I bought the blackout 3, knowing I am the only one who will be sleeping in the tent at any time, but I am a little sorry I didn't buy the 4. I took it camping for the first time last weekend and having blown up my double bed realised that there was a small amount of room along the side for all my gear. It was enough for me, but I am unable to sit anywhere inside the tent with the bed and it does feel a little cramped when I'm inside. However! Without a double bed it is actually quite roomy and I do think you could squeeze 3 people in at a push, or two people comfortably. So I think when my double bed goes I will downgrade to a single bed and that should solve the room issue.I can't really comment on the waterproofing, as we didn't have a drop of rain whist we were away, but the outer skin is very thick, so I can imagine it would hold up well in heavy rain. My other issue was the blackout, at night time you can't see a thing, no lights from nearby street lamps or even torches from neighbours, but when I woke up on the first morning I realised light does seep in through the mesh netting, around the top part of the walls of the inner. The light comes in through the porch and then into the bedroom. To be fair though, I didnt expect it to be completely blackout so I am not too fussed that some light gets in. In comparison to a normal tent in which light comes in everywhere it possibly can, the inner walls are all completely black as is the underside of the outer, so it does block pretty much all light, its just the mesh which lets it down. I find its easier to block out the light from the porch as its really not that much and in comparison to a normal tent the difference in huge! You can definitely get a longer lie in or nap during the day. Finally, I will just add that this tent attracted a lot of spiders. I'm not scared or bothered by them at all but after my first night a whole family had moved in, by the tine it came to put it down I couldn't keep track of all the ones which had escaped, there were so many! It only seemed to be my tent too that had the problem ? All round, this is a good little tent and the good points make up for the bad. It is a lot cooler inside during the day and a little warmer at night as coleman claimed, and I managed to pitch it in under 10 mins on my own. It's a good tent, worth the purchase. I would lastly just recommend buying the 4 man if you want extra space for 2 people or you plan on using an air bed. Happy camping ?

I waited until I used this tent until I wrote a review. Basically I loved it but there were a few niggles which came between the tent and the 5 star review it nearly deserves.Positives:A) it really is waterproof! Our last night in wales was really wet and it was chucking it down when we broke camp. But the inside of the tent stayed dry. Obviously as the tarpaulin inside the porch is not attached any kit stored here in bad weather gets wetB) the blackout is awesome! In the sleeping area just a few glimmers of light around the seams lets you know that dawn has arrivedC) look at the pictures and sleep with your head by the door end! (I slept with my head at the back on the first night and there wasn’t enough headroom!)Negatives:A) I (late middle aged novice solo camper) couldn’t put it up on my own, I was grateful for another pair of handsB) the instructions are pictorial and not detailed enoughC) repacking this tent into the carry bag requires skills way beyond my capabilities. Even after drying out and with the luxury of laying it out in the hall back home I couldn’t get it all back in the bag and settled for bundling tent plus bag into a bigger bag ready for our next adventure.D) I would not be happy to share this tent with my husband in wet weather never mind a third person. With a blow up mattress there was enough floor space for my hiking kit inside (knowing that we were expecting rain) but not for anyone else. I will attempt a double blow up mattress and sharing with the hubby on my next adventure when it’s guarenteed to be dry. If it doesn’t fit we have a crisis, watch this space!

Great, great, great tent!I managed to put the tent up by myself, whilst feverish with an infection, on pain meds and looking after my 3 year old. Taking it down took about 20 mins with said 3 year old.This. Tent. Is. DARK!!! The black out in this is amazing, middle of the day and looking inside is like staring into the void. Over excited 3 year old at her first festival with her best friend still managed to nap at about 2pm. On the flip side, make sure you get a really good lamp, I didn't and had many angry moments blindly flailing around, arse out the tent door, looking for needed items.Fit a chunky 5 foot 6 adult and a dinky 3 year old no problems. 3 younger teens might fit. 3 adults?Only if you're REALLY friendly.Weather was stunning, blinding sun so can't really say about rain and wind. But again that shows how good the black out was. Was warm inside but not stifling. The only downside I had was the vent in the door. It's a tiny flap. I can't see why the entire door couldn't have had a mesh zip flap like most tents. Without a full mesh door option it means sitting in your tent you either have to risk bugs getting in (there were A LOT of wasps at the site) or have the entire door zipped up and sing "Hello darkness, my old friend" to yourself.Edit: Used this again recently. It held up well to some sudden, fairly heavy, summer storms while at a small festival.

