I bought a Bluetooth speaker and wanted to use it with both my iPad mini and my laptop. Since my laptop didn’t have Bluetooth this little adapter seemed very handy. My laptop is running Windows 7 with all necessary updates. The CD that came with the adapter auto started when I put it in, but the button that said ‘Install’ did nothing, neither did the cancel button! The attached instructions says the following:1. Insert CD into drive on computer.2. Select Windows WP, Windows 7, or Windows 8 operating system.3. Plug Bluetooth adapter into a USB port on your computer.4. Agree to terms of license and click ‘install’.5. When installation is complete, pair up to 7 devices with your computer. From this instruction I can’t understand why I would get a screen up saying ‘install’ – a screen even with buttons that doesn’t work. I had to use Windows Explorer and find my CD/DVD drive, locate the folder called WIN7 and open ‘setup.exe. Not a problem for me, but many less computer literate would perhaps not know how to locate files like this. On the CD there is a folder with an exe file for each operating system, but on the CD it says ‘Software, driver and manual. I can’t see I have any manual installed, in fact, I can’t find anything from Belkin on my start menu or in Programs and Features. Looking closely on the CD there isn’t any manual there either. The quick installation guide enclosed was not very helpful in regards to troubleshooting as the rest after point 5 was about possible interference from the Bluetooth adapter and that was it.Anyway, I managed to find the speakers and it works fine, but it was a bit frustrating process and I had to go online to find some help in order to get it working. My speakers appear in ‘Devices and Printers’ and Windows thinks it has found a set wireless headphones, not speakers – perhaps that doesn’t matter at all, it works.Much more frustrating is it that I thought both my laptop and my iPad mini could be connected to the speakers and that whatever device that was playing would make the sound. Not so. Even though my speakers apparently can remember both devices, I have to disconnect one for the other to work. So if my iPad is on stand-by, my laptop will say it cannot connect. If I power off my iPad, my laptop is happy to connect to the speakers and I have to actually power-off my iPad as having it on stand-by is not enough. Vice versa, if I want to use the iPad with the speakers I have to go into ‘Devices and Printers’ and disconnect the laptop from the speakers FIRST, close the lid to make the laptop go on standby – why I have no idea, but disconnecting the Bluetooth device is not enough, then power up my iPad, go into settings and click to connect to the speakers. Then I can lift the lid on my laptop again and continue working on it, with my iPad playing music for me through my speakers. Frustrating.I think my Bluetooth device won’t be much used, too much faffing about at least for the devices I intended using it for. Perhaps if am going to watch a film on my laptop I might disconnect my iPad and let the laptop take over, but for daily use it is too much trouble. I have been in touch with the manufacturer of my new speakers and according to them my trouble is due to Microsoft not following Bluetooth guidelines when they produced Window7/8, apparently these issues have been resolved with Windows 8.1 but I am not upgrading to Win 8 in order to get my Bluetooth devices working. I'd rather wait until Microsoft comes up with something better than Windows 8, surely they must soon?To sum it up, this Bluetooth adapter works great but the CD is rather frustrating therefore only 4 stars. If you want to use the adapter with more than one device be prepared for a possible conflict situation depending on what type of devices you want to use.

For me, this wasn't a "plug & play" even though I am on a Windows 7 (64-bit) machine. That said, it could be the laptop OS build...I downloaded the software/driver on-line from the Broadcom website as I don't have a CD-ROM (the Belkin does come with a install disk). The install process did take awhile (around 1hr), but once installed - everything works fine. Setting up new Bluetooth devices is a doodle and the software is fairly intuitive. After using it for about a week, I can say that the Belkin works as described. There are odd occasions when it does get confused with multiple devices are in use - I have 3 devices connected to each other, so when for example I am using my wireless headphones with my laptop and a call comes from my iPhone, the connection between the headphones and the laptop does not get fully re-established when the call finishes. Nothing major as a simple "on-off" of the headphones fixes it, but just a little annoying.Range/connection wise, its pretty good - I have still to experience my headphones cutting out. True, I haven't needed too (or purposely) stretch it to the 10m stated - so I guess for my purposes it is perfectly adequate.Overall, happy with purchase and recommended - although dropped 1 star due to the initial software installation complications.

