I've been mulling over what to write about this Cressi Duke full face mask. To start, I have concerns over full face masks. In Hawaii, there is an investigation into whether full face masks are more dangerous than traditional masks and snorkels, and a number of tour companies have banned their use.But Cressi is a bonafide dive equipment company. I own... I don't know, 10 Cressi masks? Maybe it is time for me to see what the issue is all about. So... I gave this full face mask a chance to prove itself. By the way, I'm a diver and previously a lifeguard.First, the dry snorkel needs to be connected to the mask. Easily done, but I noted that there was an extra "O" ring included.I guess the "O" ring can be lost when the snorkel comes on and off except... I can't get the thing off! I don't want to break it, but I can't figure out how to disconnect the snorkel when you want to pack it away. Somebody help me!Okay, I put it on, got in a pool, and swam to the end and back. I found myself breathing through my nose (you don't do this with a traditional mask and snorkel). The visibility was fantastic! I can see the attractiveness of this type of mask for snorkeling over a reef. The fit was comfortable, although I kept expecting it to leak. I could see a bit of water getting inside, but the purge valves pushed it out.Next, I swam 500 yards (20 lengths, or 10 laps). Observations: I knew I wasn't going to do any flip turns, but I was surprised that pushing off the side of the pool with any force was a no-no. You needed to be gentle with your face entering the water, and make sure your head stayed above the water. If not, you really felt the pressure push on the mask. I tried to dive a little bit, and it is hard... there is both the extra surface area and the air that is in the face mask. I have to note that the instructions explicitly warn against free diving. Swimming a 500 gets you breathing, and I was huffing with my mouth and nose. No fogging.I only had the dry snorkel close off once when I was swimming (I was turning my head back and forth to look around). There was a new experience. I am very used to using a traditional Cressi mask and dry snorkel, breathing through my mouth, and having the snorkel close off temporarily. But this time the snorkel closed off when I was breathing through my nose, not my mouth. That is a different experience, and gets your attention. There are two straps that hold the mask securely against your head. I think anyone using this mask should practice taking it off and putting it on a few times before going in the water. Divers are taught not to relax with their mask on their foreheads, one reason being that it is a possible sign of distress (if you have an issue, you automatically want to push the mask off). You can't do that with a full face mask... it is not designed to be pushed up and off, but rather down and off.Actually, the biggest negative thing for me is the actual bulk of a full-face mask, and the limitations... no free-diving.

Cressi Duke Snorkeling Mask Full Face AdultI was a sports diver for many years so I was quite keen to check this full face mask out when it was offered to me. Cressi in my day was a big name in the diving industry, they used to be known a Cressi Sub. They had a well respected name for providing quality diving gear. I was keen to find out if this was still the case. When this arrived I was pleased to find that it has it's own zip up carry bag for keeping the mask safe. The carry case is made from a soft plastic canvas look material, the front of the case has a transparent window.Once removed from the carry bag the mask is supplied in 2 parts, the mask itself plus a clip on snorkel. The mask is made from a large moulded clear plastic body, with the outer edges being moulded into a red plastic framework. On the rear interior is a full clear silicon face seal. The large head strap is made from thick stretchy elasticated woven material, this has a good deal of stretch to it, there is also ample adjustment. The webbing is X shaped so it holds the mask securely to the face. On the front near the mouth is a single outlet valve which houses a soft silicon parachute valve. The snorkel comes as a separate item, it slides over a rubber o-ring and clips into place. To keep unwanted water out of the snorkel and mask, there is a float which slides up and down the tube to block water from entering. This type of float was frowned upon in my days of diving, but this is not meant for sub aqua diving. This mask is aimed more towards snorkelling, it should be safe to use provided the user is well versed on how to clear the mask of water if the valve should become stuck and the mask should flood. This is unlikely if the mask is well maintained and washed thoroughly after use.Normally it would be a priority to use tempered glass for a dive mask, this is not tempered glass, it is plastic so again it will probably be of no use for sub aqua diving. Plastic can soon scratch up and become foggy if abused, especially where sand and salt are present. For snorkelling this will probably do a great job as it will give good vision along with a more natural way of breathing. Ideal for those that have never used a snorkel or valve before.Contents -1 x Full face mask1 x Detachable snorkel1 x Spare o-ring1 x Spare valve1 x User guideIf you have found my review at all helpful I would very much appreciate if you could click the 'Helpful' button below, thank you.

