This review is of the CP-PWR-CORD-UK an essential piece of equipment designed by Cisco Systems to connect the CP-PWR-CUBE-3 PSU [power supply unit] to the UK mains supply. The equipment is black in colour, round in cross section and approximately six foot in length. One end terminates in the industry standard three pin female plug familiar to almost everyone on the planet and that fits snugly and securely into the body of the CP-PWR-CUBE-3. To its credit it has never worked loose during operation. The other end of the equipment is a moulded black plastic standard UK three pin mains plug fitted with an integral fuse which can be readily changed in seconds. Simplicity itself! This end of the equipment boasts a similarly high level of construction and, once correctly and securely inserted into a standard UK mains socket, remains firmly in position. It has never once worked loose during operation. Fantastic! This equipment has functioned flawlessly since being put into operation; remaining in place at both ends and running at an acceptable operating temperature with no signs of overheating. What more could you ask?The unit under review was supplied along with the CP-PWR-CUBE-3 obtained for use with my first Cisco 7940G IP Phone.Unless you are using your Cisco 79xx Series IP Phones with a Cisco switch that provides PoE [Power Over Ethernet] you WILL need a CP-PWR-CORD-UK [and a CP-PWR-CUBE-3] for each Cisco 79xx Series IP Phone you put into operation.. What's in a name?. That which we call a Cisco CP-PWR-CORD-UK. By any other name [mains lead / power cord / etc] would smell as sweet[With apologies to the Late Great William Shakespeare who is no doubt turning in his grave at this very moment]As mains leads go the Cisco CP-PWR-CORD-UK is a pretty good one. Plug one end into the wall, the other end into the equipment and - providing you get them the right way round - Bob's your uncle! Mains power flows in an orderly fashion out of the wall and into the equipment enabling it to work as Cisco intended. An Essential Yet Very Much Under Rated Piece Of kit...I suppose you COULD try using a compatible unit from a third party OEM supplier [or even a common or garden kettle lead from Woolworths] but you do so at your own risk as Cisco will not guarantee correct operation of their equipment with any other manufacturer's kit. At the very least you will almost certainly run the risk of invalidating your warranty should the man from Cisco - or should that be the Cisco Kid - cast one of his beady little eyes upon it during a kit inspection or service call. And don't forget, Cisco run intensive three day training courses especially designed to instruct their representatives in the detection of unauthorised third party kit attached to their network.Ask yourself, is it REALLY worth the risk? The Cisco CP-PWR-CORD-UK. An essential piece of equipment manufactured to the usual high standards we have all come to expect from a company like Cisco. Well done Cisco! Take a Bow!I hope you have enjoyed reading this review as much as I enjoyed writing it and take it in the spirit it is intended... [It's been a long day.]RegardstbodRead full review...