Having read a number of reviewers experiencing issues with MS Windows installation, thought I'd add a few words.I've got three of these, installed on different machines:-XP Pro 32 bit desktopWin7 Pro 64 bit desktopWin8 Pro 64 bit desktopThe adapter installed differently on all 3 machines. With XP and Win7, I needed to install the Widcomm software as well as the Belkin adapter software from the CD.On the Win8 machine, the adapter was recognised automatically and didn't need Widcomm. If you allow the Widcomm to install anyway, it could cause issues with the Windows 8 emulator already installed by MS.The adapter behaves differently on the Win8 machine to the Win7 PC and offers the same functionality in different ways. You'll need to get familiar with the different processes they go through to do the same thing. Not hard - just unexpected! All 3 machines communicate with each other, as well as my Plantronics headset and Android phone. Devices were recognised automatically, and drivers installed with no issues. This device allows me to cross communicate between machines by phone / VOIP and file transfer, depending on my situation.Perfect for my needs!

Having built my own desktop I did not splash out for a mainboard with in built bluetooth and though a cheap £2 dongle would suffice. However after hours of struggling to get my stereo bluetooth headphones to work and failing I decided it was worth looking at a decent quality adapter. This is just that. It comes with a cd with the drivers pre loaded saving any hassle of roaming the web for driver downloads and is very simple to set up. It worked perfectly with headphones and looks very nice on the front of my tower case as its low profile with just a small blue light to indicate its on which unlike previous dongles doesnt flash annoyingly when in use.A definite 5/5 and worth the investment for anyone thinking of using bluetooth headsets,HiFis or any other media types. The range is good and it claims to be able to handle 7 devices at the same time which im still to test. The bluetooth version 4 is ideal for any laptop users due to its very low power usage and so minimal impact on battery life.

Bought this to use with my laptop which runs Windows 7 64-bit. Reading the instructions and looking at previous reviews I wondered how simple it would be to install it. I started by using the disc supplied but the drivers would not install. I needn't have bothered with this though because all I needed to do was to reinsert the adapter and Windows Plug-and-Play took over and downloaded and installed Microsoft drivers which work fine. Simples! I have used Belkin network adapters on other computers and have to say that I find Belkin software difficult to install at times. This adapter is nevertheless a very good product (as were the network adapters) and does not require specific proprietary drivers.A five-star product let down by the included software and instructions which were actually unnecessary as it turned out.

I am very pleased with this product.Like some other reviewers, I had previously bought a cheap Bluetooth adapter via ebay. This installed fine but didn't work (credit to the seller in China, I got a refund before they had even received the item back). So I thought I would go for a name brand with good reviews and am pleased I did. The device itself is about as small and unobtrusive as anything can be that fits into a USB port. It also has a blue light on to remind you it is there. However, most important for me was that it installed at the first attempt with no problems and worked straightaway (and has continued to do so).It comes with a proper instruction manual (very simplerequirements).Excellent!

Use this to connect my headphones to my PC.Don't waste your time with cheap brand-less ones. I'm not one that believe branded is always better but I have tried way to many cheap Bluetooth adapters to know that they are a waste of money.I have not had any problems with them normal Bluetooth compression no audio loss, no dropping of of connection and the range is fairly good as well.

Great little piece of kit.I was given a wireless Apple Keyboard for my desktop PC for my birthday but unfortunately my PC isn't bluetooth-ready.This little thing did the trick perfectly and I've had no issues whatsoever with the performance of the keyboard and the bluetooth (touch wood!) hasn't conked out even for a second yet in just over a month of use. Happy days!

Since this was the only purpose I purchased it for, it has worked well for me. Not totally easy to set up, but I was able to get it working fairly quickly. Bluetooth is not the easiest of networking systems to set up - you should have some basic knowledge to get through the setup more easily.

I bought the Orico one first but it was awful and kept dropping the connection after just seconds of use between PC and headset. No problems at all with this dongle.Plugged in the dongle, installed the software, seconds later I was listening to music from my PC. Perfect.

Decent little gadget to have works really well and the range is some what amazing, I thought it would be rubbish but I was pleasantry surprised. If your Looking for cheap Bluetooth device go for this what are you waiting for, hope this helps in making your decision.

This tiny adapter was instantly recognised by my Windows 7 laptop and worked perfectly. In my view it is worth buying the branded product rather than relying on some of the cheaper imports. This one is small enough to stay permanently in the USB socket.

12.9.2013

This bluetooth adapter is small and neat. I bought it chiefly to replace an old adapter which was not compatible with my new bluetooth wireless speakers, however unfortunately it would appear that my laptop, nearly four years old, is too old!