Firstly, the blackout technology is utterly fantastic. I took this tent to Silverstone and slept at least two more hours than I normally would during the height of summer in a tent. It also felt significantly cooler compared to nearly every other tent I've used. Based on the blackout technology alone, I'd never buy any other manufacturer. That said, the one I received had a lot of issues. There were tiny puncture holes in the outter (which felt far too small and didn't look right when over the inside of the tent, to the point where I had to shift the pegs in slightly just to get them to connect). The door had two rips in it and the groundsheet looked like it had been melted (could see the white underneath in more than a few spots). It also doesn't feel like a four person tent,it seemed to be the same size (although a tiny bit taller) than my current three man tent, with the entrance being slightly smaller (I can fit a blow up both ways with ease inside my old tent, in this one it was a very interesting fit). If I was sharing with more than one person, it would be very snug, however as it was, my friend and I had just enough room.I should also state, once I contacted Amazon about the issues, they sent a replacement out and while I have yet to try it out, if those issues were a one off, I can see myself using this tent fairly happily for many years to come.

Arrived promptly, light enough at only 5kg. Easy to put up and seems well designed, you can't lose the poles as they are all attached by elastic. However, despite putting it up in only a few minutes and then taking it down in even less time, i encountered a major almost hysterical problem!!! THE BAG WAS NOT BIG ENOUGH TO PUT EVERYTHING BACK AGAIN!!!! How i laughed, it seems like an oversight as every other tent i've owned i did not encounter this problem, ever. I eventually got it all back in and the bag zipped up by which time the sweat was dripping off me and i was knackered, (took about forty minutes) and that's saying something as i'm a fit bloke.I will contact Coleman to see if maybe they made a mistake and sent it in the wrong bag (even though the bag has the correct product size and product type printed on it). Will happily change my rating to 5 stars if indeed the factory used the wrong sized bag.I found an awesome video on you tube that showed me how to pack the tent in about 5 minutes, worked first time too! If you type "Taking down a tent and fitting it back in the bag" into youtube browser - hey presto!!

I didn't know what to expect with this tent. It was not overly expensive and I don't have a lot of experience in camping, but I needed a tent to attend a Scout camp (as a leader) in Feb, so took the risk. I have to say, I was not disappointed! We camped in Central Scotland in the weekend of Storm Ciara and this tent took all she could give. I didn't get a lot of sleep due to the weather but was hugely impressed how this tent stood up to the storm. The poles flexed a LOT but didn't break. The wind was pulling against the guy lines but the webbing held fast. We lost 3 tents that night to pole failure - all well known brands - but this tent got through unscathed.I will say that there was a little bit of mist inside the tent - it could have been condensation (I had the vents closed)or it could have been that the driving rain forced its way through to the inner layer. However, it was not damp as such and didn't affect my experience.P.s. in strong winds, pitch this tent with the end opposite the door into the wind, as that seemed to be the best way to minimise risk of damage.

I purchased this tent on Thursday for a last minute camping trip with friends over the weekend. I'm not a regular camper so just jumped on Amazon to get something that was good quality but reasonably priced. I also bought the matching sleeping bag. This tent is absolutely brilliant, it is so easy to put up - it only took 10 minutes and was incredibly sturdy and strong, even in the winds that battered the tent. It poured with rain but we were warm and dry inside. Fantastic. Usually poor weather on a camping trip would ruin the experience but it was actually saved by how good the tent was!It keeps out all the daylight in the morning, allowing you to get a great night's sleep,I slept longer in the tent than I do in my own bed.I have never bought the Coleman brand before but this is definitely my 'Go to' brand now in terms of outdoor gear. I have recommended to all friends and can safely say I am delighted with my purchase.

