In an effort to help those trying to decide whether these filters are really worth the money, the following is a list of my own impressions and conclusions:PROS:+ Employs Schott glass (made by Schneider Krauznach), which is manufactured to a very high optical standard+ The filter benefits from an effective seven-layer MRC (Multi-Resistant Coating) - which is water and dirt repellant, and is reputed to be as hard as the glass it adheres to+ Uses tougher brass mounting rings, which are less likely to distort or wear than aluminium equivalents+ Does nothing but protect the lens without impairing overall image quality (modern digital cameras do not require additional UV filtration)CONS:- Using brass in the construction makes these filters noticeably heavier than their traditional (aluminium)counterparts- The front bezel is quite deep, so vignetting may become an issue when using very wide-angle lenses (wider than 24mm on a full-frame camera, or 18mm on an APS-C camera.) If you imagine this might be a problem, buy the B+W 62mm 007M MRC Nano Coated Clear Glass Protection Filter - XSPD Mount instead - which is usable on lenses as wide as 17mm (full-frame) and 10mm (APS-C)- In this fitting, the filter is more expensive than the obvious rivals...but most probably better- There are counterfeits in the marketplace, so try and purchase from a reputable sourceIn conclusion:Buy these, and you can be sure that you're getting high quality filters for your high quality lenses. Highly recommended!

It might be just me, but these filters seem to be much clearer than filters I have bought from other manufacturers. I always knew these were recognised among pros as the best but was reluctant to spent so much money. However, when using top Nikon Pro glass, it makes sense to protect it with quality filters too.

This filter does exactly what you want - it protects your expensive lens from dust and moisture without having any adverse effects on your photographs - no distortions, no discernible reduction in light getting through to the lens, no reflections. Expensive, but not as expensive as a damaged lens.

B + W filter rings are made of brass and not aluminium as the Japanese filters. The idea is that if you drop your lens or hit a hard object the brass frame collapse and can be easily removed, unlike aluminium that bends and gets stock in front of the lens. Now you know!

I bought this to protect my camera lens without the need to ever replace it, as would be the case for a UV filter (sometimes). Although expensive it is solidly made and compatible with other filters I might want to use in addition.

This is my first B+W filter as I've always had Hoya. The reviews for B+W seem pretty good so I thought I'd give this a go. Looks to be good quality. Nice and clear/clean right out of the box! Hopefully, the coating will be robust.

I have a number of these filters now and am happy with their performance and well as the build quality. The glass is very clear and easy to clean. The threads allowed a smooth installation and removal.

Perfect protection for a quality lens - removes the worry about damaging the lens getting dust on it and scratching it when near objects etc - perfect and fast delivery

16.3.2014

Does what it is supposed to - takes the knocks and scratches - so your lens doesn't have to. I fit these to all my lenses. and only use B+W - the quality is fantastic

This isn't a cheap filter, but I consider a premium filter is required in front of a premium lens. Quality is as described, and I'm very happy with the filter.

it's b&w, top quality and fits my Fujifilm x-s1 beautifully. does not prevent the additional use of the lens cap for protection. expensive though ain't it?
