After suffering from spinal stenosis, I now find it very difficult to walk downhill without poles. My old Brasher poles had twist locks which had started to seize up, so I invested in these new Black Diamond poles with clip type locks. I couldn't decide between these poles or the ones with shock absorbent built in, the price difference in the end decided for me. To be honest it was the right choice as I don't think the shock absorbers would really make any difference. They are a little heavier than my old Brasher poles, but not that it is noticeable when walking.I have probably now walked a few hundred miles since having these poles and I am very happy with them and would recommend them.

Having done a couple of hikes with these, I cannot see me being without them for any hike of length. Take a bit of getting used to; different holds for different gradients.Being a photographer, I often stop to take photos. When I do that, I jab the sticks into the earth, while I fiddle with camera etc.; this shock made the shaft slip a bit. I have tightened up the clamps a bit, and no problems since. But what rigidity can you expect from something so light? It's not a deal breaker, and it only takes a second to check the sticks before you set off again.

Have used these poles for past 4 years in UK, Europe and on many treks in the Himalaya. I have always found them to be robust and reliable. The pole segments are held firm by the flick locks which are easily adjustable. Unlike the twist locks on my other anti-shock poles, I have never encountered any problems with them breaking or loosening. The hand grips are quite comfortable and do not give me blisters. The pole baskets screw on tightly but can loosen sometimes so check them periodically. Overall an excellent pole for the price

I was having knee problems and was scheduled to go on a trip that entailed a lot of walking. Instead of using a cane, I bought these hiking sticks. They met all of my expectations. I walked miles per day over uneven terrain. When I was tired, I put more pressure on them without any issues. I collapsed them multiple times a day for storage at various venues. They have markings (measurements) on the sticks, so I always knew where to stop with the expansions by looking at the numbers. Very well built and easy to use.

If you're carrying any sort of significant weight on your back for long periods of time then you need trekking poles. I would have had a huge issue on my last trip without these. I used them about 12 miles of backpacking with about 30 lbs on my back. I didn't have 1 failure. The locks don't slip at all, the rubber tip guards dont come off unless you want them to, the straps are super comfy, and the handles provide a great grip. I seriously put some weight on these and couldn't get them to fail.

I'm over 100kg and they whitstood all of it so far. I don't use them for flat walking, I use them on steep ascents/descents for additional support and balance. Used them on ice, snow, mud and rock. I don't save such equipment, it has to be reliable when required and these poles definetely are. I even expected the tips to wear quicker than they actually are. Length easy to adjust but the foam grip area underneath the handles means that you don't have to adjust them all the time. Great product.

I used these on an overnight backpacking trip a couple of weeks ago. I'm generally really pleased with them. On the hike in, the lower lock on one pole kept slipping a bit, but it didn't do that on the way back out. The grooves in the handle made a perfect gripping surface despite my hands sweating profusely in near-summer heat we had that weekend. The next poles I buy will have cork instead, but these worked well for me.

These are the first trekking poles I've owned/used and have to say I'm so glad I got them.I used to wonder why people use trekking poles thinking they looked more of a hindrance than help, but after taking advice from a colleague I decided to give them a go and bought these midrange poles. They seem sturdy and aren't too heavy and really do help to take the pressure off my knees and legs when going uphill and down dale.

Lightweight, tough, adjustable. The rubber grips are comfortable, up to this moment no blisters on my thumbs. Wrist straps with liner, and the fliplock system is strong, easy to use with gloves. Comes with powder and trekking baskets. Trek pole tips protectors are sold separately. Don't buy the "Tech tips", as they are not desing for this model.

First pair of walking poles I’ve owned and they suit me with the extra long grips easy to lower hands if needed and being able to palm on the tops when deciding great. If like me you’re looking to try walking with poles and don’t want to spend a fortune then these are the ones to buy I also bought rubber covers for the tips when for road work

I was hesitant because of the cheap price, but these are amazing. I've read reviews of people saying the locking mechanisms don't hold, but there are screws (in plain sight) that you can just crank a bit, and the problem is fixed. I can see these lasting at least 5 years, and I'm pretty hard on my stuff. Would buy again.

These poles are everything I hoped they would be. Lightweight, yet sturdy. I use them for splitboarding so it's important that they collapse enough to stick them in my pack. I've done two lengthy hikes in the snow and had zero troubles. The snow baskets were easy to install a the locking mechanisms work flawlessly.

I was always a bit sceptical about walking poles but am now a convert. These are easy to use, robust and I can't imagine trekking without them any longer. Also really useful in snow at altitude with the snow cups. Clips easy to use, even with ski gloves and sturdy. Great product.

I like them, easy to adjust height, does not come loose, light weight. Comfortable handles with a cork grip below the handles. Cannot say I've used a lot of different poles. However, description says snow baskets included. They were not included. That.'s why i only give 4 stars.

Excellent hand grip design and strong poles. The sections are clamped in position VERY positively and with cold fingers and with gloves you may find that unclamping to store on a pack needs strong thumbs. The hand straps are a bit floppy but work ok and can be exactly adjusted
