I use this just about every time I leave the house on a walk, so about four or five times a week. The build quality seems just great. I haven't used the biner so I can't speak to that. The included case and cloth is nice, and I can use the case to hold my Victorinox SwissChamp (pretty good fit with room left for a small map or fire starter), if I dangle the MiniMight on the outside of my pack or in an outside pocket.Uses:Bird watching: The MiniMight is good enough to make identification and take observations at a variety of distances. I've observed a stellar's jay at 40 feet, an acorn woodpecker at 50 feet, a red-shouldered hawk at 60 feet, and a flock of wild turkeys at 300 yards.People watching: Nothing creepy,of course. But I'll give an example of the way it's useful. You are wondering if you should take a shortcut through a neighborhood that has a bad reputation. It's a few blocks away, but you think you see a couple of guys with hoods over their heads looking pretty shifty. You look through the monocular and realize it's two really cold teenage girls waiting for their mom to take them on a shopping trip.Airplane watching: From 1,000 to 20,000 feet you can determine any number of things about aircraft. Civil or military, color, number of windows, etc. This surprised me but the magnification is really that good.Hiking: Sometimes I wander around on trails without reading the map. The woods around here are pretty open, not a ton of undergrowth. I've used the MiniMight to read trail signs that were about 100 yards away up steep inclines. The benefit there is pretty obvious. Another time I was trying to identify a structure that looked like a shed, only to discover as I focused in that it was a public restroom. Couldn't have come at a better time, since I had wandered pretty far that day.Amusement: Identifying structures is really fun. I was looking at a huge water tower about 300 yards out when I saw the flock of wild turkeys below it. I've tracked animals that didn't know I was tracking them, showed my kids how to be detectives, figured out that our local hillside letter is not made of painted rocks as I had assumed, identified small curious objects in areas I couldn't get to, and answered a number of other questions that were at the back of my mind.Cons:1. Eyeglasses. Even if you fold the rubber shade back, the view is not as great with eyeglasses on. Some people are used to it; others just take their glasses off (I slide mine up my forehead).2. Vibration. You'll need a bit of patience and sometimes some slow breathing as things won't always hold steady in your view. I don't find it annoying, but some might.3. Sharpness. Some details will just never pop into perfect focus, as much as you fine-tune the focus ring. I'm OK with that and understand it as an engineering compromise. If you need quality sharpness you should not be looking at this price point, sorry.Overall: I have a couple of pairs of binoculars but I leave them at home every time. The portability here cannot be beat. You won't regret this purchase especially not if you give it a few weeks of active carry.

Overall: pretty good. For 13 bucks: great! When shopping for optics there are two facts: high quality lenses are expensive, and size matters. Manufacturing top quality lenses requires precision and expensive materials. There is simply no way around this. For the most part “you get what you pay for” definitely applies to optics of all kinds. Is a $1000 binocular or monocular twice as good as a $500 model? Maybe not, but if you want good quality you should be prepared to spend $100 or more. Also, when it comes to any optic used to see long distances, bigger is better (in terms of image clarity and brightness). This product is small and cheap, but, for what you get it is an incredibly good value. In bright daylight, the image is very clear for its size. It’s tiny and fits in any pocket. It comes with a cute little carrying pouch. And it’s ONLY $13! My only complaint is that the rubber eye cup doesn’t roll back for eyeglass wearers. I can use it with my glasses on but the image is twice as large if I put it right up to my eye. If you are in need of serious optics for bird watching or hunting you will be disappointed. If you want something to carry, unobtrusively, in your pocket that will let you see things you can’t see with the naked eye... this is it! Oh yeah, did I mention... $13?! Well worth it in my opinion.

My son has a visual impairment and can't see things very far away. We are often looking for inexpensive ways to help him without being too obvious. He doesn't like others noticing him differently. When watching a play or program he can't see facial expressions even if sitting in the front row.Having one of these handy has been a nice thing to have as he can use it as his leisure to see various things during a performance. Of course what he can see with it various depending on where we are sitting, it often helps him to have the option to look through it even if just occasionally.I wish these came in more varying magnifications, even something like a zoom.. Now that would be wonderful for someone like him!We find this one, as any other, has a sweet spot for distance that varies with what you are wanting to see.I gave it four stars because although it has proved sturdy enough haven taken a small drop, I wish it came with a small carrying case and a clip to make it easier and more sturdy to carry around.

