Despite the many negative reviews I still find this tool for accessing the Oxford Thesaurus very valuable. I have been using it for several years first on XP and now on Windows 7. I had no problem using it on XP, it required a small amount of configuration, to tailor its behaviour to suit my requirements. I used it in undocked mode and with double-click enabled, when double clicking a word within an editor the iFinger would immediately pop-up with the full article from the thesaurus, provided the word was in the thesaurus of course. On Windows 7 it is less easy to use, some of the features do not work. The worst problem is that double clicking no longer works,it can be switched on or off in the configuration with seemingly no effect. This means that the small pop-up iFinger window has to be opened from the task bar icon, which is fine, but the window does not stay, every time one clicks away from it the window closes and one has to click the icon in the task bar to reopen it. One can get it to stay open by typing in a word and successfully searching, followed by opening the article fully and clicking on the Keep Article Open box at the left bottom corner. This will keep the window open, but if one types in another word and fails to click on Keep Window Open again then the window will disappear again when one moves the mouse focus elsewhere. It is a nuisance but one gets used to it and the easy access to the full Oxford Thesarus is an immense boon when writing, far better than stopping to open the unwieldy printed book. The articles when opened fully are identical to those in the printed Oxford Thesaurus of English, it is puzzling that people complain the information is not there. It is sad that the iFinger interface has not been updated to be fully functional within the newer Windows systems. There seems to be no up to date product on the market that offers a thesaurus in an easily accessible and useable form. Online thesauri are not as easy to use and are of no value when there is no internet access.I would advise against installing this product on Windows 10, I tried it on my netbook and it made the system unstable. File explorer no longer worked. Uninstalling iFinger returned the system back to normal. Relieved yet one more time that I did not take the free upgrade to Windows 10 on my desktop computer.

This is a must for the ambitious writer who cannot find a satisfactory word for what they are expressing. The depth of it exceeds the bog standard thesaurus which is usually supplied with most wordprocessing applications. It is a no frills reliable tool that can be used equally well online. If you are thinking of a pressie for any budding writers that you know, well this is an inexpessive gift which will be appreciated