I bought a large tent with the Blackout bedroom last year and was sold on it immediately after we first used it! It really does works and even in the bright summer mornings the bedroom stays dark so you can sleep in. I needed something with a smaller pack size, lighter and easy to carry for 1-2 nights and this tent is the one. It packs down pretty small yet you get a decent size bedroom area with enough room to move around. For a couple it is perfect. We did a trial run in the garden this weekend it is very straight forward to get it set up and you can pack it away in less than 10 mins. The bedroom is amazingly dark! We have planned to do at least 2 music festivals and 3 motorbike events this year. These blackout tents are such a good idea and if you are light sensitive or want to sleep during the day then these are the best for the job!

Bought this for car camping/beach/campsites, for the money this is a surprisingly robust tent, would take 3 at a push with equipment in porch, 2 with gear comfortably and obviously cavernous for solo camper, Heres a little tip if its pissing down and you dont want to sit in a dark tent simply unhook the inner and have it laying flat on the floor, then cover with a bit of plastic/spareground sheet etc to protect the inner and you've got a absolutely huge area to shelter cook etc, doing this gives you enought room to sit a full sized camping chair in the middle of the tent for reference im 6ft and can sit comfortably on camping chair and have several inches clearance above head. Pitching 5mins solo, packing abit of a faff best lay outer flat on inner fold once in half roll tightly then spend 5 mins swearing trying to get back in bag.

I bought this tent as my partner insisted she wanted to try the black-out feature and I am so glad I listened! It really does make a big difference and meant we had a better nights sleep. The tent was fairly easy to set up and withstood rain and wind over a festival weekend. The blackout feature means that a lamp is needed in the tent at night if you need to find anything and is practically complete darkness even when the sun has come up.We had two people, plus bags and festival goodies, and it provided a comfortable amount of space.Taking it down was also painless, however; it does take a bit of work to get it to roll up small enough to get into the bag again (though that's standard with manytents!)Very happy with this and would recommend!

First time we had a chance to go camping it started to rain the morning after we set up the tent and it was all nice and dry. It was raining for 2 days and I have to say its a nice waterproof tent. Plenty of space for 2 people even with the backpacks inside the tent. Nice and dark inside during the day. Second time camping also impressed . The bag itself nice and small, not too heavy. The pegs a bit thin and on a bit hard or rocky ground could not be enough. At night setting up the tent we bent them on little rocks or gravel so I would recommend to buy a few stronger as a spare set. Other than that I am very very happy with my purchase.Perfect.

This really is impressively dark even on a bright day. I'm sure it help me sleep a little bit longer than I would have if it were brighter. This meant the severity of my hangover what is reduced dramatically so ten points there. As you would expect it still gets really effing hot when the sun comes out so in the morning I was a little rudely awoken by said burning ball of gas. It was very easy to construct and stayed up. I would recommend getting brighter coloured guide ropes if you are attending a music festival. Luckily this time there were no problems

This is a great tent, I bought the 3 man , however, it's just big enough for 2. The blackout is fantastic, we slept in until 8.00 am due to this! And you will need a good lamp. The tent proved to be waterproof during a wet festival so all good there. It was pretty easy to put up and I think my husband could have managed on his own, I, however, would have struggled on my own. The pegs bent quite easily in hard ground so we have bought some more robust ones.Overall a great little tent, I may upgrade to the 4 man version, just for the extra space!.

Used at Download Festival where it basically rah ed on and off for the whole 5 days. There were also some pretty strong winds but this tent held up to it all. First morning when I woke up I thought it had leaked, but had no problems the rest of the time so I think it was probably just some rain that had managed to get through the vents when we were putting it up.10/10 would recommend for the price I paid for it but the price seems to have gone up by about £80 since then!

A brilliant tent with great blackout function that makes getting up out of bed that much harder. With an inflatable mattress inside it feels a bit short for me lengthwise (I'm exactly 6foot) which is why it hasn't got the full 5 stars otherwise its brilliant. Easy to put up and dismantle. Great weather resistance and looks great when erected. The 3 man tent I purchased is comfortable for 2 ppl with some space for storing bits and bob's.