I got this Cressi Adult Snorkeling Full Face Mask for my oldest son (14) who loves swimming in pools and swimming holes and being able to see underwater. I also was interested in trying this out for myself. This fits his face perfectly after we adjusted it appropriately. We found that you have to get it adjusted just right for your particular face/head, otherwise you may start getting small leaks and fogging. Make sure you have it snugly fitted (not too tight, obviously). There’s a sweet spot, here - too tight, and you’ll have discomfort...too loose (even though it may not feel loose) and you won’t get a proper seal.Once you hit just the right adjustment, you’ll know. It does not fog up easily, nor does he experience leaks, while swimming around with this, even for extended periods of time. Once I got it adjusted on my head to test out for myself, I also did not experience them, either. I like how clearly you can see everything, and it feels like you get a bigger "viewing area" with this as opposed to standard snorkels.Being as this is a full-face mask, this takes a little getting used to and tweaking in different ways than a normal snorkel mask. Once you get it right, however, it’s actually pretty freeing to swim around and not have something dangling/moving from the side, as it's all just one big piece.I like that this has a flap to keep water from getting into the spout during dives and such, and we found it easier to breathe in while swimming around than a standard snorkel. Strangely enough, it feels more natural to breathe in than your standard ones, even though it looks like it would be way more awkward.I thought this would be more uncomfortable than our regular snorkel, but it actually wasn’t bad and actually felt more secure and sturdy on my face than I thought it would. My son also said he felt the same way. In fact, it didn’t have the annoyances I would experience with a regular one, so to me, this is more comfortable than others I’ve used.Overall, this is a great quality and very sturdy full-face snorkeling mask that really works great - just make sure you are getting it fitted correctly on your face and take a little time to adjust it just right. Once you do, you won’t be disappointed, but it may take a few tries. Happy snorkeling!

I was always reluctant to try these full face snorkel masks. After decades of enjoying undersea life with standard masks, I felt these were either a gimmick or mostly for kids. I didn't want to look weird as the only adult wearing one of these on the beach. I also didn't think they'd form a good seal due to my large head and face. Well, I was wrong on every count. Granted, I haven't had an opportunity to try this mask in open water yet because I'm done vacationing for the summer of 2019. I did try it in the pool and it works much better than I expected. First the fit. It does fit my large head well. I thought it would either not seal properly or would be super tight.Although there is a little more tightness around the face due to the full face design, it's not uncomfortably so. I like how the design isolates the nose and mouth from the rest of the face. I get a nice tight seal with no leaking if I apply the mask correctly. I love the panoramic view it provides and it's a different feel having the entire face covered compared to only the eyes and mouth. I was a little concerned about the fixed angle of the snorkel but it isn't a problem, at least it wasn't during my limited pool testing. Open water may prove to be a different story. I've read that these masks aren't the best for extensive swimming or submerging due to the risk of inhaling CO2 buildup in the mask. It does strike me as being more for light use. I'd likely use this when I just want to go out and do a little light surface snorkeling close to shore. I'd still use my traditional gear for deeper water or snorkeling farther from shore. Despite the (supposed) threat of CO2 buildup, I do like the fact that I can breathe either through my mouth or nose. It just feels so much more natural. I can't wait to try this in open water next summer. I still plan to take a traditional mask and snorkel along as a backup just in case this doesn't work as well in open water. If this performs well enough, I may try traveling with it solo on subsequent trips. I can always rent traditional gear in a pinch.

Snorkeling is a fun summer activity, however, some find the regular snorkeling equipment a bit of a hassle to get used to, this is where full face masks come into play. They are really easy to use, you just put them on and breathe normally, the same applies to this one as well. However, do note that these masks are only safe to use for surface snorkeling and not for diving as they can be dangerous, but I am not an expert and you should inform yourself before using them. When I look at this mask I can see how well it is made, and the effort and engineering it went into designing it. The silicone skirt that goes against the skin feels very soft and it creates a strong seal, however, men with a longer beard might have issues with the seal since the water might penetrate through the beard. The anti-fogging coating is extremely useful since the fogging is the most annoying thing I experience with cheap snorkeling equipment. But the most impressive thing about this mask is the breathing system which is very well designed. Firstly, we start with the dry top which has the floating valve design, this stops the water from getting into the mask since it floats on water, and as soon as you dive below the surface or even if you tip the barrel it will seal the opening, you can only exhale, but not inhale. Secondly, the tube has separate channels for air intake and exhaust which gives the ability to stop the water from getting in but is possible to breathe out. Thirdly, the two-chamber design stops the exhaled air from fogging up the upper chamber through which the user is able to see, but also if the water passes through the valve it accumulates in the first chamber so you are able to see that there is a problem before it penetrates into the second chamber.Overall, I am very satisfied with the product and it works very well, would definitely recommend.

