the tent and thats coming from a complete novice to its easy to follow the simple instructions. It rained one of the nights and the water stayed out so it remained waterproof. This is a high quality tent for the occasional user however if you intend of camping frequently for several nights at a time you may wish to consider a tent where you can standup in.

Received tent in good time and, as novice campers, had to work out what all the 'bits' were. Once we understood where all the bits went we were able to erect the tent (on a practice run in the back garden)in about 15 minutes. Once erected we soaked the outside of the tent with the garden hose and all seams were watertight. So far we're very pleased with the tent. Have yet to try it out on a campsite.Very lightweight and easy to pack away.

This is a great tent for weekend camping. Easy to erect(about 20 minutes). It withstood gale force winds, and rain on our first novice camping expedition to Devon. The only downfall is the living quarters are not very big. There is ample sleeping room for 2 people, but definitely not 4. Overall a good quality tent for the money.

First time I used it was in the rain, and didn't have any problems. With 4 adults, it would be a little cosy, but is a confortable size for 3. The porch at the front has plenty of room for leaving wet shoes and the overal quality feels very good.

V Easy to erect and put away. Because you put the outer skin first, you can keep the sleeping area dry in any weather. Weather proof. Two 50 yr olds on air beds. Super for 2 not 4 people.
