When I ordered this filter, I also ordered the slim version to compare the two, and also because if this filter was going to cause vignetting on my 17-40mm Canon lens I would return it and keep the slim version. Tried this one first, and had no need to try the slim version as there was absolutely no vignetting using the aforementioned lens on a Canon 5D markII. However, if you are buying this filter and intend to use it with another, say, a screw-on UV, or whatever, you will get vignetting at the extreme wide angle of 17mm. If you are prepared to shoot at 20mm, you will get away without any vignetting. That said, if you do intend to have an additional filter attached, get the slim version.Reviewers have stated that the cap provided with the slim version is prone to slip off. This maybe the case after a prolonged period of use, where the fit becomes slack, but new out of the box I found the fit to be quite tight. This is a solid well-made filter from a reputable manufacturer. Paying more now for the right product is better value in the long run than buying cheap and having to buy this one later.

Having at last got a good quality digital camera I was reminded of the importance of a Polariser. With my old film cameras it tended to be Velvia with a Polariser on one camera all the time with another camera for other film. It was rather nice to be back from the digital compact with dialled in effects. This polariser was rather expensive but is very good quality and the coatings are probably important in enabling cleaning. It seems to be lighter than my Nikon polariser in that it is more subtle and less easy to over-polarise. However this may also be lack of experience of it on my part and reduced winter light. We shall see what the summer holds. The filter is also quite thin but permits the use of a pinch type Nikon lens cover. This seems to be an issue with other filters. Overall I am very happy with it and glad I did not compromise.

Very expensive, yes. But I've been unhappy with cheaper polarising filters, and having just bought a Canon L lens (24-105)I couldn't face the idea of putting my Hoya filter on it. So I bit the bullet, emptied my wallet (still further!) and bought this. The Kasemann with its multi Resistant Coating is said to be much beter than the cheaper B+W - and the thinner "wide angle" filter has reported problems with lens caps.On my 1.6 crop body, there's no vignetting with the 24-105, not with the 17-55 EF-S, even at the widest settings. And no loss of image quality either. So, despite the cost - 5 stars.

This is really a must for all that look for an excellent circular polariser. It is not cheap ... but where do you expect to find a top filter in order to take the best advantage of your lenses ?The kasemann "finish" is the best choice if you want it really weather proof.I had some other circular polarisers much cheaper but I ended with photos with chromatic aberrations impossible to correct with any digital editing software. It is a must ... if you want the best !

It costs a fortune compared to others, but I know after using it for quite a while, that I made the right choice. Very easy to keep clean too, with just a wipe over with a microfibre cloth, due to it's MRC coating being so tough. I've now bought another one of their filters for my other lens, and although it's secondhand, it's still like new. I can't imagine I'll ever use hoya again, as these are in another class.

The price made me think seriously if it was worth the money it costs.I took the risk and I do not regret. It is the best I have had and produces high quality images with no colour aberrations. If you spend your money in high end lenses this filter is a must.

This is a great quality polarizer, have used it for a few years now, it is always fitted, TTL is a great guide.Polarizing is a big deal to me.Expensive but when you could not be happier and could not want a better polarizer, it is worth every penny.