We were in Spain and Southern France in 2019 and saw beach goers wearing these masks in the sea and pools. They were everywhere! Simple to put on, these slip over the head with wide elasticated straps and the snorkel piece attaches easily (it also comes apart when ready to store away). This M-L Cressi face mask is appropriate for the size of head. I have a small head and this was too big and baggy around my face but this fitted my husband perfectly and the soft silicone created a comfortable seal around the face and mouth, preventing water ingress. Incidentally, the instructions were miniscule and not very helpful! The mask gives a wide field of vision. Whilst the mask around the eyes remained unsteamed, there was fogging around the mouthpiece and it did make hearing speech challenging. You could also not lip read. In short, this mask presents an effective communication barrier. Interestingly due to the Covid 2020 crisis, Cressi Duke full face masks have been recommended by South African swim authorities for teachers to wear as part of the social distancing measures for the re-opening of commercial pools. I can see the value and effectiveness of putting a barrier between teacher and pupil whilst in the water. However, having now worn one, I found it suffocatingly hot and a child would not be able to follow instructions by speech alone (as discussed above).Nevertheless, for snorkelling and having fun under the water as well as for effective stroke development and speed work (freestyle with no side breathing), this mask is terrific. It also comes in its own zip up travel bag with canvas handle (see photo)

Probably the biggest benefit of this mask is not coming out of the water every breathe with the taste of salty sea in your mouth. Most adults would be choosing the Large but measure your face to ensure the best choice. According to the manufacturers if the length of your nose bridge to the bottom of your chin is less than or equal to 4.7 inches (12 centimeter), select S/M. Else go for the Large.Great for snorkeling in the sea in Majorca, or anywhere else. I think more than half of those snorkeling were wearing these. The mask covers your entire face, like the face hugging alien in the film Alien, but you can breath with it on you. The Cressi mask means that you can breath through your mouth and nose. This is much easier than a traditional snorkel with a horrible chewed up mouth piece. Comfortable and so much easier to breath with when your head is under water. The mask has adjustable straps that are easy to adjust to get the right fit for your head. The visibility with the mask on is great as you have a wide field of vision. The mask comes with its own handy bag.The best feature is that when you go completely underwater swimming down with the fish is that it automatically blocks of the snorkel to prevent water coming down the breathing tube.Takes up hardly any space in your luggage as the breathing tube folds over.Once used I think you will be converted and definitely prefer this than to the old snorkel set up. At £48 it is expensive when compared to a Dorrle mask at £26.

I’ve never used a full face snorkel mask and initially I was concerned that it would be uncomfortable and possibly claustrophobic. I decided to wear it around the house first to see how it felt. It’s very easy to adjust and although I was thought it would be a little on the large side, my fears were unfounded. With a bit of fiddling, it’s a perfect and very comfortable fit. It’s relatively light and even though the strapping goes across the head, it’s not intrusive. The immediate benefit, even in the home, is that there’s genuine all round visibility. My usual snorkel set is the goggle and mouthpiece design and vision is literally blinkered. This full face model gives stunning side view without having to move your head.It took me a little while to get used to breathing through nose and mouth and I’m pleased I tried it out before going near water.I’m not brave enough to use this in open sea for the first time, so tried it in the pool. It’s awesome. No fogging and it feels totally secure and stable. Cressi has an excellent reputation and that’s reflected in the build quality and design. I’m also confident that it’s robust enough to withstand regular use and I’m looking forward to really putting this through its paces at the beach.I’d recommend getting used to it first. I’ve really taken to it, to my surprise, and I’m delighted with it. There’s the bonus of a neat and well designed carry case which is useful for protecting the mask and keeping a wet item clear from dry stuff.

I am a 6ft chap so I selected the M/L size based on measurements of my face.I love Cressi products and I have enjoyed years of snorkelling with Cressi snorkel and mask sets. Always get steamed up though. I have tried split, sprays, vaseline but nothing quite works. The full face mask from Cressi solves the problems with additional benefits too. It is well make of hard plastic. Looks nice (if a bit odd) on and comes with a detachable snorkel tube. It all comes in a nice storage bag with a drainage hole at the bottom. All well thought of.It has adjustable straps which give a nice snug fit without causing any pain from tightness. The real beauty of this over a mask and snorkel set is the fact the the breathing tubes are completely separated from the vision screen. There is an internal mask (which feels like a pocket resuscitation mask) made of what feels like medical grade plastic. It then leads up the left side of the mask to the snorkel tube whilst not connecting at all to the mask. The mask is made of clear, firm plastic and gives a much wider field of view than a normal mask. No more fogging up AT ALL. No more attaching the snorkel to the mask and getting your hair caught. It makes you feel less claustrophibic and is really a joy to use.The snokel tube comes apart again for storage and it cleans nicely in the sink.I am converted. I love the Cressi facemask and I am sure it will last me a good few holidays in the future. Snorkelling is even more of a joy!!