I love the MiniMight for several reasons: the size, the vision field, the easy to use, and the accessories. It's pretty small and portable but it's also bigger than I thought, which is great. I also love it's not lightweight, it's pretty heavy for it's size which makes it feel robust and not fragile. If your vision gets blurry you just need to turn it to adjust the focus, and to me in my short experience it has a very far vision field. And the accessories are just what you need to keep your monocular safe and working. Since I'm too clumsy I get my finger inside the carabineer and that way it won't fall and mess up. I throw it inside the pouch and in my backpack and I'm ready to go. And finally,it's super easy to use, just make sure you look through it at the correct angle, otherwise you'll get a cut vision since the inside blocks part of the vision field if not looking straight forward through it. There's a pic for size comparison with my phone.

Mine showed up with some rough spots on it. The edge of the main body shows the underlying metal and there are some scratches around where the chain connects. These are cosmetic issues and other than that it's a useable product and I'msure I'll add more scratches to it.THE BAD: I ordered this on the 17th of june. I paid $10 extra for faster delivery. I finally got it today June 25. There is no kind way to put it I feel ripped off. Orlando is maybe 150 miles away from here.

Overall, a nice instrument. It comes in at three inches long, but it's a bit fat for my taste. At the same magnification, brightness, and overall quality I'd recommend the "Roxant Pro SUPERIOR COMPACT MONOCULAR". It's a couple of bucks more, but easier to store as it's a straight tube design, not a swollen tube. It doesn't have the belt clip thing that this one does, but does come with a string lanyard to hang around your neck. Either one will work fine. I bought them both.

Yes, I admit it - I carry around a man-purse for my glasses, iPod, phone, wallet, and a few other things. I bought this little eyepiece because I had the extra space and thought it would be useful. I find myself pulling it out all the time now - looking at birds, deer on the far edge of my yard, and sailboats along the horizon at the Jersey shore. Its small and lightweight - I easily forget I'm carrying it, and the image is clear. There's not a thing I'd improve about it.

Easily fits in my shorts pocket. It also has a chain, where you can hang it from your belt, prse or back pack if you like. Comes with a nice case. Very convenient if I want to see a bird or anything like that. I carry it around a lot more than my binoculars. You can turn the lens to focus. I take off my glasses to use it. I am myopic with about a -6 nearsightedness, so the focus just works for me. If I was a -8 or so, it probably wouldn't work for me. Very high quality.

24.9.2016

Very lightweight and easy to pack. The optics are clear in daylight, and are functional at night under streetlights. Its a good purchase for the price. If you are looking for high quality/ high definition optics though, you are probably going to need to increase your price range as this is an entry level monocular. It seems well made but it doesn't seem like its built to be knocked around so I chose to not use the keychain clip and keep mine in its included pouch.

24.6.2020

You shouldn't expect perfect optics for a monocular under $15, but this one's pretty darn good and keeps a clear image even on the outer circumference of the view. It is extremely light weight. I took off the lanyard and store it in the pouch it comes with. The pouch slips onto the sternum strap of my packs, and the monocular is totally accessible when I need it on the trail. The item is so light weight that I can't tell it's there during my hikes. Five stars.

8.4.2015

Good clear view, no distortion noted. Was able to focus clearly on things 20 ft to infinity.Comes with a good case and lens cloth to keep it smudge free.Gave it 4 starts because the chain and caribiner are low quality and will start deforming with any kind of pressure on them. I wouldn't attach it to anything with these, as brushing against a tree or someone might pop the chain, and therefore your monocular right off without you noticing.

I've discovered that many times when I use this telescope (monoscope? monocular?) I can't get it to focus because I'm a little too close. I read the description but I guess I underestimated the distances at which I'd be using it. Other than that, it's a fine little tool - light weight, compact and comes with a nice case. It's a bit wobbly if you use it one-handed, but stabilize it a bit with the other hand and it works just fine.

23.11.2014

This thing is great. It takes up very little room in a EDC and gives some decent magnification. If you already carry a range finder this would be redundant, but it takes up little room and weighs very little. The carabineer and o-ring attachment broke during first field use but I expected this, also I drop this from a height of about 8 or 9 feet onto rocks (by accident) and it seems to have suffered no damage.

17.6.2017

A bargain. Much better than I thought it would be. I was looking for a pocket scope to use on hikes. It seems perfect in that respect. Tiny. Nice optics for price etc. The only reason for four stars and not five is the included chain/carabiner. Just too lightweight to trust in my opinion. But wouldn't use that part anyway. Fits nice in cargo pants pocket. So far, we'd it buy again.

I bought this mini scope as a gift for someone I didn't know. All I knew was he loved hunting and fishing. From what I hear, he loved the fact that this mini scope is small enough that he can carry it in his pocket. When it arrived at my home, I was amazed at the quality. It cost so little and looked so costly. Great gift for an outdoorsman.
