My children love bath time and more importantly love playing with bath toys in the bath. The Spray-n-Lights Whale bath toy from Fisher Price is a good bath toy and my little ones are really enjoying playing with it. The Whale is blue and has a plastic water spurt coming out of his head on the top which you press to turn the Whale on and off. The water spurt lights up and when in the bath shoots out water in a fountain effect which is very similar to another bath toy (a starfish that shot out a water fountain) my children have. The Whale also comes with a see through ball that has a spinning fish inside and my children love trying to balance the ball on top of the Whales fountain (it doesn't stay on though as the water shoots it off).It does say on the box that the fish ball can be balanced on the Whales tail as this encourages fine motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination but my children like trying to balance the ball in the water fountain. The Whale takes 3 AA batteries and contrary to other reviews I found the battery compartment okay to undo although it was a little stiff. You will need a Philips/Posidrive/Crosshead screwdriver to open the compartment and it is a little stiff taking it off as it has a rubberised surround to prevent water from getting into the compartment. So far the Whale is working perfectly however I note other reviewers saying theirs stopped working after a few weeks and so I shall definitely update my review if mine stops working, therefore if there is no update on my review you can take it that the toy is still working fine.A nice bath toy that my two little ones really like and love to put their hands in the water fountain when the toy is turned on.

This product has had some really negative reviews, mainly focusing on the fact that water has gotten into the battery compartment and corroded the batteries, stopping the whale working. Being mindful of this, we made sure the screws were done up really tight and have dried our whale out after each bath by leaving it to dry on the radiator. 2 weeks in and there is no sign of corrosion inside, but if this does occur in the future, I will update this review. In terms of play value, this toy is great fun. The whale is quite heavy so may be tricky for little ones to pick up but our toddler has no problems. When the top is pressed the whale squirts out water and the blue watery design on the top lights up for about 30 seconds. The water squirts gently enough to be fun even for tiny babies, but was still very entertaining for us. There is a little ball supplied, which can be balanced on the whale's tail. I am a little disappointed that this doesn't stay up in the squirting water, although it doesn't claim that it will so I guess I shouldn't feel this way. The light up feature has proved particularly popular when we had a baths in the dark ( lots of light up bath toys and glow sticks) tonight. This toy isn't the most amazing thing ever, but it is a bit different and I can imagine that particularly for younger babies, that it would bring a lot of enjoyment, as well as teaching the swimming skill of being happy to be splashed.

I'd like to say this is for me..... but in reality my two grandchildren have enjoyed this much more.So what we have here is a typically well made Fisher Price toy that's great fun for small children at bath time. Like all small children, my grandkids simply love the bath and anything that adds to the fun is fine by me. This toy does.To be honest all it actually does is squirt water in a short (120mm) fountain from the top. But that's enough to provide a bit of fun. What it does not do is move the ball shown on the picture which stupidly I thought it might. Of course to do that it would have to really pump some water and if it did, your bathroom would very quickly end up soaked. The ball is actually meant to be balanced on the tail of the whale and I assume that this is to help a child's motor skills.Negatives? Well, it's quite heavy and if swung by an enthusiastic child could clonk someone a good'un. I don't know how long the pump would run before the seal wore out if not submerged in water. The battery compartment where the batteries are fitted is quite tough to open because of the seal which if damaged would end up leaking and therefore needs to be treated with respect.Overall though, a nice to have toy for small children at bathtime.

Our son loves his baths and currently has ducks and boats to play with. He likes to put his hand through running water to try and "catch" it!You cannot use the whale without batteries (3 x AA) as it is the weight of the batteries that keeps it immersed in water. The battery compartment cover was a bit stiff to undo but I am hoping that it means that it will be water-tight, or near on water-tight.There is a plastic thing on the whale blow hole which I think is meant to look like water spurting out, this is your on/off switch and the ball sits on top - when immersed in water, the water comes though the top and in theory the ball (which has a spinning fish inside it) would rest on the water, although in reality it doesn't stay there for long! My son is fascinated by this (its certainly the biggest bath toy he has had - and it definitely wouldn't fit in a baby bath!) and loves trying to grab the ball (admittedly so he can try and eat it!)I note that some people have had issued with corroded batteries; I am going to keep the whale in the airing cupboard between bathtimes to hopefully dry it out if there is any lingering dampness, and will of course revisit this review if the product stops working.

This is a simple but very effective bath toy. This is the second that we have had in three years. The first was exactly the same and our little guy loved it. The batteries lasted ages and provided many happy bath times. The gentle spray from the whale's blow hole is brilliant! The top lights up and sprays when pressed and the spray goes on for a few seconds before turning itself off or you can press again and turn it off your self. The little plastic ball toy that is included seems a little pointless though. We have found both our children loved it and it got them used to a little water being splashed on their face too.The only reason I marked it down a star is that after trying to replace the batteries in the first whale it never quite worked right again but provided so much fun first time around we were happy to give another a chance.

This is a lovely little bath toy and our 14 months old loves it. Firstly don't be put off by the packaging ! There is no demo mode so this looks a bit boring but it really isn't ! When in the bath the blow hole lights up and gently pushes off the spinning ball (which also can sit on the tail). It is really cute and our little girl is transfixed by it. Make sure you use good batteries as we didn't the first time and it cut out quickly. Strongly recommended.

Quite a fun bath toy this that has gone down well with the kids at bath-time which is the main thing. It lights up nicely and the water squirts out okay from the blow-hole but don't expect big tricks to happen with the ball though, as that's mainly meant to balance on the tail when played with. It's a very tactile, well made toy though as you'd expect from Fisher-Price and it floats nicely too [as long as you've put batteries in!]. Well worth a look.

Endless fun. Great quality. It's always funny to watch as the wee one tries to catch the water coming out :)