I enjoy my snorkeling (as well as some scuba) but thought I'd hang on until I had actually used this mask before giving it a review. It seems well made, has decent quality seals (plus some spares for the valves) and looks the part.Time will tell how well the plastics last, but I guess I need to be realistic.I bought the larger size and it's a good fit, with a harness that is comfortable and easy to adjust. The face seals are comfortable, soft and easily cope with my (short) beard and are very effective on the surface and in shallow dives.Visibility is excellent and there is very little fogging as the seal around the nose and mouth is good - though there is a slow build up of spit/snot which you can only really clear on the surface.Similarly,if you do get water in the face section, there's no way of clearing it without taking the mask off on the surface - though this is easy to do.So all in all - a good bit of kit for finning around on the surface looking down and enjoying the view. The technique is a little different from a standard mask and snorkel (it might feel a bit claustrophobic to some), but I liked it and can use it comfortably for much longer. However, once submerged it has its limitations. As pressure increases with depth, I found the mask "wobbles" on its seals. Whilst a bit distracting, these remained watertight down to a reasonable depth - but I shall be keeping my standard mask & snorkel for more serious stuff!

I live about a mile from the coast so as soon as this mask arrived off I went to try it out. This is such a brilliant mask. Because it is a full face mask there is no soreness around the eyes and nose as I have had with other masks. I has soft supported inner rubber that fits around the face and also around the nose, mouth and chin. There is a very comfortable strap that fits around the back of the head that is attached at 4 points on the mask and are adjustable. The snorkel tube just snaps onto the mask and you are good to go.There are various air locks that open and close when required. I found that there was no misting up while I was using this, it is so annoying when this happens. The specs for this mask are very accurate and I agree with all that they claim, please do read them as they tell you much better than I can explain as to how this system works. This is a very comfortable mask and because it is full faced it means you get a bigger field of vision when snorkelling. I think it's brilliant and would definitely recommend it.

I am new to snorkelling, my daughter isn't, she's been trying to get me to give it a go but for some reason I never quite got the hang of traditional snorkel mask. When I tried this full face mask I must admit I felt too claustrophobic, it does have a perfect seal and wide vision so works very well. Fog free as your mouth is completely covered (as you can see from first picture only the mouth area fogs). My daughter tried it and with her experience she said she could see a lot more using the full face mask which she felt was brilliant but is used to the type of breathing tube you can go under water with and this mask's tube is made to be out of water at all times. My daughter said 5 stars because of viewing and anti fog but 4 as she would of liked to go under water. I was hoping having a full face mask would help me feel more comfortable with snorkelling but maybe its just not for me. I give it 5 stars as it works perfectly, does what it's supposed to do and is well designed. Comes with a zipped soft case.

Ok, so I am not a professional snorkel person by any means. I enjoy snorkeling twice a year while I go on vacation. I was recently on a trip to Hawaii and wanted to get a dry mask like this so I could enjoy myself in the water more. I enjoy snorkeling but hate how water gets in your face and in your mouth if you accidentally go underwater. I saw this Cressi full face mask and was immediately intrigued. I will say the mask traveled well, although it was hard to disconnect the top piece as I was afraid to put too much pressure on it and break it. The mask was easy to use and didn't fog much as advertised. It was easily adjustable, even when floating in the water and it was super comfy without being too tight where I got crazy marks all over my face (as was my experience with past snorkeling equipment). My younger cousin, who is only 12 was able to use the mask easily and we switched back and forth with no issues. Overall, this is a quality mask that I imagine I will be using for years to come.

I've wanted to try a mask like this- and glad I did. The silicone seals are soft and seal very well. This type of design is perfect for snorkeling and allows for a much more natural breathing. I always hated those separate snorkels you had to stuff in the mouth- this is a million times better. Visibility is excellent as well. The lens is VERY well made, which is impressive- plastic lenses without optical distortion are expensive to make, so the price on this mask seems quite low for the high quality.Caveats: Fitment is relatively specific, so look at the size chart and measure- don't just guess based on any other criteria. This style of snorkel is NOT for diving. While snorkeling you can dive down briefly at shallow depths, but you'll start to feel pressure against your face the deeper you go. It's not suitable for deep free diving IMHO.I REALLY like this mask and highly recommend it- but can't stress enough that measuring for fitment is necessary.

Having only ever snorkelled with your traditional snorkel and mask I wasn't sure what one of these full face masks would be like and I was concerned they might feel claustrophobic. I needn't have worried. From the moment I put the mask on it felt safe and secure. There is plenty of room in it so I didn't feel too hemmed in. It was immediately obvious that the seal was good and I felt confident putting my head under the water with it on. The whole thing feels like good quality, from the bag the mast comes in, to the feel of the plastic. It was quick and easy to fit the snorkel and the whole thing was so much better than I had expected. So much nicer than having a big plastic snorkel mouthpiece in your mouth!I got the M/L which is for adults, but I'm sure that the child's size would be a whole lot better for kids than a mask and snorkel, I'm truly converted to this mask! I'm so happy with it and will never look back!!
